Thank you for explaining Konstantin's picture. I didn't realize it was supposed to be swan lake. But even just now I finally understood that swan lake was for the final downfall? What I remember hearing was that every time a Soviet president died they played classical music. So I was a little confused when people started saying swan lake. I thought Well I guess that could be classical but I thought they played various ones. I think when the Soviet Union finally fell I wasn't paying any attention at all. Although I did notice when Gorbachev came and I did see the fall of the Berlin Wall on TV. But after that... Was I even aware? I was in my '30s. I wasn't a little kid. Anyway thanks for explaining the picture. I was watching Konstantin talking about whatever topic it was that day and when we got to the live chat portion people started asking him if there was a coup and he hadn't looked at the news. He got up. He prepared for his stuff whatever topic (Although previously he had discussed civil war, as you know) And then people had to tell him. I'm kind of giggling here. But then we had like a brief recess while he caught up and then we came back. The things which happened the next morning, East Coast time, I think I slept through most of them. Battery on my phone died. Alarms didn't go off... I turned around and it was "over." And then I watched Anna from Ukraine who made me feel a little less disappointed. Not that I really thought the country would fall. I wasn't that optimistic. But I was so hoping they'd be tied up for a while...

I was wondering if Prigozhin was calling for a meeting with the Russian generals in order to feel them out for a unified take-down of Putin? I can't think why else he would want to meet with people who just took out his troops. Why meet with people who are looking for an opportunity to kill you? And Prigozhin has been so insulting to the generals, it seems they would be disinclined to accept a meeting. And what a stupid tactical move for Putin to have ordered a hit on the Wagner mercenaries, causing Prigozhin to move his forces out of Ukraine and turn his face toward Moscow. But is Putin so affronted that he would want to destroy any bodies when he needs every one for his war? My head spins and keeps generating questions. The turmoil is so epic, it feels like a real-life Lord of the Rings clash of armies. It's all so fascinating to watch what is happening and wonder about the motivations. Here's hoping the Orcs and Nazguls cancel each other out.
Hard to know the truth when Russians never speak it. I don't even know whether to believe that Wagner has actually gone to St. Petersburg. Like you, I find the videos being posted to be sketchy. Satellite pictures show a military headquarters in Rostov surrounded by military vehicles, but they can't comfirm if it is Wagner or defense vehicles. Has there been any word out of Ukraine confirming Wagner has gone?
All outcomes will benefit Ukraine: Wagner group dismantled or Putin regime collapses, or Russia has to remove troops from Ukraine to fight the insurrection. I was wondering if Prigozhin was calling for a meeting with the Russian generals in order to feel them out for a unified take-down of Putin? I can't think why else he would want to meet with people who just took out his troops. Why meet with people who are looking for an opportunity to kill you? And Prigozhin has been so insulting to the generals, it seems they would be disinclined to accept a meeting. And what a stupid tactical move for Putin to have ordered a hit on the Wagner mercenaries, causing Prigozhin to move his forces out of Ukraine and turn his face toward Moscow. But is Putin so affronted that he would want to destroy any bodies when he needs every one for his war? My head spins and keeps generating questions. The turmoil is so epic, it feels like a real-life Lord of the Rings clash of armies. It's all so fascinating to watch what is happening and wonder about the motivations. Here's hoping the Orcs and Nazguls cancel each other out.

Hard to know the truth when Russians never speak it. I don't even know whether to believe that Wagner has actually gone to St. Petersburg. Like you, I find the videos being posted to be sketchy. Satellite pictures show a military headquarters in Rostov surrounded by military vehicles, but they can't comfirm if it is Wagner or defense vehicles. Has there been any word out of Ukraine confirming Wagner has gone?
