My absolute favorite part of watching these tutorials is the parts when i disagree with you. I'm sitting there going "what you should do from here is this with the strings, then the brass comes in, and then it'd be cool." And, while obviously you go in a totally different direction, it's now given me the inspiration I need to jump off from and write my *own* piece that *does* do those things. So thank you Guy, never stop.
Hello Mr Michelmore, I'd like to thank you for your work, your tips, your (obviously) free Master classes online and for your good vibe. Not only you inspired me a lot as a musician but you also gave me so much tools to work with and it is always a pleasure to watch your videos. Your smile and your happiness is contagious. Cheers from Switzerland and have a wonderful day! Gaël
Hey, Guy! Hope you're having a great day! I'm a music noob. I am autistic and blessed with perfect pitch and have been composing music since I was 5! (I used to stim about on the carpet and listen to Beethoven symphonies back to back as a child). However, I know ZERO theory whatsoever. I compose entirely by ear and by memorizing patterns. I really appreciate your channel because you don't dwell on complex terminology but rather SHOW what you mean by examples. For someone who plays and composes solely by ear, this is VERY valuable to me! You're the main reason I've begun considering composition as a valid source of potential income someday. So, thank you, first off! For being so easily understandable, for your amazing sense of humor, and for putting all these videos out for FREE! What a legend! Now, I have a question, too. On your site, you have a class that's upwards of $20k. Who is that class geared towards? Could somebody without any formal music training benefit from your course? Or is it more for people who have completed college music classes? I am bedbound because of a neurological disorder, so I don't actually have the money or ability to take class, but... you are genuinely the first teacher I have ever managed to follow with this much success! I have been mentally drooling over your class just because of how amazing these videos have been. So, I would like to know what prerequisites I would need if I ever bought your class. Thank you!
having perfect pitch is absolutely amazing! i have a masters degree in music composition, but i cannot read or write music, and have zero formal classical training. however i've learned a modest amount of music theory through practise and watching videos like this one, so i also write by ear, and make a living off of composing! i just wanted to say: don't feel like you *need* to know everything there is about music theory to be a good composer (even though it is extremely helpful) as writing by ear is already such an impressive feat! :-) edit: i would also go as far to say that i have learned more about composition from watching people such as Guy than from university!

Absolutely fascinating watching someone who knows exactly what they are doing, and how to do what they are doing, so easily create something wonderful. You are an inspiration, thank you.🍷
It’s a great deal if you haven’t already bought most of the individual libraries. I think I had everything but Firewood Piano, which I don’t need. I regularly rely on Epic Strings and Winds for sketching. They seldom stay in the final polished versions. But they’re great for getting an idea down quickly. The Cinematic Perc, though, is great if you EQ it to taste. The brass sounds great, but its usefulness is limited by the fact that the patches are all in octaves. You can’t play just a trumpet line, for example. On the other hand, as you implied, if you’re supplementing it with the free Discover, you can get around that limitation easily enough. One could do quite a lot with just Discover, this library, and a couple of the free synths and samplers that come with most DAWs these days.
Thanks Guy!! As always, "Impressive...Most impressive!" I tend to stare at a blank template not knowing what to do first and you come along and put something beautiful together in 30min. Its really inspirational!!
I believe anything in your hand, no matter what, music software, hardware or not, music instrument or not, or even without nothing, you can make them good, you can make beautiful music using them
You are such an amazing and inspiring teacher! Thank you so much for this video. I feel like I have attended a master class! Great stuff! I have Spitfire products too - well, the free ones!
It's so hard to finish your videos because they're too good. @Logan Strong said it... I'm always either so inspired I just need to play something myself NOW,,, or even better, I need to test a new idea, based on a little more theoretical understanding. It's same thing I guess but, it's a very different feeling for me, and I love both). This time it inspired a comment too but I got to go play Vera now or she'll get jealous. Just for the record ,,, I'll be back to watch the last 22 and a half mins in as long as it takes ... Frikkin love you dude! Thank you again and again. Never stop! please? ... Unless you want to I guess lol
I bought all these separately over time, great deal for the bundle! They are pretty great (for the price, obv there are higher quality instruments out there)
Cracking video as always Guy, great run through of BBC Orchestra!! Looks like a pretty good price of VST Kit for the money! Thanks for the time you put into your videos!!👌👌👌
Wow. So effortless. Now, you just hit that big GMaj chord after the ascending line, and started creating the big brass version of the theme. The movie has become a super hero show! Lol. The camera turns from the pleasant suburban scene to a caped super hero flying through a cloudless sky. 😊
Great composing! At first, I didn't like Originals Intimate Strings but the more I used it, the more I grew to really like that library. Now, I own four Originals libraries in which one or two of them always ends up in my template for a song.
The intimate strings library can add a nice velvety touch when in combination with other string libraries. I've had success with that. It's a relatively cheap way to enhance other cheaper libraries if on a budget, I've found.
Good taste! I have a couple more premium libraries now but intimate strings is still one of my favorites. Truly some beautiful sounds. Personally, I like them better than epic strings.
8:23 brings something to mind. Can't quite recall if its Ronnie Binge or Vaughan Willians. The next phrase in whatever I'm thinking of is a run up in the woodwind.

