- Michael Sheen (Aziraphale) and David Tennant (Crowley) join BBC Radio
1's film critic Ali Plumb to talk about the second series of Amazon
Prime Video’s Good Omens, looking back on their first outing, as well
as just what it feels like to be wearing a red wig, in space, floating
on a gimbal. Fair warning: things get so geeky Ali asks Michael and
David to sign his copy of Good Omens, and then he asks for a
photograph. Yep, he went there.
#DavidTennant #MichaelSheen #GoodOmens #GoodOmensS2
This interview took place on 10th July 2023.

Fanfiction:
David: "That's not for us to read"
Micheal: "Oh I read it all"😂😂
The way they're both the complete opposite of their characters in real life
There's no way Michael "fanboy" Sheen doesn't have a secret AO3 account.
Michael: „I wrote most of it 😏”
David: 😆
This is literally so cute 😢❤
Micheal saying "I wrote all of it" compared to the ending 😭
I like how Michael has more Crowley energy in real life and David has more Aziraphale energy.
They are brilliant actors especially together.
I initially thought that the characters/actors were cast the wrong way round - I was so wrong!
@@Mariadragwennabless you for posting the link
I mean he was originally supposed to be Crowley
No, they are both Azi and Crowley. Just look at UNICEF videos of Michael, he's so angelic in there.
Said it before and I'll say it again....Ali Plumb is the best film and tv interviewer
I agree!!
100% completely agree. There's a reason so many of the people he interviews remember him!
I'll watch him interview anyone, even if I don't know who they are
@@jake-wq2vb aye it's why the BBC should sack the slimy creep
I agree. I really enjoy his interviews. Everyone seems to be very comfortable.
I love how insistent Michael is that it’s not *that* kind of space setting, while David’s like “bro why is this important 😂”
Lol he better watch his mouth around Doctor Who 😅
@@ravenclaw1848 When they started asking if he's implying sci-fi isn't good, I was like, "You can't say that in front of The Doctor!" 😂
michael: i mean we joke about doing a theatrical tour
david: i'm not joking *I'M NOT JOKING ABOUT THAT, IT'S A LOVELY LITTLE RETIREMENT PLAN!*
Would they be like Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson, in Bottom Live 🤔
That would be amazing - like flatmates that hate each other but can’t do without each other’s company either.
Does dav means retirement from acting like all? …
@@diphylleiagrayi9035 well i don't think he means exactly that
I am so looking forward to that theatrical tour
Micheal and David's bantering is so entertaining! They're always coming up with the wackiest things. So glad they came back for season 2.
Their space talk was brilliant.
Having marathoned Season 2 the day it came out, there's definitely a season 3 coming.
@@nikkikindinger2718 You could say, a third coming. 😁
@@nikkikindinger2718 I was very disappointed considering that there is no promise of a S3 and the years that passed between S1 and S2, plus the strike that shows no sign of being settled, how many years until the hoped-for S3?
@@robertawalsh2995if there is gonna be a season 3, it’ll probably be out 2025-2026
The fans quoting “to the world” next to the “you go too fast for me crowley” is mindblowingly accurate and funny to me
David: The first scene's set in space!
Michael: Yeah but not in a _sci-fi_ way.
David: How DARE you?
Omg 😂 it didn't occur to me how with David being one of the actors to play the Doctor on Doctor Who, that has a whole other layer...
I didn’t think of that either, I thought David Tennant was objecting to what he thought was a slam on “Blake’s 7”.
Tennant's performance this season is one of the best comedic performances I've ever seen, reminded me so much of classic Monty Python but with a uniquely modern and Scottish sensibility added to it
He’s getting an Emmy nomination for sure
I WAS THINKING THE EXACT SAME THING! ESPECIALLY WHEN HE GETS DRUNK OFF OF THE POISON 😂
@katarinabrunk8698 in that part he also kind of reminded me of another Terry Gilliam piece, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 🫠
i was thinking the same thing! when i watched it with my family, they mentioned that too
I hope so!
Ali once again single-handedly giving us the best interview about season 2, getting David and Michael to share things they haven't mentioned in the 1639586 interviews I've watched before, AND making it fun for us and for the actors, too. I mean, this man, seriously.
These two are just…. So weirdly eerily perfect for azirpahale and Crowley. Good eye Neil for thinking of them as the pair and I hope they want to play them for a long time to come….or at least SEASON 3
5:50 michael sheen still being the biggest good omens fan never ceases to amaze me
"Oh I read it all"
We know Michael we know:)😂😂
I love how he's the biggest shipper in the fandom😂🥰😍
His twitter page is virtually indistinguishable from a fan account.
