I love Trout and Panfish Magnets. I have caught trout, bass, panfish and catfish in several different bodies of water around where I live. The brown color is my best/favorite one, however I have caught them on pink, white, yellow/orange, cranberry and many other colors. They just work.
I've caught them drifting it without a bobber, but never got a bite using a bobber. Jigging is usually by far the most productive way to fish a trout magnet for me.
ive had alot of success with these floats.... just bought a 36 pack of em....after fishing with em for awhile tho they get saturated and dont float as well.....
I reel with my right also. Grew up using 33s, then bait casters, so it became so ingrained, that once I started using open face, it felt very unnatural to reel with the left hand. If I could do anything differently, it would be to learn to accurately cast with my left hand 😅
What are your favorite colors in the trout magnet? It seems that everyone has different favs for sure. I always have my best luck on either the black/gold or the straight up orange.
Get yourself a color chart that is visible light spectrum where you see purple is sunset, where you see white is sunrise. However things change with the season, in summer red is midday, in the winter blue and green are midday, in spring chart is mid morning, in the fall pink is mid morning. If you get an orange lens and look at things in the water like your bait if it has a gold tint to it it is what is being eaten color wise, at different times overcast sunny time of day etc.. different things will glow in the water. Black green and white are exempt from these rules because they are primary colors in water they always look the same. Hope that helps
I watched your video and I have a couple tips for you. Tip: Press Barb of jig hook down with pliers so you can remove hook better. Tip: Trout like yellow esp. when you have a hopper hatch.
When trout are hungry and not spooked they will bite all colors I found. That seems to be what this video is showing. The test is to know when they are not biting anything what maybe the best color and even with that it will vary daily, to monthly and seasonally.
You may want to flatten your hook barbs for easier release, easy hook release from the net, and easy removal if you should ever hook yourself. I have hooked many trout, can set my rod down, eat a sandwich, and the trout remains on the line using barbless hooks. I debarb all of my hooks with a dental pliers that has one flat jaw and one round jaw. This pliers never weakens or damaged hooks in any way. Using a small flat jaw non-serrated pliers does nearly as well. This way you do not tear the fish's flesh or stress the fish as much when you want to release fish. Also there are a number of catch-and-release small tools where you can execute fish releases without ever having to touch them. You may likely know all this, but your viewers may not. Barbless hooks also often make for a better purchase which results in landing more fish.
Love the TM’s! I only use them with a bobber in lakes and it’s crazy all the types of fish I catch and in huge amounts! My fav lure. I just learned how to use it without a bobber by jigging it. Never seen that technique before but I know that I’ll be trying that out. Tip for ya....get a Catch and Release Rubber Net and make it easy on yourself and the fish too. Use it for a year and then watch this video again and see the difference. You will be amazed.
@@NRVOutdoors oh dude orange has always been my go to! I fish the sierras and always done good with orange slinners, powerbait, a Dodger orange/silver. Never let me.down! Great video btw! Im trout fishing today 😄
Please take this as a complement. I think that you are the Bob Ross of fishing. I see a lot of advise coming from other comments but I think you pretty much have it down to a science. Again, being a new fisherman, do you use a leader or tie straight to your main line? I see that you are using 6# line most of the time.
You seem to like to hold ur line in ur left hand during bait drifts, so why not change ur reel handle to that side of the reel ? Seems like it would be faster and simpler once you hook a fish...j/s.
Its 100% true that lighter line gets more bites. It's also very easy to break fish off on light line. After many years and countless fails/wins I can confidently say 8lb FLUROCARBON is ideal for catchability aswell as landing that fish of a life time may it come along. Hope this helps.
This video was filmed on Crooked creek, a wild life management area located in Carroll county, VA. It's open from April-September and cost 8.00 for a daily permit. Permits can be purchased online any time or onsite mon-sat 7am-2sh pm. During the off season such as "now" you may fish it without a permit.
@@NRVOutdoors i thank the trout magnet is one of the most under rated trout baits out their yes alot if ppl use them but you have to know how to use them
Change out that lousy nylon mesh net with a silicone one. Those nylon ones are bad about grabbing hooks and are a bitch to get them out of. Spend more time fishing and less time fighting your net!!
All the elitist fly fishers who spent thousands on rods and gear, hours tying flies and perfecting their "technique" just to not catch shit prolly flipping their desks right now lol. I see em every time I go to the river, casting casting casting mostly not getting anything, they run in packs, take a half hour to get "geared up". Meanwhile I can hop off the motorcycle, extend a blackhawk telescopic with Pflueger president running a lil 10lb braid w/4lb flouro leader, strap on a tiny fanny pack and my clippers round a neck strap and be fishin in 3 min.
I took a break from fly fishing for this exact reason lol. I got little 5ft ultralight setup for trout and it's been a blast. Love not spending 30 mins getting set up haha
stocked trout are stupid I've caught the on the corner of a beef jerky package
Catching limits on the jacklinks pattern flies.. lol, I love it!
I’ll have to try this
What flavor???
@@checkmate2049 stocker trout taste like a cross between dog food and liver
I've caught goldies stocked in my dip net, of let them go, cause it was no challenge.

