This was a love at first smell for me and my first Amouage. The transition from a challenging opening to ashy amber is very introspective and brings about the feeling of starting anew. Turmoil, grievance, reminiscence, peace. One of the best in my collection! Great review as always!
Wow, really interesting introduction to a house! I was also, almost, my first bottle from the house. Given how long it took me to accept this, I'm happy I got to it later. Beautiful description :)
I mean... they are not really comparable in my opinion, they smell completely different. But I can see how you might find Interlude a little heavy and dense.
I love the way you described Myths. This is something I would usually steer far away from, but you convinced me to check this one out. Royal Tobacco is so beautiful and made me want to explore more from Amouage.
Yes! Do get your nose on it if you can but remember that it's hard to understand. Royal Tobacco is strong and harsh but it's designed to be immediately engaging; Myths Man is not like that.
many years ago it was love at first sniff, never considered it as weird or hard to wear. warm chrysanthemums, smooth leather, a little bit of garage smell, fantastic. i also think that this is the real Amouage, and the couple itself i mean Myths W&M - for me it’s best from the brand. i own many other bottles, Figment Man, Overture Man, Library collection etc and i love it and wear it a lot, but talking about singularity and uniqueness, Myths couple is second to none. (i would maybe consider Figment Man as most unique, but Figment Woman is not, so). thank you for the review ❤
It is one of my favourites, if not The Favourite. It reminds me of my childhood, my grandfather, he used to cultivate chrysanthemums for a log time (and I grew up loving their smell) and he did sold them around the Day of The Dead in our home town, Cluj-Napoca, in Transylvania. I am at my third bottle of Myths Man and I hold it just to smell it - every now and then - now that it is discontinued. I search for it on the internet but had no luck. For me it's like the "Memento Mori" parfum in my collection. Loved your review. I salute you! ps. I need to try out Fusciuni's Spirito one day
Urinal cake is pretty much what came to mind when trying zoologist chameleon and dodo, especially chameleon. Not a bad smell to me but the thought of a clean public bathroom smell seems challenging to me
Hey Daniel. You mentioned Amouage Silver Oud being one of your Amouage favourites. Of course I don't know where and to what price you get your bottles, but Osswald has online a 50% off deal currently, for 281 instead of 562. Also Woods Symphony is 50% off.
I found a Bracken Man but its around 310 €, maybe to expensive. I know it is discontinued… but I must definitely decide…. Myths is wonderful and poetic
I've had my 50ml Myths Man for over a year and, whilst I appreciate the narrative and performance, I still battle with wearability. I'm overly sensitive to florals and all I get is Chrysanthemum and harsh ash. No animalics. For context, Silver Oud and Royal Tobacco are my top 2 fragrances of all time. I'm holding onto Myths, though, with the view that one day I'll understand it. Keep up the stunning work with the channel Daniel. We seem to have similar tastes and motivations for collecting.
@@aqeelah8287 Myth is a hard wear, you need to sort of surrender to it and let it do its thing. Silver Oud and Royal Tobacco are absolutely awesome but are designed around a more traditional appreciation curve. Don’t rush it, Myths will come to you.

I've never tried Myths but based on the way you're describing it I would live to hesrtyour take on the En Aparte line from Histoires de Parfums. Outrecuidant is a fragrance from that line that might have similar notes to Myths and that I feel like I haven't "understood" yet. Prolixe as well to a lesser extent. Have you tried either of these?
It sounds like an intriguing fragrance, but one I won't seek out a sample of even out of curiousity. In my previous career I was involved in palliation and the washing and preparation of bodies, and I don't think I want to even come near a scent that is potentially evocative of that. It does sound like a profound scent to experience, though.
wow, interesting experience! I'm taking you don't look bad upon it fondly? But yeah I totally get it, some perfumes are too evocative of something specific to us.
@@SeldomlyOften It's hard to describe. It was a privilege to be trusted to care for people in this way. But over time you end up bearing a lot of grief from the patient and their loved ones. And body preparation is not always easy, particularly when you have cared for that person when they were alive. It's not that I look back on it badly, but I also don't want to...wear it? in that way. Yes, it's strange how we can attach memories so strongly to scents!
Although i really appreciate how artistic this is done, i dont like how this smell on me. This one, figment man and imitation man unfortunately smell horrible off my skin. I love this melancholic fragrances and my favourite one is meos - odor93.
@ purple flowers iris orris violet are for me i would say red light in perfumery, really not the notes i enjoy too much, as they can go very plasticky on my skin. Imitation man is powdery iris bomb, and i understand why the plasticky feel can be annoying. On the other hand, i love Francesca Bianchi fragrances, they are so well blended and i do not detect iris in majority of her creations.
The reviews online are completely overblown: the is no poop, no rotten corpse, no pee... It's way more wearable than this but it still does smell like a funeral: very solemn and melancholic. Absolutely gorgeous.
I am really glad you finally got to review this one. It was one of those that got me into niche perfumery, although training my nose to really appreciate it took a while. After searching for a bottle for months, I finally got my hands on a 50-ml one, but I am still reluctant to open it and keep using my 2-ml testers (purchased separately) so that it lasts longer. 😄 I did not find it as challenging as many people do, and actually received quite a few compliments when wearing it. This works incredibly well on my skin, unlike some of the new releases (Overture Man, Material, and King Blue are some of the notable examples)...
@@nkllazarevskilllll really happy this one is working for you. Do you get any evocative imagery? It’s a strange, very unique perfume, not too challenging (other than the difficult opening). Love it!
@SeldomlyOften Absolutely... The journey starts from the moment I spray it, like a dream in which I'm transported to a magical place, a temple with rich history and significance... I am alone on this journey, just as you pointed out... I wonder if the dragon on the packaging was inspired by the ash component, because it fits the storyline very well... Oddly, I find this fragrance particularly wearable in higher-end Asian restaurants. I wonder if you have tried it as well in a similar instance and how it felt!
I want to love Amouage but there’s something about their stuff that just doesn’t work for me. Reflection is pretty great though, but 400-500 bucks good? I dunno.
Amouage in discounters can be had for £130- 150 for regular stuff. Library collection £170-180. The exceptional extraits for £250. Reflection and Guidance, being the most ‘popular’ are harder to find in discounters but not impossible. All three categories at that price point is a bargain. £140 is like Dior prices but you’re getting something with 10x better materials ( that’s forgetting scent profile and performance which is almost always better). I’m no Amouage fan boy, I only own 3. But when it comes to value they are undeniable. I understand Amouage critique if it’s not to your taste or too ‘oriental’ however when it comes to price, it is great value.
