    For anyone in Lake county, my favorite spot is a road called SE182nd Avenue Rd about 20 miles west of Altoona off of Hwy 42. Lots of good twisties. At the End of the street make a left and there are more twists that take you up to hwy 40.

    That is the one thing that I miss since I moved to Florida over 10 years ago. I come from the land of twisty mountains. Although I could ride all year, I miss the close proximity to challenging roads

    Additional information about CR13 in St Johns Co. The route runs from Spuds on the south end to Julington Creek on the north end. It's about 44 miles from Spuds to the Speedway gas station. Makes a nice trip when you run it both ways plus the ride to the start. Enjoy!

    You and I have similar backgrounds. I live in Sumter Co. and my wife and I ride the roads around Nobleton, Brooksville, Floral City, Webster, Hosomssassa, etc. on a regular basis. I'm grateful to live in such a beautiful place and have the opportunity to ride where most would have to pay to experience! Hope to see you at fall Daytona😊😊

    Have also been in Fl since the 70s. Another couple of nice rides not far from you are cr-42 from just north of Lady Lake to sr-44, and sr-40 just east of Ocala thru the forest, to the Astor area and the St Johns river. I currently live just west of St Augustine, and as mentioned in some of the other comments, cr-13 from spuds, to the julington creek area along the St Johns river is a very scenic and curvy ride also.

      A couple of cool places to stop for food near Rt. 42 is, for breakfast,” Ducks Dam Diner” and for lunch, “Gator Joes”. “Ducks Dam Diner” has real country breakfast at reasonable prices. When ordering pancakes, order one because they’re as big as a Frisbee! “Gator Joes is on Lake Weir in Weirsdale. Decent bar food and nice view of the lake. That area was famous for the shootout between The Ma Barker gang and the,”G men” (FBI) during the gangster era of the 1920’s.

      P.S. There’s a great seven mile road near Ducks Dam diner called,”SE182 ave rd. “ it’s between,”Medors corner and RT. 42. It’s only seven miles but it’s a great freshly repaved rd. that skirts the forest. One of my favorite rides.

    While we can generally ride year round in FL, finding decent roads can be a challenge. I spent 30+ years in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area and there's literally no curves, elevation changes, etc. to be found except on interstate entrance ramps. Plenty of places for high speed runs but that gets boring and dangerous after a while.
    A number of years back, i moved further north into the Treasure Coast region- Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties- and there are some ok riding roads up here due to the Atlantic Ridge.
    But the best riding I've found in FL is in Lake, Sumter, Marion and Citrus counties. You'll find plenty of more 'challenging' roads than the typical flat/straight FL roads but... who the heck wants to live in CentFla? No breeze, constant and brutal humidity, population growth that's out of control, rednecks galore- no thanks.
    If you're going to live in FL, you gotta live near one of the coasts, period. Why else would you live in FL if not for the Atlantic Ocean or Gulf? I recently tried CentFla- north of the wretched Orlando area for 6 months- and it was a miserable place to live. They can keep it. Glad to be home again on the Treasure Coast.

    Jerry, thanks for the great information. I have had the Insta360 for a while now, my secret was to watch a few UA-cam videos to learn as I was doing. I only use the basic features like following the action (actually planning for where you want to look)What really help was editing my granddaughter’s soccer game, that will drive you nuts, but it helped. I’ve never seen a motorcycle with no front brake and a gear shift rigged up to be a tank shift ON THE LEFT with the lever, a braised on stiletto.

      Can you elaborate a bit on this Tomoka - Ormond Beach loop? Starting point, end point?

    • @williamforbes5826
      @williamforbes5826 Рік тому

      Sure! Start on Granada Blvd (SR40) in Ormond Beach eastbound. Just before the intercoastal waterway turn left (north) onto N Beach St. Follow this north past the sugar mill ruins and Tomoka State Park about 12 miles to Walter Boardman Lane and turn right. Drive east to High Bridge Rd and turn right again. Follow High Bridge Rd to the end at A1A and turn right again! (Or right onto John Anderson Dr just before A1A) Follow A1A south back to Granada Blvd (SR40) and turn right.
      There are a couple of variations on this route, and I've ridden this many times over the years. From Tomoka State Park to High Bridge Rd is a shaded, tree lined route. Enjoy!
