When I was about a couple years older than Linc I spent the summer cutting lawns (I started cutting my lawn when I was 7) and sometime in September I saved enough to get my second RC car which was a Tyco Bandit. I sent that thing through the ringer and back. Had it up in the air (about 3 or 4 feet) and landing on cement and never ended up breaking it. So, I think the equivalent in today's RC cars would be a Traxxas Stampede, Bandit (funny they make a bandit) and a Rustler and they cost $180. The Tyco I bought was about $100 back in 1986. These cars are built pretty good and have all the replacement parts. They're also located in Texas and about 5 hours from ya.

Yes, they're expensive, but they're tough as nails, very fast, and *have replaceable parts.* When they break, you spend around $20 to repair them, instead of spending $100 to replace them. They also have great suspension; he can jump them all day with no issues.
I bought my son a Traxxas Stampede when he was 6 and it's still in perfect working order six years later. He actually broke it in half at one point, but I just bought a replacement chassis for $14 and it was fixed.

Get Link a Brushed 1:10 scale 4x4 ARRMA rc with a NiMH battery. They aren't too fast. Your Local Hobby Shop will know what they are.
They can jump very high, but repairs usually never cost more than €20.
Another cheap, repairable option are WL Toys RC cars

Matt, another great way to get them to learn to save long term is to match whatever they put into savings. We do that with our daughter and it has to stay in there a long while, many months.

Matt I think you should have your team design a helmet with clear open shield in front that supplies oxygen during the burnouts, so your not consuming all those fumes... That is dangerous in the long term.. Your babies need you around for a long time.

Hey Matt, my son and I got into RC cars during the wonderful Covid lockdown. Check out the Traxxas Slash 4WD. Linc won't be disappointed. We love them and you can bash them all the time.

Hey, I'm in the rc world, and I recommend getting an Arrma senton 550 Mega, or a Traxxas Slash 2WD. Their tough, pretty fast, and if you want to upgrade, and fix them, you can. If you want more info, just respond.

I was in Bowling green at the 1975 Winston Nationals we had a AA gas front engine rail and I still have some pictures I took in the pit area, we got eliminated the first day and we just came from winning the 75' Cajun Nationals but we still had a great time.

About the RC cars: Get you some Traxxas cars. Maybe a 1/8th T-Maxx. I used to jump mine off 90 ft doubles on my dirt bike track and they survived just fine.

Matt you can ziptie a wash cloth over the screen and will help. It won't be as good as a filter but is better than just a screen

16:45 my dad used to do this with me when i was younger, but i wouldn't really understand the point of it, but now since i'm older we invest in cars, boats, atv's and split whatever parts and labor we have to put into it, and then split the profits based on the percentage we spent

I am 7 min into your video and if the only thing keeping you from having your hood close is the charge pipe. Could you have an oval pipe or a custom made aluminum tube that is pretty wide to make up for the flatness. So it would have the same internal volume as your normal pipe but just flat? Would this cause a restriction? This was just my first thought to your problem, but I don't know, I'm just a 93 d250 12 valve guy

Put spacers on the hood hinges. You see it a lot on Honda civil. It just lifts the top of the hood a little
