Guy: “why would you buy that? It’s junk, it will never work.” Ben Hollar: “Hold my torch!”❤️ great job! You’re a man of many talents. I love to see what you do. My husband could build anything from any pile of discarded items too. I love it!
I hope I don't get in trouble for saying this but...... it is so awesome to see how interested and helpful your youngest son is when you are digging, welding, roto tilling or most things you do outside. . Nothing against your other sons cause I know they have other chores to take care of.. Plus, I think you maybe mentioned before that they choose not to be in any of the vlogs..But the little guy is always around you and seems extremely interested in learning and helping...Very endearing...You and Meg do an awesome job in parenting.... Well done....
I would venture to say the older young men are just as into helping dad but they are at an age that they avoid the camera and Meg and Ben have both said it and they honor their wishes to not always be filmed.
When my kids were very young we used to go out every Sunday to a local auction house and entertain ourselves by spending time bidding on things that we could definitely use but were not desperate to own. When we won a bid the kids were thrilled that we had won and we often came home with small items I thought we could use. It was our group entertainment on weekends. Over the years that we did it I had a few great wins. Things I got for only a dollar were a floor lamp that I had to rewire, a maple chair that we needed to reupholster, a box of about 20 mason jars that needed to be washed out before we could use them and that had no sealing rings. Nothing was free but lots of stuff came awfully close to it and it entertained two preschoolers for the hours while we were there.
That has been seasoned so well that anything you cook in it will have a remarkable taste, It just has to!!!!!. Holy cow ben, 1/4 inch plating will never burn or rust through. You could drop that thing off a bridge and it would still be in great shape. Great find and great repair. God Bless.
Well you go out for tractor and you come home with a smoker! That is better than going out for a tractor and coming home with that tractor that smokes! I am really loving the daily content. Please keep it up! You guys have such beautiful children! I'm glad to see they are growing up Barefoot like I did. I am 60 years old.
Only Ben would come happy, happy, happy after not getting a tractor. I see many smoked meals this summer. There is a tractor in your future. You have all of us wishing it for you. peace y'all
SCORE!!! I have a very healthy respect and a ton of admiration for your welding and machining skills being the proud wife of 40+ years now to my millwright hubster. Kudos!!!
This is what I LOVE about this family. Ben can fix up ANYTHING and Meg can prepare ANYTHING , AND for the most part, not a bit of it goes to waste by either of them.
I absolutely love auctions! I control myself by taking a limited amount of cash…otherwise I’m dangerous! Great score guys! Good job on that repair Ben! You did your magic as usual. Blessings🙏💖
That was pretty neat and those old smokers were heavy. Your repurpose skills are spot on and I love watching it come together. Cannot wait till the food gets smoked this summer!
Great what you can do with your welding gear. I noticed a few wasps flitting around that had not got the "you're outta here" message. I really love your gas blow torch... I can think of all sorts of things I could do with that. Hang in there. God watch over and bless you all.
There’s something beautifully nostalgic about the opener with Meg sitting in the passenger seat, while y’all driving down the highway, wearing the tree earrings and the gray t-shirt... love it!
My little great niece ran into the room during the welding montage and goes, "That's the manly man song!" Then she watched you for a bit and said, "Yep, he's a manly man all right," with a completely serious face that totally cracked me up. Thought you might get a kick out of it.
I have found that at many small estate auctions like this extended family will pay top dollar for items, even if worth little just to help the relative having the sale put some money in their pockets.
Donna, my Dad too would have loved watching Ben! He made/fabricated lots of items over my lifetime. He was a mechanic by trade but could fix most anything appliance wise. He loved finding redwood posts in a bay canal, turning them on a lathe and making lamps. His grandfather taught him furniture making as a child. I sure miss his presence and talent but Ben (and Meg) make me smile by making/baking most things homemade💙❤️💗🌺
@@kimcwhite6509 ty for sharing. I miss my dad too! He was retired MSgt and loved making furniture or any kind of wood working until he passed away 25 years ago. Ben really reminds me of my dad.
AHHHHHHHH! I am so happy for you. You were really wanting to get back to a "real" smoker. That is awesome. I am cracking up at myself for being so excited for "friends" that I do not know IRL. Y'all are going to be eating good, soon. Congratulations.
WOW ! Even though you did not get the tractor , you got a steal of a deal on those items you got. I love those Oklahoma Joe's smokers . They were built to last back in the day .
I had to look up a OK Joe smoker. Yours may be 25 years or older but a new one that looks just the same sales for about $650.00 at Ace (online). I'd say BIG score for you. And I'd say that the new one isn't as well constructed as the one you've got even with the repairs.
Something else to consider for content. Go to a tractor show where they have steam engines and Hit & Miss Engines. It would make great content and you probably could score a nice antique tractor at one (like a Farmall Cub). Also, it seems natural for you all to get into antique farm equipment. See the Sycamore Steam Show and Threshing Bee as an example of what I mean.
Great score ! It’s wonderful when you can pick up some thing like that and you know you can fix it up and make it a usable item for a fraction of what it would cost to make it. Thanks for another fun video your videos always make me smile! I love seeing your family living such a wonderful wholesome life!😁
So satisfying when you can fix an old piece of equipment with what you have and make it totally functional again. I have to add, it was so sweet when the Rhodes boys got their dad to buy them a welding machine, they got one exactly like uncle Ben's, so precious
Great! You got a smoker! My friends gave me their old electric Masterbuilt smoker and I used it on Easter to smoke three of our own farm raised pork shoulder roasts. They were delicious. That is so cool that you can rebuild good stuff and give it another life! It looks like it'll be great for lots of meat. Sorry you didn't get the tractor but that was a treasure. Thanks for this Hollars.
You got a good deal on that smoker, Ben. Congratulations! I know that you and the family enjoy smoked meats. The tractor will come along at the "right" time. I'll be praying that the Lord will see to it! ☺ God bless each of you.
My grandparents had an auction when they sold the farm and had to move on into town. The people that bought the place bought a lot of stuff. My favorite piece was the Holly Hobbie plate My momma got me then we found out later that it wasn't supposed to be up for sale. Grandma said her bestie gifted it to her for her birthday. It's always had a place on honor in my kitchen. And when Grandma came to visit it made her smile.
In the fire box there used to be a rack for the wood or charcoal to sit on, or even a basket made out of expanded metal or just expanded metal made into a sliding shelf
I bought a mid size tractor from Rural King. Front end loader and I got a 4' tiller attachment for it. Every time I see yall struggle with that garden I wish I could come do it in 10 minutes for you. That thing tills better than I could've ever hoped.
The smoker saga on this channel could be its own episode. Start with the beginning and the first smoker and then go through time-lapse storytelling of all the smokers up till this last one.
What fun! I love auctions - I have to warn you, they are addictive. I have purchased most of the equipment from my farm from auctions (tractor, skid steer, implements) - you name it. Plus - it’s just fun to go watch the folks. Thanks for sharing your lives. You should be so proud of what you have accomplished. What I love about your channel is the obvious love and respect you have for each other as a family. Thanks for being real.
Sorry you didn't end up with a tractor but getting that smoker is great. Meg, you are so blessed to have a husband so handy and Ben, you are so blessed to have a wonderful wife who cooks great...amongst other qualities of course.
I love watching you fix things or create new things, I think it's amazing first the homestead... It's amazing, you are amazing, your family is amazing! Thank you for sharing your lives with us!
We have that exact smoker. We bought it about 20 years ago if I remember correctly. There was a grill top on what you are calling the burn container. Made some good steaks on that grill top :) Ours came from Home Depot :)
Oooohh I can't wait to see all the use the new smoker is gonna get. I have a feeling we're gonna get a lot of shots of food in the smoker this summer lol
I bought my gas grill in 2000 and I’ve replaced it’s guts and grates twice before they didn’t make those sizes any longer. Warmer grate now has 2 steak size spots that aren’t broken so not done yet. It’s got the grates for your ceramic briquettes. Models from 8 years ago stopped that. And the cast iron is Heavy. So power washing, new coat of paint and a repair weld on the warmer. Another 20

