I remember meeting Little Richard & Esquerita at the Motown building on sunset in Hollywood back in the early 80s they look alike to me they were so cool it was a bar/restaurant in the building thanks for this.
The first I ever heard of Esquerita was a review of one of his albums claiming that the record company signed him because they thought "Well, Little Richard's half crazy. This guy's totally nuts so he should sell twice as many records!"
Great those Esquerita records which will live forever.
Yes they will!
There's not a lot of info out there about this artist. Thanks for the video.
No problem! Thank you for watching!
You'll pay $1,000 for Esquerita's Capital LP. Please, please listen to his music, it still sounds absolutely volcanic.
Love seeing Esquerita getting some respect. But, this video would be much better if his music was included. I have 3 of Esquerita's CDs but to most viewers they don't have a clue as to how his playing influenced Little Richard.
Yea I know. Copyrights was my issue. His music is great though. hopefully people go check out some of his music.
Thanks for your reply. Thought that copyrights may have been an issue .Being from New Orleans, I had an advantage with respect to knowing about him. I think your video will certainly encourage others to check him out! @@Queerssip
Thanks for the research!,❤🎉
Thanks for watching!
There was a Chittlin circuit in Paris France too. My grandmother, Dora (Hamlin) Edwards at that time, in the early 50s, owned a small jazz club called the Ringside. It was also a boxing ring. Bobbie Dawson was showcased there. Grandma Dora was friends with Billie Holliday and Eartha Kitt. Matter fact my father, Dorsey Randolph, had a crush on E K. 😂😂I’m not tech astute, so I don’t know how to upload photos. I’m not name dropping either; celebrities are just humans, like anyone else.
Wow You did it again & I knew all about E [SQ] already but Cannot wait to see who you do next Roy Brown? Billy Eckstine? Marylou Williams? Jay Hawkins? Jay McNeely? Sam Taylor? Earl Bostic? Little Willie John? Helen Humes? Pete Johnson? Albert Ammons? Meade Lux Lewis? Champion Jack Dupree? Dee Clark? I hope you smile today
Wow, thanks for the research.
No problem! Thanks for watching!
Thanks that was a good job🤔👏👏👏😬😎
If you listen to Esquerita's singing, Little Richards did a direct imitation of him .
This was way more informative than that b.s. they put in that documentary for Richard on CNN. It literally only mentions that they met & he influenced his look. Then changed the subject super quick.
Esquerita influenced Little Richard's piano playing. Richard said Esquerita taught him how ro play.
Thank You!
Ty for this, queer folks, especially queer black folks dont get the recognition or even put in history. Thx for educating us.
Around 1950 Little Richard recorded 8 sides for RCA. Issued on two, 7" Extended Play 45 RPM Records {I had one of these.} This music has been reissued on CD. Long before Richard recorded for Specialty. These were in a somewhat typical style for their time, & not the, "forceful," style of, "Tutti Frutti," which was itself based on a ribald club song, with, `cleaned up lyrics:' `Tutti Fruity, Good Booty!' & so on ~}. 😁😷😳💥💫👆
Interesting
This should've been out little Richard mentioned eauerita he influenced little Richard.
Straordinaria..eccellenza 2023
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m sure chittlins still are very popular!🤣🤣
Remember a story that Paul peek of Gene Vincent’s blue caps saw Esq in a club informed Gene to get esquerita signed to Capitol Records
Pretty sure the mother of rock n roll is way older then these men.
Came you name a few?
@@Queerssip Rosetta Tharpe
@@user-go1px9kt1vBlues
@@user-go1px9kt1vYes she influenced many but styles of music are different
@@Queerssip no she's the mother and that's that. Without miss Tharpe none of the males would've come up with their music etc cetera. Same goes for Elvis without any Afro-American music thus influences he wouldn't be anything 😉😅🤣
Who is the blues singer at 2:30, i don't understand the name. Billy ...?
His name was Billy Wright.
@@Queerssip Thank you, interesting fact about Richards influences.
American music would not exist??!!
Whats your question?
Popular American music, from country, musicals to rock & roll, were based on Black American artforms.
Little Richard wasnt black
He was purple!!!
@@xwsftassell he was white
Who cares! Just cool Mr Little Richard thank you!
@@user-pn3io5oy3i I know you're joking😂
He was Tutti-Frutti, Good booty!!
