I was going to give up on the sti cluster reading through the forums. They stated you would have to repin the connectors. Problem solved and if you want to go back to stock cluster no problem at all.
When cutting your fxt bezel to.fit the sti gauge, don't cut out the entire bottom side. Cut the top portion first, test fit, and see where the sti.cluster hits the bottom. If you cut the fxt cluster evenly top and bottom, you'll have gaps at the 4pm and 8pm location of the bezel. I bought a sti bezel for $20 and hopefully it'll fit perfectly without any.gaps compared.to my.cut fxt.bezel.
Thanks so much for posting this video! Super helpful! Question: does the cluster dim with the normal dash dim control? Also has the cluster been reading accurately for you?
Hey Cody, any additional tips to cutting the shroud??....it looks like you might have cut the shroud a bit short at the bottom (you can see under the cluster). Any tips now that you've done it??
I like your videos, I have a 04 FXT and tbh usdm engine is garbage I end up replacing it for a JDM forester sti engine and I recomend you to do it before you keep doing mods and then It'll be too late. Also best oil for subaru's Shell Rotella T6 5w-40 and OEM filter.
I know it’s a long debated question but what 3 gauges are ideal for a setup that’s similar to yours. Not looking to go big, prob 300hp at most. Great vids btw!
I have an oil temp, oil pressure and boost gauge. I would say these are helpful to monitor your engine health and potentially save it if something goes wrong before it goes completely wrong.
Cody, nice vid (again). You mention in the vid the outside temperature lead but I didn't see you connect that or do anything special with it - you just plugged in the three green connectors. Do you have to do anything special with the outside temperature lead ??
So if you say got these cluster harnesses from a junk yard and repinned them yourself, you'd have a faulty outside air temp reading. Aaron has something inline on the harness to correct that issue!
Cheers, I was hoping that was the answer. I'm in touch with Aaron (yes, I mentioned you) and in the process of ordering both a cluster and harness. Keep the vids coming Cody.
I have now installed my cluster and have a few tips not covered in Cody's post for those following. The green plugs are a mongrel to pull out - particularly the centre. There is a tab on them - hang in there they will release. In terms of trimming the shroud I did it two ways (I had a spare shroud) one with an angle grinder like Cody and one with a dremel. Conclusion - a dremel to cut the bulk of the plastic away worked better for me. I then finished with a hand file - the hand file gives you much more fine control and I think better fitment. It's a slower method but worth it if you value a neat job. Last tip, you only really need to cut the backing out of the shroud. Cody mentions taking a quarter inch off but I didn't find that to be the case. As Cody says in the video just keep doing trial fits but start by just removing the backing off the shroud.
I have an 04 fxt.and.got the 04.sti cluster. There sti cluster.does.have the.sweep as well as the dccd. I have the auto so aaron wired it to turn dccd off. aarons.electronics.is.fast.to respond and.easy to.deal.with. I had to.wait a month.for my harness, but he.told me that.whenni ordered due.to.covid and his work schedule and.place.being short.on.workers. I got.my.sti cluster.from Aaron too.and.it.was.scratch free.on the.clear.plastic.and in great condition. Made.the entire.project easy to do being all.parts and harness coming from him.
Nice install! What about the gauges/gauge pod? I really like how they match the STi cluster!

Exactly! Easy plug and play!

The sti bezel didnt fit,..oh well, the cut fxt bezel willl work fine..
I want one from a GR STi not because its better looking, but because it has a legit coolant gauge unlike my current one which has a little blue light
Bro this is amazing. I've been waiting for this vid since I saw you comment about it on Facebook. Thank you for all the great Fozzy content.
Wait no more my friend! 🤙🏼😊

Very nice!
In Japan your harness is not available.
I’m jealous!
I really love watching your videos, you have great character and are super entertaining. Keep it up man :)

Any idea if you can just buy the correct bezel instead of modifying the forester one? They are super cheap so could be easier than cutting to fit?
Hey bro how to reprogram the cluster
aweosme man thanks for the lovely video and link
How can you reprogram it? Mines doesn’t make the beep beep noise
where did you get your gauge cluster that is on top of the dashboard? the smaller one that replaces the stock dash cubby?
That is made by BNA Solutions on Instagram! Tell him I sent ya!
So I don’t need an adapter if I’m installing a 2005 sti cluster in my 2005 manual forester xt ?