My Dad was like you picked up lots out of garbage used to build lots.Rare quality these days.

Good find on the smoker. I was eye balling all the cast iron cookware at the auction. Lol
Great job!!! Ben you are such a talented man. I can smell the barbecue cookin!!! Blessings to you all!
Bringing new life to something almost forgotten is an amazing feeling. That smoker will give you many years of delicious food.
Auctions are so fun. Always great to find treasures you didn't know you needed .

It's also better than going out for a smoker and coming home with a tractor... much better on the budget the way they did it :)
Only Ben would come happy, happy, happy after not getting a tractor. I see many smoked meals this summer. There is a tractor in your future. You have all of us wishing it for you. peace y'all
I was hoping for a tractor, but happy you are happy! “I know a guy with a welder.”
Wow how cool guys- Ben you are the Master of reconstruction. Just Brilliant. Cheers Denise- Australia
Oh, my goodness, I love that music. I was moving side to side in my chair moving shoulders up and down. That's just a good feeling music.
SCORE!!! I have a very healthy respect and a ton of admiration for your welding and machining skills being the proud wife of 40+ years now to my millwright hubster. Kudos!!!
May you be blessed with the perfect tractor soon. Yippy SMOKED MEATS! Saw the barn kitty run by.
Wow that is so neat!! Happy you guys could find a smoker and able to fix it!
What a great deal and gonna be used for years to come cant beat that!!!
This is what I LOVE about this family. Ben can fix up ANYTHING and Meg can prepare ANYTHING , AND for the most part, not a bit of it goes to waste by either of them.

oh gee 20 yrs = "OLD"!!!!
Well aright, alright! Ben the builder gave an old smoker a makeover.. 👍👏👏👏. God bless y'all
Wow! Love the way y’all recycle. Not many folks have Ben’s skills!
Thanks for sharing!!❤️

