Ha! “Am I speaking to you or to your significant other?” Considering the conversation I had with her yesterday I’d say you were speaking to her. I loved the library but this one isn’t a budgetary threat (it’s out of my league). I have the first two VSL SE library volumes. I’ve been trying to finish Spitfire Studio collection and have been happy with their strings but will have to wait to finish it out. I’m glad I found your channel because I have been wanting to do this kind of music for about 12 years and hadn’t thought it possible without having an orchestra director as a close friend. It’s still hard to convince the bank manager that I should spend the money though 😄. Thank you again.

In addition to hearing you play Con Sordino which helps greatly, the tip at 11:26 is STELLAR. I have a serious request for another ThinkSpace course: how to use Cubase for scoring/Orchestration, with all of the tips you know, like the extra MIDI Track. That's not something that will be in the manual or the standard videos with "here's how you install and register". We need a HOW to best use Cubase and you are the best teacher for that. For instance, you started at 80bps... but I see tempo changes within a piece often. How, when and why do you do that? One example of topics for a new video course. Assume we bought and installed it and are ready with our piano sketches and even understand orchestration... how do we BEST sequence in Cubase? There's something called negative track delay. The manual shows you how to CHANGE IT. Pointless. When and why would you? And what's a good amount to start with, what are we listening for? And should we use Expression Maps? They seem helpful especially with Babylon Waves doing all of the work, but is hat the best way to go? If you did a course like that for the TS website using the latest v12, we'd be on that like koi fish the day after the ice melts. 😁

Who can afford Cubase? For the few who can justify paying such an absurd price for an unstable, resource hog of a program, they can read the manual, or watch Cubase tutorials on their own time.

Hello, one question please, I'm between buying spitfire symphony, chamber strings or berlin bundle libraries, which one would you recommend if I want the one that sounds as real as possible and of the best quality? I want it to compose music like Lord of the Rings, Disney... but I also want it to sound, working on it well, the closest to a real orchestra. I would love to know your opinion, thank you very much.

Thanks Guy, you just gave me a perfect explanation for my partner why I need Berlin Strings... I would be interested in how you would compare these with VSL's Dimension Strings? Or is that just trying to compare an apple to an orange, they are both fruit it's just down to which flavour you prefer.....

any suggestions for quartet sample packs featuring solo instruments only? preferably one with everything in it, all articulations, im figuring on only buying one massive one for a single job that is done well rather than trying to buy one that tries to do everything, and then only work to that limitation. thanks

  • @MrACangusyoungDC

I'm addicted to how well the skills of the players brought out my headphones, even through this long complicated chain of mics and sample engines and another player playing the samples then uploading to UA-cam and all. I usually say that guitar and especially electric guitar is the most dynamic instrument of all, but strings are very close second, and it's fantastic that technology can capture that. Especially when one (me) was an aspiring violist once but then became a guitar player but still love violins.