He has been waiting for his otp to be together longer than most of the fandoms been alive
First we had Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart. Now we have Michael and David. We don’t deserve this but I’m so grateful we have them. Protect them UK. Protect them. 💕
OMG, I don't know if you understand!!! I had the immense privilege to go see Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart perform Waiting for Godot together. I hope I have the further privilege to one day see Micheal and David in the same. They are delightful, especially together!
Absolutely!
Now let's get all four of them together in something... hells, I'd listen to them all read the phone book given the chance.
@@MarrockV The thought of all four of them together doing a project literally brought tears to my eyes. I adore them! They’ve all been in productions that are so special to me.
Ian and Patrick, Michael and David, you also have other great duos over there, Mel and sue, Greg and Alex, David and Lee, Noel and Richard.
i hope more tv shows and movies come out with these 2 in it. they are such a great duo!
Have you seen Staged? it is quite fun
@@monanaliza i haven't. I'll have to find time to watch it
@@Simply-Jess Staged was great!
As long as it isn’t Good Omens. The first was great. The second season was the only thing Gaimen has written that was terrible.
David and Michael are both so insanely likable and charismatic that it makes watching them together feel like you're catching up with old friends. I hope their friendship lasts for a long time.
I have the pocket of Good Omens signed by both Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It's one of my most treasured possessions. "We made the Devil do it", Gaiman wrote :)
I want them to do a performance that's just back-and-forth banter and quipping at each other in character, like Leonard Nimoy and John de Lancie did as Spock vs Q once upon a time.
Have you watched Staged?
Micheal and David as Statler and Waldorf of muppets fame
@@Alexionukiaohh my staged is hencedown the funniest skit I have seen.
literally what they do on Staged
Yeah. That's just their show "Staged"
The way Micheal is leaning towards David while talking, having him in his peripherals??? The chemistry is off the charts
also mirroring each others movements a lot...the hands in the laps, fiddling with the thumbs =)
Someone has written a song called "I want someone to look at me as if I'm David Tennant and they're Michael Sheen"
@@lucie4185everyone should have someone to look at them like they're David Tennant
I would listen to David and Michael together any day of my life. They are adorable, so in symbiosis.
If I imagine Crowley and Aziraphale as humans they would be exactly like this.
Michael absolute protector of fanfiction 💓
I'll never forget the day when he told that person on twitter to COMPLETELY f... off when they tried to bash him for endorsing fanfic and fanart
@@pia91And he really meant it! 👍He has defended fanfics more than once😊🥰🤗
I'm 100% sure you are a "fan" who didn't bother to watch "Staged"
@@MinekEzQM I'm Italian, Stages was not known at the time of COVID. Since I discovered this beautiful couple, I've been watching Stages videos, even as a cure after season two 🥲
@MinekEzQM that's very ironic, considering that they're playing characters in staged but sure, go off you little "expert".
No really, stop being an arsehole maybe?!
'like aziraphale and crowley are in a rocket ship'
I almost died laughing i love michael so much
They’re dressed in the iconic “Black blue or White and gold dress” look… I can’t unsee it
Oh my god they are lmao
I was sobbing during the last 10 minutes of season 2. If they don't renew for a season 3, I'm going to be upset.
I just want them to have a chance to be in love and be together 😢
@@beantheirishsetter SAME!!!!

Good news
GOOD NEWS!
i lovvvvve when interviewers actually have an idea what theyre talking abt
This has to be one of the best interviews for good omens s2, everyone seems to have such a good time!
i could watch these two talk all day i just love their chemistry
(Says someone who probably never watched "Staged")
@@MinekEzQM i watched staged and i still wanna watch them together, thank youuu
@@MinekEzQMWhat is your problem? I loved them in all the Staged series, in Good Omens, and I love them here. What's your point?
@@tjb7756 they're very proud they've watched Staged, obviously
Season 2 is incredible! And episode 6 is one to remember for sure!
Translation: 5 meh episodes, but IQ 70 audience is happy because they get a notable 6th episode.
@MinekEzQM haven't finished watching this season yet and I'm loving it so that's just u
I love when fans get to interview their idols. This should be done often.
These two are just too lovely, it's a joy to watch these interviews. I hope season 3 is happening, rather sooner than later, and all the other 663 seasons after. ❤
for that to happen
1) rewatch S1 &S2 as much as possible
2) get other people to watch it
3) amazon and the other big studios need to end the writer/actor strike by agreeing to their (very reasonable) terms, Neil has already written a bit of S3 and BBC is still paying for the set, so...
I've binge watched both seasons twice over the weekend. I'll be watching again as it's so good.
Do we have any idea what the viewing figures are world wide?
