This is not only about Nick, this is about June as well. It is what she's doing with Luke. She just wants to be a good wife and she is feeling guilty she cheated on him while he waited for her. She also tries to make up for the fact she couldn't save Hannah and she might be lonely that's why she is holding on to him so desperately.
But you can tell by their scenes she doesn't love him the way she loves Nick. Frankly it was soooo easy for me as a vidder to prove my point.
because there're literally so many scenes with Luke where she's either uncomfortable, or distant or simply doesn't want him! Just look! You just wouldn't be able to find such things with Nick. That speaks really loud about her true feelings.
"They even don't see each other in the last episode and they're so in love they can't think about anything else". I love how they mirrored "i'm nothing" with "tell him i'm okay"! it was so beautiful! her thinking about him every minute knowing he would be worried as hell. in spite of thinking he had moved on!!!
It really is heartbreaking she doesn't know what he did for her.
oh and something i want to add. They are so sincere with each other but haven't even openly discussed they want to be together. it is because June hasn't realized this yet? what do you think?
This season was so poor with #osblaine content goddamn it, despite Bruce saying it's their most romantic season, nope, we have eyes. and we've been robbed!!!! that's just a fact. but thanks anyway, the scenes were gorgeous!

The hospital scene where Nick is thinking deeply was excellent. It's silent and we rely on his body language but it speaks volumes. Give the man an Emmy and Oscar, so good.

@@imdancingforever5215 who’s they? I actually think this is the end of the road for Luke. They got their goodbye unlike when June and Hannah were taken and he really would have nothing else going on without June. Gilead’s reach, black man injustice, police, civil unrest. Just my opinion though.
Why do I feel like S6 is going to be Nick getting Hannah for June then dying for her in the process😢😢 I know it’s not going to end well for them cause the reality is she is still with Luke, which they were only apart cause of Gilead and Nick is with Rose. This is a tough one.. they are star-crossed lovers not destined to be together. But maybe that’s okay, sometimes we have people come in our lives for certain reasons. Nick was meant to love June during this time cause without the love he had for her, June may not have survived there. He helped her live😢❤ love them

Haven't watched this video yet but I'll like it anyways. I've been waiting for the Nick and June edits ever since I saw that episode. He broke my heart and stomped on it. From him racing to her as soon as he found out what had happened, to his quiet sadness and regret in the hospital room. The tender, loving kiss on her forehead. But when he said he's nothing, oh God I felt that to my bones. It hurt me so. For the first time in this entire series we actually saw Nick lose it in front of everyone when he hauled off and bitch slapped Lawrence. People say it's out of character but actually it's totally within his nature. This was who he was before Gilead. June has awakened him from the deadness inside. He came so close to losing the love of his life and the worst part is he can't even be there to protect her. He's never been in that position before. I hope we get that Hawaii reunion next season. They deserve it 🥺💔

this was so insightful! It absolutely was his character before Gilead! Maybe it is that she's allowing him to be himself because he knows she loves him no matter what. He doesn't have to play a part for her love, so the facade he's been holding on to in Gilead (which, by the way, seems to have been the unpleasant nature of his circumstances: he was near rock-bottom, and Gilead was a means for food, shelter, protection - it never felt like he was dedicated to their cause, something I think June picked up on, which is why it was so hard to really see him as the "enemy" that represents Gilead) has started to shed because there is someone he needs to protect who was severely hurt. That it was his "ally" made him explode in the way that was definitely representative of his previous character. He's always been passionate, just carefully and strategically subdued in his time as a Gilead person. Thanks for this!

Jesus, Nick really killed me in this episode. Why does he think so little of himself? Why does he have to be so infuriatingly selfless? I mean, it's a huge part of why I love him so much, but daaaamn. He's doing it again, he's taking himself out of the picture, because he thinks she's better off with Luke. He probably also still thinks she loves Luke more than him.
Btw, what do you think about Rose? Because I was kinda surprised by that last scene. I thought she knew what kind of marriage she was in? He told her about June, so she knew his heart was already taken. And I do think he cares about her, just not in a romantic way. Do you think she'll cause trouble for him now? Will she tell anyone about him and June? Also Hannah's fake dad was looking at Nick very knowingly when he punched Lawrence, so he might be trouble for him too. I'm worried.
100% agree that she's telling herself to love Luke out of duty and guilt. Of course she also wants him to be safe etc but it's not the kind of all consuming love she has for Nick. You're right, if they could just tell each other that they would always choose each other... ugh!
Anyways, thank you for giving us this beautifully heartbreaking video to hold on to while we wait for the new (hopefully better for us) season. I'm so mad they only gave us like 3 scenes of them this season and she wasn't even conscious in one of them!
He can’t forgive himself for helping Gilead, he thinks he’s a bad man and feels guilty for June. He’s idea of sacrificing himself by protecting her and letting her be with Luke is his way of redeeming himself
Season 6 makes me think that Nick will mourn June and her daughter 😭and that he will succeed in flourishing with Rose (she will forgive him). He deserves someone to give him some attention and June isn't willing or ready to do that.
Reuniting June and Nick seems really unlikely to me. They are both in an impossible situation.

