During evening light yesterday in northern New England, was driving down a one lane-dirt track lined on one side by tall maples and the other side a golden fields of tawney grass, falling away to mountains rolling rank-and-file to the horizon. It was a stupendous evening.
The full version of "Magic Hour" was on the radio. I was transported to another planet.
The song's concept is so brilliant, melodic, haunting, real, and just plain beautiful I was moved to tears.
And naturally I had to find out what I was listening to. What an amazing artist O'Donovan is!
Dear Lord, I am witnessing an artist. A true artist. Just came here from discovering "Little Sadie" and I'm floored. Haven't seen a true artist in a long, long time.
This sounds more "magic" than the official video. To the voice and words come through more clear and that's where, to me, the true magic of this song lies, with everything being excellent. Also I caught this song on the vid with your electric guitarist and percussionist which was also awesome.

When I close my eyes, I swear I'm listening to Edie Brickell, especially the first line of verse one, "In the magic hour, when the moon is low". She sings so sweetly and I love her NEW original songs, like this one.

Detour Sign has been the only song I've known by Aoife for a while. It originally came up on a spotify song radio, now I'm finding myself really into most tracks by this artist. I honestly prefer the acoustic version of Magic Hour because I get a better feel for the vocals and lyrics when it's "unplugged".
Between this, Bee Keeper, and other song references, she definitely seems to come from some kind of ritualistic family line. Kind of creeps me out but she is so good. I'm torn