Like the property they bought, God had something better. I'm sure God has a better tractor somewhere for Ben💙
There’s something beautifully nostalgic about the opener with Meg sitting in the passenger seat, while y’all driving down the highway, wearing the tree earrings and the gray t-shirt... love it!
I thought, "YES! Just like the good ol' road trippin' days!"🧡🧡🧡
Ben in his happy place. First he gets to go junking and then gets to play with his tools. 😄
My little great niece ran into the room during the welding montage and goes, "That's the manly man song!" Then she watched you for a bit and said, "Yep, he's a manly man all right," with a completely serious face that totally cracked me up. Thought you might get a kick out of it.
You have a wonderful talent and ingenuity! Your innovations and cost saving will certainly be handy in the future!
Congratulations on this fabulous acquisition
Sending positive prayers... I hope you find the right tractor!
Can I just say that the music was spot on for the video. Loved this one.
I have found that at many small estate auctions like this extended family will pay top dollar for items, even if worth little just to help the relative having the sale put some money in their pockets.
Sweet! What a find and we all know how much you like to refurbish metal... things. (Love the way Brett said "goodbye" in slow motion, lol.)
Amazing job! Really appreciate these "odd" projects.
Love from Sweden as always ❤️
Ben you and my dad would have got along great! He loved to repurpose stuff! 35 was a great price, bring on the bbq can I come!! Lol

They've sucked us right into their lives, right?🧡🧡🧡
Ben was almost “Giddy” that he got to weld something. And make something better. 😊

Meg! I Love the music you add when he is welding! It makes it So much more fun.
Nice score on the smoker too bad about the tractor. I love auctions, although estate sales are cheaper 😜. Blessings to all. 😊🇺🇲

Tetanus or bbq! Cracked me up from the start. Great find. Can’t wait to see what you smoke up.

That casual wave at the end....perfect timing :) 👋

My dad would weld anything. I just love watching u weld, it brings back childhood memories.
I wasn't sure if you were making a game of Tetris, or fixing a BBQ - or both.
I don't think you'll be burning through that 1/4" plate any time soon.
In the fire box there used to be a rack for the wood or charcoal to sit on, or even a basket made out of expanded metal or just expanded metal made into a sliding shelf
I wish more homesteaders would highlight the wonderful things you can get at auction
Oh how I love when you make things new again Ben! You have very important and valuable skills❤️ you are an important person in the community.
Auctions are a blast!!! We had never been to one until we moved to Nebraska. Then we were hooked!!!!
I bought a mid size tractor from Rural King. Front end loader and I got a 4' tiller attachment for it. Every time I see yall struggle with that garden I wish I could come do it in 10 minutes for you. That thing tills better than I could've ever hoped.

That smoker was a great find! I love farm, estate sales / auctions. Never know what you will find.
The other folks probably aren't as talented as you are Ben. Nicely Done🙌.
JO JO IN VT 💕😄

I used to tell my friends the rust and crud were flavor crystals...enjoy you guys!
Damn son. That's the Badera upright from OK Joe. A new one is $649 at Home Depot right now. You SCORED.
Sorry you didn't get the tractor. Happy you did get the smoker.
Once again, you have this old woman dancing in her chair 🙈That was cool music to Ben welding!!! 😂🤣😂
Auction are always fun!

Nice job!!! Nothing like a good auction. Enjoy the smoker!
Auctions are so fun and a nice way to spend time with the famiky
Nice find yall ✌❤✌❤
Quarter inch plate, that'll do 😉
A couple coats of high temp paint your golden! Thank you for sharing! 😎👍
Bless your souls! You know how to rejoice small things, you're far more rich than people with lots of money!
Wow great find!
It has Bens name all over it.
Ooooooh...i miss those old school outdoor auctions!!! Yay on the smoker!!..youll get a tractor when it's time😊
All I have to say is that “Ben is a Boss” with the torch!!! I really enjoyed the music accompanying this video…very apropos😉!
Those are some good welding jams!! 🎶 That was quite a find! Great work getting it back in shape!
That sounds like a God thing. He brings things back again, kind of like whisper, “Child, I saw your sacrifice, so here. This is for you. I love you.’
🔥Cleansed with Fire🔥
Ben, you've said this a few times.
Good find👍🏻
I love farm auctions!
Awesome score!
Absolutely love when things are repaired or repurposed! Too much waste out there. I have to say that I am jealous of the deal!
Ben you know you are a Surgeon . You can bring anything back to it's Glory.😂👍❤️Cannot wait to see the first piece of meat that goes on.
My son has just started doing some welding ... he is super excited. I didn't doubt for a second that you could get the job done!
Oh how fun! Yay you!!!
Loved your auction excitement, or do they call it fever!? Pity about the tractor but I can’t wait to see the joy when you do actually get one. 😆
I was hoping our girl got one of the pots!Nice smoker!
The Hollar Homestead and Sow the Land are my inspiration
Kudos for the welding segment along with the spicy guitar music. It was pretty relaxing to watch.
Great find & restore! Thanks for sharing!

How awesome, I just think of all the things you can get and repair to like “new”.
So happy for you.
You all please take care and be safe
