  • The Czechslovakian, Saarloos and Volkosoby Russian Wolfdogs are all bred from wolves mixed with German Shepherds, but are all very different from one another. This is UA-cam's Best Guide to the fundamental differences between the 3 breeds so you can understand them a little better. Wolfdog expert Anneka Svenska will guide you through all 3 breeds talking about the history, temperaments and physicality.

    I am familiar with the CZ "wolfdog" as you call it. This was probably the most intelligent dog I have ever known. She was no problem around any children, was not at all aggressive unless provoked, and even another friend's Rottweiler was slightly afraid of her. She was very warm, very attached and loyal, and very expressive with her emotions. A truly great dog.

      They are the national breed of both CZ and SK. We have a 6 month old and yes, she is by far the smartest dog I've ever known. She is great with my kids 4 and 7. I've been looking into this Czechoslovakian wolfdog called Taiyo, she's really sweet, kind, and friendly but also playful. She's never had a home, and when I met her I fell in love instantly. But I didn't know quite if she was a right choice, due to temperament in certain wolfdog breeds. Now I know she'd make an excellent choice, so thank you, really! Now Taiyo is happy and in her sweet home, and so far so good!

Personally I am an absolute cat-person, being owned by two beautiful jet-black boys. Every now and then I think I should get a dog, but then I reach the conclusion that dogs may not really enjoy my laid-back life style. So watching your videos is probably the closest I will ever get to owning a dog and especially when it comes to wolf dog.

      @foofieviolet 5 років тому +2

      WILD THINGS there’s a documentary on coywolves on Netflix currently. I haven’t seen that one, but I did see one on pbs I think a few years ago. I can’t recall human deaths, but I can say there’s more of a danger because they can be just as large and powerful as a wolf, but are less timid, and are bold like a coyote and live in urban areas. In the documentary I watched they were definitely worried about that, and in fact one was growling at ppl if they cane in his territory, so they killed him, only to discover it was because he was protecting his mate and young pups in their den. Usually, they roam (I can’t remember the exact number, but for some reason my mind brings up the number 40? But can’t remember if it was miles or kilometers) over a night or two. They have extensive territories, and are very good at keeping out of sight in urban areas, so it was unique that this male was growling at humans and staying in one small area. It’s such a fine line between the safety of humans and animal conservation. Like the other commenter said, they also take up natural wolf territories

    • @amzarnacht6710
      @amzarnacht6710 5 років тому +9

      @@NoneNone-kp1qc Taking the cunning and boldness of a coyote and adding the power of a wolf to it... can certainly be problematic, though only passingly to humans. Yotes and yote-crosses will be far more willing to live in suburban and even urban areas, increasing the encounter potential with humans, than wolves which would avoid such areas like the plague. But, if you cross a coyote with a domestic breed that they don't *eat* before mating with and you have the same problem - plenty of cunning, plenty of potential for a lot of power in the hybrid (depending on the domestic).
      But such admixtures can also be advantageous for security, farm, and other work as the coyote is a *damn* smart animal that, if socialized from birth and trained properly could probably do any job required of modern security animals.
      As for coy-crosses and human fatalities: pure coyotes and coydogs have more reported attacks on humans than wolves or confirmed coywolves by a very, very large margin. And attacks on domestic pets by coyotes is a plague in many areas from farmland to inner cities.

      Salut! Am văzut ca si tu ești roman, deci sa vorbim pe limba noastra. In fine, asta depinde de spatiul pe care il ai, unde vrei sa il ți (in casa sau afara, in curte), si timpul pe care îl poți oferi.

    Where did you find the song at the beginning from? I've heard it in a mobile game I played before :D Thank you for the vid though! All three breeds discussed are incredibly gorgeous, and besides GSDs and Blue Bays, I have my eyes on eventually adding a Czech to my pack as well.