It's adorable how Ali does such a good interview then follows it by a fanboy moment we'd all have in the same situation.
Interviews done right. Plus sharing stories. Grinning ear to ear. Darn it goes by too fast
Also signing the book. Dood.
Dood
😈
I'm so jealous of the signed book
Terry Pratchett is one of my favorite authors. It is so difficult to get a movie/series to be visually as accurate as the readers imagine in their heads. These guys did a fabulous job with the characters and I’m so excited to see season 2.
Michael and David usually interview so well just off their own chemistry so I thought to myself hmm this should be great, as usual!
but man, what CAN'T Ali Plumb do? made Adam Driver laugh that one time AND gave this a wonderful, well-interviewing duo an even better session than their usual.
give this man a raise AND give every celebrity an Ali Plumb interview. he's just so good.
now I can’t stop thinking about Aziraphale in a jetpack
Michael and David were meant for each other! They have the most awesome chemistry!
I'm so inlove with the way they come up with their beautiful autographs!
The space part was so funny 😂😂
Ahh, a favourite interviewer interviewing two favourite actors about a favourite show! ❤️
I dont think Ive ever seen such a professional and lovely interviewer. He doesnt make stupid jokes or or offensive remarks to get a "reaction". He does his research and he respects both the craft , the artists and the fans.
Watch and learn HOLLYWOOD!
what a respectful way to be a fan and interview
I read ‘good omens’ when it was first released & thought it was one of the best novels ever. Years later when it was announced that a series based on the book was in production I couldn’t see how it could do the book justice, but Tennant & Sheen did it brilliantly.
Having "an irresponsible amount of fun" during a job is my new career goal 😂
chemistry between Michael Sheen and David Tennant is legendary
can watch them forever
Michael and David together are just such a delight!
I’ve got to say this is my favorite interview about season 2 I’ve seen! It’s so fun and the questions are interesting and not the same as every other interviewer asks
But still... it's nowhere close to Ali's interviews from 4-6 years ago.
He's a well prepared, geek, fanboy journalist, and he knows Good Omens was done by two notable British writers Pratchett and Gaiman, and the TV version was developed for years, while Good Omens 2 is an ordered-by-greedy-management sequel, rushed in probably by ghost writers (worst case it's based on a previously rejected generic storyboard of some unknown writer, and now shaped to use the known characters).. and his smile is not hoset.
@@MinekEzQMexcept Good Ones 2 is absolutely written and showrun by Gaiman, with the blessing and approval of the Pratchett estate (you know, Rob Wilkins and Lin and Rhianna Pratchett, the guys who steamrolled Pterry's hard drives to destroy any further Discworld stories to preserve the purity of the originals, and who are INCREDIBLY protective of his work), based on ideas, notes and discussions Neil and Pterry had. It absolutely is not just a cash-grab by Amazon management - though I'm sure they're delighted with the show'a success and fandom - and if you know anything about Neil, you know that he has both the confidence and clout to tell the management to jog on if there's not a story to tell.
I’ve been waiting for every Good Omens 2 interview to come out and I must say this one specifically might be my favorite! 😭💕 Such a funny and humorous interviewer that clearly is a fan of the book and show and seems properly interested in what David and Michael have to say. Not to say others didn’t, but the vibes here were genuinely nice and it just seemed like everyone clicked. :D
I love ali so much i saw his post on twitter and then i lost it i was sooo looking forward to see these three amazing people together since that day
One of the best interviews I've seen so far. So endearing and it must have been a real dream to meet your heroes! So cool! ❤
I love how Michael's go to "sci-fi" is a 1980's silver spandex affair, whilst being sat next to one of the biggest modern sci-fi stars on television :)
I really want Michael to show up in Doctor Who....
@@jamjarr8808, while we never see him, Michael was the voice of House in the episode "The Doctor's Wife," which was written by Neil.
Замечательный дуэт актеров.Пусть как можно больше фильмов выйдет с нтми.Удачи,Везения ,Успеха.
"An irresponsible amount of fun." Brilliant.
Awesome series. Their chemistry together is amazing. The one thing I wish they would have kept in is the narrator's hilarious comments from time to time like in the first season.
These two are such a formidable duo - the absolute perfect choices for Azira & Crowley, S2 has cemented that for me. The scene after the magic show wearing with Aziraphale wearing the feather boa, telling Furfur to "eeennntttaaaaa" was a hysterical highlight and definitely gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide.
Michael and David doing a theatrical tour together? Where do I sign, how much money do they need and can I provide transport?