I already had most of these instruments. I like the instruments in this bundle. I guess I take some issue with the brass because it’s hard not to make it deafening 😂. But if that’s what you need then it’s great. Awesome piece, Guy! I always enjoy watching you put these together.
I have 3 of the 5. Spitfire wants $39 to complete the set. Not too bad, but they know I've already got 2 Albions, BBC Orch and about 5 or 6 others. Will think about it
Anything sounds good in the hands of a master, inmpressive! ❤I wonder what you could get out of an old Proteus Orcherstral MIDI module from the 80's? That would be a fun challenge! 😉
hey Guy, i see that you have an arturia keyboard now,i have the 61 keys version, all round great midi controler, love your composition you made here, always inspiring to see and hear your workflow, cheers, have a great weekend
That looks a very different room to where you're normally in..... On topic though, i had some of these that I'd bought separately - strings and brass, but have added the rest as part of this promotion, which I got at a discounted price for having two or three of the packages. Looking forward to using it for exactly the same reasons as here, as a writing aid.
A bit off topic but still: I see you changed midi keyboards from NI S88 to the Arturia Keylab 88 in the studio. Any particular reason for that or did the studio S88 simply replace the shed S88 after the unfortunate 'tea incident'? Thanks for the great content!
Wow, we have the same coffee mug (or tea in your case). Wonderful video. Now I'm going to finnish the Sampled Orchestration in a Weekend course :) I can recommend it to everybody.
Hello Guy, have you considered trying out presonus symphonic orchestra? Or maybe you did it already? It's 99$. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it, because it's really cheap as for a full orchestra library. Is it any good or worth it? For a beginner maybe? Or is it better to go with some spitfire or eastwest?
Hi there, am a big fan of your work and wanted to ask what libraries you tend to use when composing. I am currently very confused about what libraries I should get since I haven't found a video discussing the following topic. I am looking for the best complete orchestral library, or I would like to know which exact libraries I should get for each section of an orchestra (preferably the first). The cost of these libraries doesn't matter. It would be a great help to me and probably many others if you could make a video covering this topic. Thank you very much. Keep up the good work!
I like much what you are doing...big fun. And you have proven again, that it is easier to write to the death of the hero than the silent mourning of his mother at his grave. When you started with this motiv, I thought of, well, much more adagio and more of dying than swelling notes. Maybe another day!
Considering I have Nucleus Lite, I am not sure I would really need something like this, as inspiring as you made it sound. How would you stack it up against Nucleus Lite? I have BBCSO Core as well, but ensembles are nice sometimes.....
Nucleus lite is better imo, I have both. The best thing about the spitfire is the strings, but then again, you can buy the strings by itself for $29. The strings in Nucleus lite are still great, but Nucleus brass is WAY better and not limited to octaves.
Hello Guy, Is this a separate studio that you're recording in? It looks great! Do you still have your Native Instruments controller in a different setup? You are a true inspiration for everyone who loves music and composing.
I own most of this bundle and for the money, even twice the cost, it's a bloody bargain! These sounds are incredible, more importantly, one can record some wonderful music with them. Go grab them!
Guy, I noticed you're using an Arturia Keylab 88 in the big studio. When did you start to use it? Hope you'll make a video about the Keylab if you're enjoying it. Thanks.
I need your advice sir. I don't compose for a living but I don't like to buy "just ok stuff" I don't want to spend my money on this Originals Orchestra to just upgrade to something way better later. Should I just save up and get The Abbey Road One Orchestral Foundation or even the Spitfire Symphony Orchestra? I want the absolute beat sound quality, realism and more options than the originals
You seem to always make something out of nothing! That’s a compliment by the way 😊 I think many people would disregard the initial ideas you come up with but you always make something so great out of them. The bit showing how the harmonies changed your initial idea is a gem
Hi ! Thank you for all the amazing content and tutorials. I have a short question: what for did you bounced some tracks and still got the original midis too… do you double the track of one certain instrument? Or is it just to get mor volume? I have not got that. Whats the advantage? Or is it for volume automation? I would be happy for a reply. Thanks again and superb courses! Greets TweakerRay