    HELLO FROM ISRAEL :-)
    You are amazing! I've been raising dogs for about 41 years. Since I was 5.
    My first was a real wolf just like from the forest. Colors of black and light gray. I was able to handle it and tame alone.
    Later, I had a special German shepherd who came to me when he was 3, after being abused until this stage. After two weeks the dog ate out of my hand and listened only to me very much. In addition, he trusted me about other people who tried to approach him.
    And other dogs, some mixed breeds.
    The last of these - Piranay is involved with English Pointer. Born and passed away in my hands at the age of 14 (98 Dog years!). He Weighed 55 kg, and had the appearance of a piranay, with character partly piranay and many of the pointer. He was an alpha dog. I trained him so well, to the point, that I talked to him like a human being, and he did and understood everything. Your dedication is noteworthy. I follow your videos and learn a lot.
    THANK YOU SOOO MUTCH! XOXOX

    Fantastic video, very informative...... I have a friend who has three Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs, they are all very different from one another in temperament as in night and day different...... I think a really important point to anyone thinking in owning one would be that you should be prepared for an array of temperaments that your wolfdog could possibly have and expect the unexpected rather than thinking you will get a specific temperament.... ranging from extremely coy (Shy) to extremely dominant...... as well as needing a decent sized enclosed high fenced garden...... and a dog that needs some serious daily exercise as in three x 1 hour cross country walks preferably of lead if possible......

    Another brilliant video! There was a wolf in my trail cam last week and I am wondering why I only saw one. He looked right at the camera as the picture was taken so I am guessing the cam must make some noise that I am unable to hear.

    • @emanuelaamati1297
      @emanuelaamati1297 5 років тому +5

      Hardly, inside the tamaskan there's no trace of wolf blood. It's just been created for resemblance of a wolf. It's just an husky mix as the lycos.

      You'd have to do your research on where wolfdogs are aloud, here in Oregon keeping one is illegal.

    Hi Anneka, I like you and your channel! I`m owner of a Saarloos Wolfdog. The wolf content of Saarloos Wolfdogs in Germany is not about 60 percent, they are not Mid Content. SWHs have a content about 30 percent ( less or more) and are Low Content Wolfdogs. With 60 percent it`s not a pure breed Saarloos Wolfdog. I love that dogs so much. My own dog has an open and very friendly character. He lives together with me in a capital. I wish you a nice day with your dog!

    Hi, my names Kenneth, I have had Siberian huskies & Samoyeds. My husky sadly passed about 9 months ago,& she lived to 18. I love your programs & I have learned so much. I have watched & rewatched your programs & I would love to get a Sarloos. The issue is , I’m in Ireland & have had had no luck in finding a breeder in Ireland & have had a lot of people trying to scam me. I know you’re very busy, but I would really appreciate any advise on breeders & cost of Sarloos .p.s I just want to keep it as a companion, part of the family pack, not a show dog. Thank you,I’ll keep learning from your shows.🐺

    I get a bit emotional watching you with your beautiful girl (don’t want to butcher her name lol). I was raised with German Shepards and I think it’s the eyes that remind me of my gorgeous, now past furry family. I have an advancing degenerative condition, so watching you and your videos is the closest I will unfortunately get to owning my dream breed Czech wolf dog. The up side is that I had to choose a breed other than a GSD and I have spent the last 14 years of my life with Tia, a pedigree staffy who has become my absolute best friend in the whole world. Thank you for all you do, it allows me the live somewhat vicariously through the videos. Peace from Somerset. Dan and Tia

Staffies too are amazing dogs and I'm sure you've shared so many fun times with your dog. I am really honoured to be able to bring you closer to your dream dogs. Take care and thankyou for the wonderful feedback 😁🐺🐾

    Such a cute video. You probably know more about the character of the breeds than others know about the character of the people. I added the CS wolfdog (vlčák) to my Quora answer on Czechoslovak inventions LOL.
    You know, I think that the CS wolfdog is the most recognizable breed in Czechia (although the police or army are still leading its ownership) - along with Cocker Spaniel, Dachshund, Golden Retriever - but the actual professionals' lists are led by the German Shepherd, boxer, Hungarian viszla, azavak, fox terrier, saluka, little bishon, porcelain, Weimar pointing dog, and Stafordsheer Bull Terrier. Dášeňka, the dog from the "dog biography" book by Karel Čapek - the inventor of the word Robot - was Fox Terrier. Fig the Maxidog from the animated cartoon seems like a St Bernard but he was mixed with a Bobtail (Old English Sheepdog). ;-)