It doesn´t feel like watching an interview. It feels like watching a huge fan talking to his favorite actors about his favorite show. But in a calm and collected way. Nice! ^^
Ali is hands down my absolute favourite interviewer. He always makes these interviews fun, very personal (not in the sense of going into personal lives but asking questions suited to the people he interviews) and doesn’t just ask about the same things as everybody else. They have a very chill and friendly vibe. He also is very quick on his feet with callbacks and jokes (like coming back to the jetpack when David joked that Michael doesn’t walk anywhere anymore).
I literally could watch them together forever and never get tired of it. They're so cute, my ineffable husbands.
“Oh please tread on me”
The "writing all the fanfiction" joke never gets old for me. Love it. This is the first interview with David I've ever watched, and I'm embarrassed to say I was surprised by his Scottish accent. A lovely interview, love how flustered the interviewer was, because who wouldn't be? (Also very envious of the book he now owns.) 😇😈
Don't feel bad. I *know* about the accent, so it doesn't catch me off guard -- but worse, it never seems to "synch up" for me. Like he's an English actor doing a character, because that's just how my ill-educated 'Murican brain processes it.
“just space!🤷♂️” 😂😂
Oh, this interview was so much fun🙏🏻
i just love ali plumb, he is so nice and respectfull it is realy great to see!!
David's signature is amazing
This made me so happy. It was a lovely interview, I love them so much
5:48 Reminded me of that moment when David was doing an interview and was told there was Doctor Who "corn". His expressions after that was priceless.
Their hair and clothes are perfect for their characters, Michael is the nice dad and David your cool uncle.
Also the whole space argument 🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely my favourite interview. Questions that i wanted answered as well and haven't heard before. The interviewer is, unironically the best one ive seen so far!!
Love watching interviews of the two of them together and Ali is always a great interviewer
I love thath they kepts the dark and light outfit motive going :)
And that gave the entire fandom fantasies about what crowley and aziraphales signatures look like
I remember finding out these two were going to play the lead roles in the first series and more or less thinking that there was no way it wasn't going to be amazing (which it was). Having these two playing Aziraphale and Crowley has to make it actually enjoyable for Neil Gaiman to write the screenplay. I wonder how much of the script was 'This is the situation and it needs to get to here, you two work out how to do that.' I literally can't imagine anyone else playing either role at this point. I'm glad to hear they enjoy playing them. It's pretty obvious they are friends off screen as well.
Ali is the best interviewer. And it’s more fun when he interviews actors from the UK, esp the talented charismatic duo that is Michael Sheen and David Tennant
When the interviewer asks for and gets autographs and a photograph-- Michael and David you are both very special! I have met 1/3 of the three!
Ali the fact that you got their signatures signed all angel and demon-like is AMAZING. I'm so envious but there's no one more deserving. Lovely interview 🤍🖤
best interviewer
really welcoming to banter and not talking over anyone :)
I want to meet David and Michael so badly at a comic con. They seem like so much fun!
I looooovvvee good omens. Thanks heaps for this
RENEW GOOD OMENS, WE NEED CLOSURE
how you holdin up knowin its renewed🎉🎉
Bring on season 3!
So they really do argue like an old married couple in real life 😂😂😂
Love seeing an interviewer being such a fan.
No one:
David: IT's sET iN spAcE!!!!
Yes!...to Aziraphale and Crowley in their senior years doing a tour!!!
What I want to see in the third series:
Them to clarify what exactly is the crank that Crowley has.
DRAMA! Comedic drama.
What happened to Crowley after the graveyard scene in season 2 when hell reclaimed him.
Was the coffee spiked.
Bring back available season 1 characters as Crowley did say "all of us against all of them".
Who Crowley was when he was an angel. As we saw from the scene where he accessed the files in Heaven in season 2 he has quite the high status.
Why we never actually see Crowley eating food, only drinking.
What became of Beelzebub and Gabriel.
And a very awkward make out scene between Crowley and Aziraphale after Aziraphale apologizes to Crowley as they bump into and knock stuff over in the bookshop as they make their way to Aziraphale's room as Aerosmith's "Angel", plays.
And I don't think that's asking for much.
The last one is a MUST. I would kill for that scene
@@wantingsu2793 I mean, there's been no evidence of them having or not having a romantic relationship with anyone so I would assume it'd be quite new and awkward for them with them being reunited and overflowing with all kinds of emotions that at some point they'd just let their bodies do the talking for them.
Ha ha ha. Just saying now.
@@thisistheaccountname i would imagine it as a very awkward scene but sweet nonetheless
Best interview I've seen yet!
I'm looking forward to season 3. Not gonna lie, I kinda just threw this show on because I couldn't find anything to watch, but ended up binging it all night and watching it all. Pleasant surprise.