I think Rose is gone, her father is a high commander nothing will happen to her she is privileged and sheltered obviously. She is the only person with a disability in Gilead. In season 1 we saw anybody with a disability rounded up in cells to be executed. I read her father’s position is the only reason she is still alive and she barely made it as a child when she was born she was very sickly. Part of me thinks that Rose and the baby aren’t going to make it but we shall see. She might just be the reason that Nick needs to escape sooner rather than later . McKensey scares the crap out of me especially since he saw the punch which Lawrence had coming (Nick isn’t stupid & Lawrence has been trying to use June against him to sell New Bethlehem). That punch was AWESOME! Stupid as fuck but awesome! I like pre Gilead Nick. I’m hoping Tuiello spills the beans to June asap (he seems to be a major Nick & June shipper). I actually think Tuiello amped Nick up by telling him he isn’t “nothing” to June. Nick has been screaming to anybody that will listen that he isn’t over June and he is beyond miserable since they met back in season 4. I’m hopeful he’ll get the Hell out of that Hell hole and go and find June once he fulfills his end of the bargain and is granted immunity.
You said everything perfectly !! Down to how little scenes we had of them. But the way the ended this last season seems like the perfect set up for them giving us more in the new season
" I'm nothing" actually says what I already thought in the first season...." he is just the driver" -when June said "so somebody will remember me"- it was the same for Nick.... He is such s good guy.... I wish the world would go away.....
I don't find Nick handsome, definitely he is not my cup of tea but damn.. I just started watching season 3, i think i am falling in love 🥺 i agree with you. Nick is a light in a dark world full of despair. June doesn't love Nick. Just Nick is her safe harbor, a piece of wood to which she clings while suffocating.

I kind of felt this way after their first sexual encounter and June says she wear the dress just for him and he says you don't have to wear anything special for him and at the same emotions were raging within...the life he gives to her in the Mexico scene, " My name is June" and "Nice to meet you June," for me she becomes a woman again.
It's so heartbreaking. But it gives us hope for Nick and June endgame. He loves her more than his life, and someday she will see it. Thanks for your beautiful creation.

Right? I have never in my life felt an organic, chemistry oozing out of the tv with characters like I feel with them. The fact i had to sit though a painful emotionless, forced season of Luke was tough. I’m hoping season 6 is all June and Nick all season long like the good old days! How do you waste something so fulfilling.

Such a great video! I’m so hopeful for season 6 that they will end up together like they deserve after EVERYTHING they have been through together. I'm keeping hope alive for a miraculous beautiful ending in Hawaii. At the very least, Nick should be alive and free at the end of season 6 if there's to be any. Otherwise, beautiful work as always.

I had never watched the show, I tried years ago but couldn’t get into it. A friend of mine kept telling me to give it a chance so once I did, I could not get enough of it. I ended up binging all 5 seasons in less than 2 weeks. I was so sleep deprived, but didn’t care because it was such an amazing show. Luke’s a nice guy and all but he can’t compare when it comes to Nick. I want a Nick and June happy ending where they’re living happily ever after in Maui. I am scared because Commander McKenzie has it out for Nick, not to mention Rose’s father is like the top commander. I am nervous for him.

I hope they have a flash forward in season six finale and show nick and June together and happy outside of Gileade and Luke and Rita (I secretly ship them so HARD) like June and Luke are happy with their person and we see them spending days with Hannah this day for June and others for Luke while living in separate houses. I hope Hannah and Nicole get to grow up together and learn about each others life! I hope Gileade is ruined and all that ‘blessed day’ bullshit actually ends. I'm worried for Janine though. She deserves happiness.

I really believe Nick's out as a commander after slapping Lawrence I think they will want him dead but Lawrence will save him from his fate. I think June and him will meet up on down the road somewhere be back together for awhile until Luke shows up or something happens to separate them again that's how these shows go in my perfect world June,Nick and Nicole would go off and live together as a family have another baby but that's not how these shows play out like to keep us on edge and guessing I will say if Nick died I would not be as interested in the show anymore good show but their love story keeps me coming back.

He was loyal to his brother, then to his work, then to June... He's all about sacrifice, and it scares a bit. Heard a theory that he would end up dying in s6 (Nooooooo🥺). Thoughts?
That would be awful and honestly would make me not watch the spin off. I think Luke is going to die actually (not that he deserves it) But It would propel Nick to try to get out of Gilead sooner than later since she will have nobody. Once Nick said “they won’t stop, the’ll keep coming after her & her family” I felt like Luke’s days were numbered.
