When Brown said he personally designed the knife, it was a smear against the actual designer and the knife itself. I had one of the first Tracker knives from tops ... and finally got rid of it after a few weeks. Nice review and all the best.

When I acquired my first TBT#1, I hated it, and sold it a year later, but I wanted to like it……about another year went by I decided to try one again…..my problem with the first one is I didn’t know how to use it…..now the TBT#1, #2, #3 and #4 are my favorite survival knives ever, and I have alot of knives…..

I have the Tom Brown Tracker1 and the Tracker Scout, when the movie The Hunted came out I had to get one just to have but it turned out it’s a good camp knife that can do just about anything you need to do. It’s a challenge to sharpen and it takes time to get a skill set with it but when you do it’s a great knife .

Well done, I started with the T4 as a backup to my bush knife. Fell in love with the design, now I’m to the point of full custom Beck style versions with premium steels like 3v and nitro v. Just gets more expensive from there. Tracker Pack 35

The haunted came out when I was a kid and I fell in love with the design right off the bat to the point where I studied it and went through a ton of books both Bushcraft and night making to understand it. As much as I don't care for the tops version, it is a really good knife. I prefer the days back Wilderness survival which is the one that was used in the movie and I've made a couple and if you understand what each part of the knife is used for and know how to use it properly, it's an outstanding design. You better look at the design like any other product out there, what's its intended use and what are you capable of doing with it at your skill-set and knowledge level.

Great video, I used the TOPS T2 as EDC for over a year. Solid blade, good heat treatment but the cutting is vastly improved by adding a convex edge. Thanks for talking about BCUSA Tracker Action Pics thread, over 15k replies and 498 pages as of this video. For anyone interested in the actual designer, it was Rob Russon.

I didn't know the t2 was a hollow grind, I thought it was a flat ground knife. I prefer the t3 because, I think the t2 is too small to utilize the double blde design, but also, the t3 is 3/16, like the Beck trackers and cuts a little easier, less drag and friction there. That's also probably why they did a hollow grind on those t2s.

I own a variety of knives: Kabar 1247 warthog, Kabar USMC, Schrade schf9, schf2sm, Gerber prodigy, Buck 119, Les Stroud Camillus Arctic and Mountain, Camillus St-6, Cold Steel bushman, Uncle Henry golden spike, OKC rat3 and others. I have never had a desire for a Tracker knife. Your video shows that it has some capabilities, so it seems like it wouldn't be useless in the woods, but it would not be my first choice. I won't say anything bad about someone who owns one, it just seems like it would be clumsy in my hands.

Very very good video thank you Brother. I am a relative novice on knives and bush craft (I am a hunter not a bush crafter) but the way you demonstrated it provided a perfect picture of how you can use the blade. Looks like a very effective design to me. Cheers Dave 🇺🇸 🇳🇿

Thanks John for the review. My only problem with the Tom Brown Tracker is it has limited self defense capabilities. Please make mine a Prather War Bowie from Tops as it is not only tactical, but also a great woodsman knife.

Nice homage to the Tops Tracker series. I’ve got the 1,2,& 4. The 4 is my personal favorite out of the Toos lineup. I put the 2 in my gal’s get home bag along with a William Collins Nessie and a Fiskars hatchet.
I have other Tracker WSK knives which I prefer but the Tracker still works in all its sizes and build materials.
The Skullcrusher SXB will outperform the original Tracker design. I especially like the lengthened “hatchet” area for chopping and batoning for wood processing. But it is huge and heavy.
I have the BRK Trakker and it is a great knife as well, no saw for notching though.
I have one of Dave Beck’s last custom order WSK knife combinations with a Saranac and I had him make the WSK thinner than the original design. For most survival needs I don’t need or want to carry the larger knives but I want to be prepared and teamed up with the 4” Saranac covers fire making, shelter building, and game processing/camp chores. I put this “system on my motorcycle for Moto Camping.
If I need more umph than that it’s time for a saw and axe.
I also have a Kukri/Tracker/WSK ordered from Origin Knives in the UK which I’m excited to try out.
Do I/We need the Tracker/WSK knives? Maybe not but they are functional and like you stated they are skill builders and calorie savers (the 1/4 round is one of the best features) if used with skill.

Thanks for the honest and informative review, Jon. I personally prefer a simpler blade design, but I think I get why some people love the Tracker, especially as a survival tool. It's versatile and durable, and that's a perfect combination for a survival knife. I favor the same things in my own survival knife choices; I just seek them in a different form/design language.

I'm with you on the T1, the T3 is the sweet spot in my opinion. I have both and I find the T3 is a far better chopper and doesn't pull your wrist when you're using it. I was looking for something that was multi-tool bushcraft/survival knife. Something that would be a replacement for the camp axe in the kit but also have other uses.

I like the tracker 2 as an easy carry, do all knife. However, if I'm really serious tho I carry the full size tracker. I love kydex sheaths and carry it strong side with just the upper belt clip. I removed the lower one as useless. Horizontal carry in the small of the back is not for me either!

The 2 is my favorite of the series ...I've never pulled the trigger on them because i wasn't sure it would fit exactly what I do out and about ....I'd be buying it strictly because of the Movie , Love of Tops , and Tom Browns Teachings love him or hate him ....actually that is enough I better just get one lolol.....I have the Brush Wolf and Nate and Morgan at HoughtonEra are craftspeople in every sense...cheers my friend !! ;:,;, Spook

One thing that I think people get a bit confused about this knife is they what it to cut down 8" trees. In a real survival situation, or even camping. You really only need fire wood thats 4" round. And in a survival situation, I'd be grabbing that low hanging fruit. Wasting less energy.

The knife is only controversial to those that don't properly understand how to utilize it, and expect it to operate like most common knives. This is a multi-tool of a knife, and it fits all of those functions extremely well, thought it may not be the best individual tool available for any singular task.

JOEX beat the hell out of this blade. Survived the most brutal and abusive durability test I've ever seen. It took him to shoot it to destroy it. Honestly it's Tops most durable knife they have. The only negative is its grip when it comes to chopping
