James has a dunk from the corner of the Free Throw line, which is about an additional 2ft. That has to be the furthest dunk EVER! There's also a missed alley oop and his arm pit is literally above 10ft. I had a homeboy I played against in high school named Immanuel McElroy he won state with Stephen Jackson back in 95’ Port Arthur Lincoln. He got a D1 ship to Cincinnati and played with James White and Kenyon Martin so I followed him a lot. He would tell me stories of James dunking and touching over 13ft easily!

Some people seem to be doubting Wilt here, so:
Yeah, in basketball he was not so absurd as the stats may lead you to, not only due to competition but also due to the pace of the era, so that part may actually be overrated
But he was in fact an athletic freak, having very good marks in multiple categories like track and high jump, which don't favor tall people at all, while also pulling some insane weight at the gym
And after leaving basketball, he also became the best volleyball player at the time
So yeah, he may not be insane enough for like a top 5 all-time in basketball, like we once thought, but his physical abilities are actually no joke

I use to play a lot of street ball, I knew several guys that could touch the top of the backboard with ease, like they were floating. They were never smart enough to go play college ball though to get drafted, such wasted potential. I've seen some crazy street ballers that could decimate any nba team.

I don't know if you can take these all that seriously. For example Spud Webb's vertical was only officially measured at 42", but estimates put it as high as 50". Especially back then, there weren't really formal ways of testing.

I think it was more of a 45/46 inch vertical. It's tough to find any dunks of him with his head that much above the rim to justify a 51" vertical.

Yall need to realize that there are ways to fib a measured vertical, and someone having a 48" recorded vert does not mean they actually jump 48" in the air.
For example, Jordan is 6'6", gotta be 6'7" in shoes. If he jumps 48", then the top of his head is 7" above the rim, and obviously he never actually got that high. I'd believe 43-44" since he seemed to get an inch or two above the rim on rare occasions.

And I'm here to debunk that 48-in vertical for Michael Jordan because his trainer was in an interview and said that Mike has a 52-in vertical recorded. They recorded him at 52 but unrecorded he believes if Mike jumps his hardest jump like actually really tries to jump because it's been said that he don't even be trying. If he gave it his all that he probably would have a 56-in vertical. That's insane. That's insane for a trainer to say that that's insane for a person to even have that. I've been searching for the footage where he said it, but I've been unsuccessful in finding it again

You do know that Jordan's 48 inch vertical is exaggerated right? He didn't get cut from his high school team, he didn't have the flu, never ran a 4.2 40, he did keep Isiah Thomas off the Dream Team, and he wasn't rusty or out of shape when his Bulls lost to the Orlando Magic etc...I could go on. Darrell Griffin aka Dr. Dunkenstein had the highest recorded vertical during the entire 80s decade.