Love the trout magnets. Cool challenge. I haven't seen this one done yet. Love the videos so far.
Try reeling with your left hand, you won't have to do an awkward switch after casting.

Trout magnets work ! Love them. Catch everything with them.
The only thing I ever catch on em is panfish and bass lol
Can you do a video on how to set up the rig you use
What case are you using for your tackle in this video? Is it the trout magnet kit that comes with the bobbers?
this is a tad bit late but it is the mega kit that comes with 2 bobbers
What are your favorite colors in the trout magnet? It seems that everyone has different favs for sure. I always have my best luck on either the black/gold or the straight up orange.
Black/green, pink, yellow
Nice vid man, I have trout magnets but never had any luck useing them. Your setup gave me hope in using them again. Subscribed!!!👍👍👍👍
Try chartreuse I've been killing them on that for years! Good luck brother
Trout Magnet on 2# line twitched 6-12" off the bottom will catch anything that swims. Just be sure to use a sensitive UL or SUL rod.
New subscriber here.. Thanks for taking the time to put these vids together. Keep them tight bud..
Anybody have ideas/recommendations on the top 2 colors?
Jigging produced bigger trout, the float brought in smaller trout...hmm

I haven’t caught crap on a trout magnet yet . Not sure what I’m doing wrong . I’ll toss on a spinner and catch.
What would be your color of choice ?
you should do a power worm challenge.... everyone uses pink worms, but they come in so many colors other than pink.
When trout are hungry and not spooked they will bite all colors I found. That seems to be what this video is showing. The test is to know when they are not biting anything what maybe the best color and even with that it will vary daily, to monthly and seasonally.

I just bought some light pink ones but haven’t yet caught anything with them.
Curious why you use a lews for this? Not a ultralight rod?
What kind of reel and rod you have?
Noticed ur. A lefty too 😆
Is it best to use a bobber with things like trout magnets? Or doll can you jig it off bottom?
Both work equally well
Damn u make it look easy......I got to try letting it slowly drift . I think I'm giving too much action 😅

Actually just picked one up. That net was rubber coated at one point. Years of use wore it down to the cloth...
Ive caught a bunch of bass in the 3 lb range on the red trout magnet
I've caught everything around a creek besides fish with trout magnets. It's super frustrating and I keep trying because of videos like this. Grr.
centralcoaster33 I killed the trout with this
is there a color you recomend above everything else for clear water?
Black & green
What size line? I'm camping near Pinecrest to fish soon and can't decide if I should use 2lb or 6lb flourocarbon because I have both. Thank you!
6lb if they are biting good and 2lb if they're finicky. Good luck & tight lines!
Is the red color productive as well?
Some days it can be excellent
Another awesome video well done some really nice fish
Dang, that trout magnet can't lose in that honey hole. You using braid with a clear leader on that? How long is the leader? - Thxs.
Another awesome video well done some really nice
What bobber is that? Man you killing it with that magnet. Convinced me to buy two boxes, lol.
Are you allowed to use trout magnets in delayed harvest streams and creek bugs ?
Yes
That’s incredible how many fish you caught, what line do you use? Do you have a braid to a mono leader?
i love how he liked your comment but couldnt be bothered to answer
What stream is that and where do you live? It is beautiful
It’s more difficult than people think 👍🏻🎣
Nice job.
Great vedio.
But if u are practicing catch and release,,,, get u a rubber net!!!!😁
Cotton nets rub off their protective slime. 👍😁
Bass rod and braided line ???
caught a perch on one of these, just smacked it! found it at dollarama nice vid

Maybe because trout roe eggs are kind of orange too, instincts kick in to feed
The pink one slaps the most trout

I do use braid as backing as it last forever and is inexpensive. I usually have 50-100 yards of fluro main line.

Troutmagnet.com is the most direct source. However the "troutmagnet" floats can be purchased at walmart.com for much less when in stock.
Thank you 👍🏻
This past fall season in. November I had my 4 fish limet in less then 10 minutes
Stocked hit anything. Question is if wild trout will hit them
Wild Adirondack Brookies seem to like them, but they will hit about anything.
Curious what the water temp was. My guess is that last fish was dead about an hour later. It happens sometimes, even when you do everything right.
Is that graffiti on your forearm?
None of the 6 colors seemed to have an advantage. Thanks.
What rod setup is that
Lews mach pearl 6'8" medium action 20lb braid tied to a 18-20' 8lb fluro leader.

VA
I'm new to trout fishing. Could you explain your rod and reel set up and what pound line you use.
Any rod and reel combo will work. The key is using fluorocarbon line. The lighter the better. 8lb is my favorite.
I trout fish a lot and my favorite rod is Ugly Stik rod and reel 6.6 med action. And Panther Martin spinners gold or silver blade.
10ft ultra light 4lb test is what I use for trout/cats/bass every thing
5.5 ft.rod. 4lb. Line, 6 lb. Leader.With swivel
I might add, I caught 51/2 an 9 pound fish off 6lb. Sufix mono.
Also 20 inch specs. In ocean.
Last fish passed
i dont have any trout magnets to try this i wish i had trout magnets
Wal-Mart has them now
Cabelas has a nice assortment pack with jig heads for $12.99
Where are you located I would love to drive out to your state and fish with you
