If you are looking for more information about living in the North Hills or in the South Hills, please give me a call (412-758-8000) and I would be glad to help. If you already live in Pittsburgh, please provide your opinion on which area you think is better.

Sorry to put this out on your channel sir, but a friend and I was lost in North Hills a few years ago and one of its residents clearly made it known that he did not want black people in his community. Not saying that the racist guy speaks for the entire North Hills community however he is one of them that does not welcome change.

There was a racial issue at my husbands job in the south hills with a very hateful customer that didn’t like blacks as well. He used racial slurs and had to be removed from the premises.

I can not speak to wich is better. I have never lived in the north hills. I can say I live in South Park and I love it. I lived a lot of places but when I think of home it is South Park.

See, I think people that grow up in the South Hills are more diplomatic as well! You like where you grew up but not willing to say it is better. People from North Hills are far more adamant! LOL!

I moved to Pittsburgh a year ago and I’m STILL learning how to map it out.

Yes! It is not an easy city to navigate and wrap your head around. At least there is GPS!

I agree with you. Both are good areas to live. Theoretically you can get around the South Hills just walking. In the North Hills, you need a car. The South Hills has better bus service. However, the North Hills is spread out and not so congested. I lived in the North Hills when it was still country. I moved from the South Hills to the North Hills when there was hardly anything on McKnight Road. The Northway Mall was brand new! I liked the country feeling, but that was in the 60's! Both have great schools. It just depends on your personality as to which one you prefer.

If North Hills are north of the rivers, and South Hills are south of the rivers, then is the part between the rivers East Hills?
Having a neighborhood called the Hill District is part of the confusion, as it also has Middle Hills and Upper Hills...

Hi Jeff. Your logic is solid, but this is Pittsburgh. There is an attempt to refer to the westerns suburbs as the West Hills (to include Moon Twp, Robinson Twp, etc) but other than a car dealership West Hills is not used very often. We actually do have an East Hills but it is an actual neighborhood within the city of Pittsburgh. It is surrounded by Homewood, Penn Hills, and Wilkinsburg. So the eastern suburbs do not really have a common geographic label. As far as the Hill District - it is just the Hill. Close to downtown it is the lower hill and further east it is called Sugar Top (which the map might call Upper Hill). Hope that helps!! Thanks for your question.

We've lived in both Mt. Lebanon and Cranberry Twp. Mt. Lebanon was more upscale and more expensive. Cranberry Twp was nice but didn't have that feel of living in Pgh. It was also a little far from a lot of things. I guess I'd pick Mt. Lebanon but probably couldn't afford to live there. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. Although most residents have strong opinions about North Hills v South Hills, very few people have lived in both places.