SOS!! These videos are amazing first of all. I’m hoping somebody will get my call for help who can help me (as I’m sure the man himself Is busy making more amazing videos for us). I NEED to know how he made those beautiful ascending triplet runs at about the 12:30-13:00 area) without actually playing triplet runs!! Somehow just by playing the chords and pushing a magic button, they appeared gorgeously! If anybody knows, please let me know.
By the way, a little bit offtopic. Yesterday I watched an animal documentary about Tsavo National Park on TV. At the end it said Guy Michelmore was the composer. It was the first time I saw your name in the credits. Beautiful music to the depressing thread of the documentary, animals being eaten by other animals. 😏
Hey Michael, another great review! Thank you. I notice that you've changed master keyboards... after much research I've done the same and have the 61 note KEYLAB mkii version of the ATURIA you are using, which I have sat on top of my old 88 note weighted Clavinova which I love - thus now having both a synth feel plus the weighted keys from the Clav. I can't find your review of the ATURIA... or have you yet to do one? My research has paid off as I'm absolutely delighted with the KEYLAB. I would be keen to hear your thoughts/review.
Your videos are always enjoyable and fascinating to watch. So, i am 17 minutes and 40 seconds in to the video. You just added a little counter melody, and that involved a play through or two of what you have thus far. As of the most recent (in my experience) iteration--including the new counter melodic thing--this sounds very cinematic. I am getting a mental picture of the early parts of a movie: near the end of the intro credits, the camera has settled on a suburban street of similar houses, lawns, trees, etc, and we are now waiting for a prologue moment to start the movie, perhaps dad has just left for work and mom is finishing the kids lunches before they run out the door. Nothing bad is yet happening--that will be at the end of this scene at the soonest (or maybe not for some time) as the pleasant background is revealed that tells the viewer the stakes of the story...
Quick question: why did you switch from Native Instruments to Arturia? Same question for DAW, why you start using Cubase? Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thanks for the content and effort you put in 👍 would you be able to make a video about audio levels for social media and music platforms like Spotify, especially with cinematic music that are not so intense. I use Cubase. Thanks, Chris 👍
Guy do you or is it good to have an idea ahead of time what the musical style you want to do generally? For example if I watch a movie I like the music to and think I would like to try my take on that?
@@ThinkSpaceEducation they have added a whole fantasy orchestra range!! And also a kind of electronic cinematic pack called Forbidden Planet. Think you'll enjoy it! I've been using their packs now for about a year, and i think it's great value for money. Really good starting place for Amateurs like myself as you get a whole range of great instruments to experiment with without investing thousands straight off the back! 👌

I have a problem with Spitfire, Not the quality of their products, but the way they treat you after you've bought some of their Apps. I only have a 1Gig C drive, so it gets full up quite quick. So I reformat it once a year. (I'm on a pension, so would like to buy a 2Gig drive, but can't afford it, with the price of everything going sky high) So I went to reinstall Abbey Road and it's instrumentals, and I get a message that I can no longer use it, as I've installed twice before. Now I understand piracy, or giving it to someone else, but this has only been on one PC. So Spitfire are saying Thanks for the money, you can now jog off. Sorry for the rant, but I feel like I've Mugged, Love your channel btw, and I've learnt so much from your tutorials, Thank You.

It still amazes me that this is £99. I'd have done anything to have samples near this quality for £99 back when I was studying music at college.
Tell me about it! To think what we paid back in the day
Hi Guy! Have you changed your keyboard (again)?
How do you like the key lab?
if you had been my music teacher way back, my life would be completely different.
He's always used Cubase, with occasional appearances of Logic.
Originals choir finish's this off. I wonder why they didn't include it? I found piano was a bit hefty on the RAM.
Because they would like you to buy their stuff! So they wont give you everything you want in one go
you changed your controller? Using an Keylab 88 at your pro studio but still using the KKS88mk2 at home in the shed?
i write a lot of theme music and would love to run one by you sometime, but only if you have time.
Hi my friend is 99 pound is yearly or one time pay ? By the way your videos are very informative keep it up ❤❤❤❤
The most important isn't the librairies it is your composing and orchestration skills
Thanks for the content and effort you put in 👍 would you be able to make a video about audio levels for social media and music platforms like Spotify, especially with cinematic music that are not so intense. I use Cubase. Thanks, Chris 👍
I have all the eliments seperately so i don`t need the £99 orchestra,I use NOire Piano.I love your channel loads,
Thank you - yes Noire is good - the originals choir is really excellent as well
Guy do you or is it good to have an idea ahead of time what the musical style you want to do generally? For example if I watch a movie I like the music to and think I would like to try my take on that?
Id actually love to see your opinion and run-through of EastWest Hollywood Orcherstra. You get a ton for just 10 quid per month!
I think I did that but I will revist it shortly
@@ThinkSpaceEducation they have added a whole fantasy orchestra range!! And also a kind of electronic cinematic pack called Forbidden Planet. Think you'll enjoy it! I've been using their packs now for about a year, and i think it's great value for money. Really good starting place for Amateurs like myself as you get a whole range of great instruments to experiment with without investing thousands straight off the back! 👌
I have to pull myself away to make dinner,,,,,,,,but I love the song so far at 7:01 Im your new sub :>) Cheers mate,,,,,,I'll be back ! get to the Chopp'a Nahoooooo

Hello Guy from sunny hot California. I see you switeched to the Arturia Keylab 88. When did you do that and why?
I have both - NI in the shed and Arturia in this studio - they're both great
that's a beautifully spent 99
If you contact support they can reset your permissions - Ive had that a couple of times
