Regarding first point that you raised
I think Imtiaz deliberately staged first scene like that to show that at the start of the movie this is just an event that nobody really cares about esp people who didn’t know chamkila. It’s just another news piece. Then through the movie, we get to know Chamkila and then at the end it means something else entirely when we see the same scene again at the end. Basically, why would people who have no clue about Chamkila see the event any differently than how Imtiaz showed in the first scene

I couldn't stop thinking abt Sidhu Moosewala while watching Chamkila, what a well made movie, the way Imtiaz captured the 80s Panjab is just spectacular. Diljeet really dil jeet leta hai with his performance.

well done to Netflix for backing this one. I think Theatrical release would not have worked BUT I hope this does not deter fair recognition of this movie. Diljit and Pari giving noteworthy performances
In 2024, we have had Fighter, TBMAUJ, Merry Christmas, Shaitaan, Laapataa Ladies, Yodha, Madgaon Express, Crew, Maidaan and now Amar Singh Chamkila. We can see the growth of Hindi film industry, they have evolved and explored different genres now in terms of content and quality. Bollywood is finally back after the successful 2023. Can Bollywood make more different type of stories and different type of content that we want? Of course, they will do it.

As a Sikh a unique thing which I noticed was the way Sikh extremists were portrayed in a very subtle and interesting way however fictional it was, but it tells loads about the reality of that time. The Kharku movement or khalistani movement saw rise of religious clergy and self declared religious leaders who literally use to issue diktats just like Fatwas are issued by Islamic Extremists. There was a Punjabi movie Jodi released in 2023 which was based on the same plot. The only difference was it didn't used Chamkilaa's real name. The fun fact is that it also starred Diljit Dosaanjh as the main protagonist ❤

Lol, The funny thing is that when that journalist said to Chamkila that he objectify women in his songs and Chamkila don't even know what women objectification means and he doesn't understand what women objectification is. His all songs were inspired by his life experiences which he has seen throughout his childhood. For example, men peeking while a women was bathing, extramarital affairs in family, women were singing and dancing on double meaning songs and having fun and soo many these types of many incidents shaped his personality and gave him inspiration for his songs.

I always believed in Imtiaz Ali since Jab we Met and I loved each and every movie regardless of box office. Chamkila is such a wonder ful movie in which the story, narration, acting of Diljit 🔥 everything was masterpiece. Music.. vida karo by Arijit Singh is so loopy… I just loved this movie❤
When Imtiaz Ali is in top form, he makes movies that transcend the screen and pull you in. Chamkila, like Rockstar is one of those.
Not knowing the real story of Chamkila before watching the movie I was intrigued by the collaboration of Imtiaz, AR Rahman, Diljit & Parineeti but this was so much more.
This was a movie to touch your heart & soul. Where the lines between art and real life are so beautifully enmeshed that I am the better for having watched this….

After watching this video, started thinking about my mother tongue BHOJPURI and it's state across the country. There are so many people who hate this language because they think that the songs made in Bhojpuri is vulgar and bad.
I dont think its the languag tht is the problem.. its kind of the reprsentation of the language in the movies. Like if you see really good representation, bhojpuri would be taken more seriously

@@raja-jl9os ive only seen very softcore erotic stuff side of the bhojpuri with industry. granted every indian industry has those. this wass a problm with the south industries in the 90s- mid 2010s. even tlgu which was notoriously erotic has dialld it down a bit, not a lot but enough to not be rpresented by it.Then again telgu industry has made some insane strides over the years with gems like bahubali and other visul spectacles. Maybe I might be unfamiliar with bhojpuri industry industry in general , but ive evr actually come across some movie that would be like really fun to watch sans the machismo and the eroticism. Plus it also doesnt help that many do not come with subtitles .so for us uninitiated and strangers to th bhojpuri industry, its n industry that help us gets our rocks off.the industry itself requires a renaissance/upheavel thst brings btter craftsmen on all fronts to the fold and disassociating itself from the low brow stuff

The backbone of IMTIAZ’s movie has always been Irshad Kamil. He deserves better attention.
His lyrics in Imtiaz’s movies are eternal as in they aren’t just based on moment in film rather they are open ended and that’s what the beauty of his lyrics is.
Eg even in this movie though he was portraying the vulgarity of chamkila’s song in naram kalija but in isolation it can be seen as anthesis of male chauvinism.
Similarly in jab we met tumse hi din hota hai can also be perceived as devotional song yet at the same time it fits perfectly as romantic song and similarly many more.
i just watched this today and hands down Imtiaz Ali is so back.
Hope he doesn't lost again.
Diljit as Chamkila is a performance for years to come.

I saw Imtiaz Ali in DU in November 2023. I met him in front of an elevator. I saw him. Glanced at him and then nodded. And Imtiaz nodded back. Then we glanced eyes him at gardens of the college. Everyone was awe at him and I just waved by hands to him as we do to a person we saw daily and just wave hands with a smile and he waved back. Everyone was at awe at how he casually greeted me that way. It was always my wish to meet him someday and I never thought it will be this way. Rockstar has been my best movie till now and he is the most admired director by me. I could have asked from autograph but I feel he is nit the man you just want an autograph. I want to meet him one day and chat with him for hours about his thoughts, life and philosophy. Imtiaz it has been a long wait and you delivered a gem again.

Watched the movie first and then watched your video. I am so glad that I watched the movie without any context. I had no idea about the real events behind this movie or any other anticipation. Absolutely loved it. The way it questions the moral superiority of privileged people, was on point.
What a movie. My only complain about this movie is the Arijit song. Movies can be made without forcing an Arijit song. They could have very well added a Diljit song.

I hate how he dismisses his films. This is what Ranbir often does too. I am not saying one should boast about their craft but at least acknowledge how you got there
Imo Jab We Met is just a comfort movie for teenage girls and young adult women thats all. All in.all i didn't like it much. Rockstar is his best work according to me.

I was completely on board with the cold open as instead of waiting for the massacre till the end, we get to face it in the beginning and then it paves the way for the parallel tracks of Chamkila’s journey and the aftermath of his murder.
The one issue I had was how Amarjot’s track was sidelined completely in the second half. Parineeti was bang on as Amarjot and it was sad that she was just seen as a support for Chamkila. Both Parineeti and Diljeet shared a great chemistry which was missing in second half.
I'm still sobbing over Vida karo. That song hits your heart's thumbi like nothing else

Awesome Biopic Superb direction by Imtiyaz Ali agreed that assasination scene should have been more impactfull. Cinematography by Sylvester Forensca was Brilliant score by A R Rahman was awesome. Awesome film And Amazing performances by Diljit & Parineeti🤘🏻🎞🎥🎬👌

Born in wrong times. After rockstar this was a movie which touched something inside of me in terms of religion, society, politics and hypocrisy built around it. Chamkila was just Niki Minaj or Ariana grande or any pop artist from today but born in wrong times. I’m sure this is still prevalent in India, esp in rural India. But he was a real artist, how many minds he must have challenged and changed, how many minds he must have inspired to be themselves, how many unnecessary taboos he must have broken, that’s what real artists do. And that’s what Imitaz Ali, AR Rahman, Diljit Dosanj and Parineeti Chopra did by playing such pivotal roles in bringing this story to us. It was a beautifully put together art piece❤
