They are having to release water from Oroville dam, now. First time since 2019. Also at Folsosm Lake where I live. Thank you so much for your reporting of California during our incredible weather events. Best on UA-cam!
Citrus heights here me and my neighbor we're lucky to be flash flooded from the culvert behind our house thankfully I don't have sliding glass doors that lead into my living room like she does, her whole house got flooded
@@lisapolanski9379 It isn't bad. Folsom is used primarily for flood control. So it is doing what it was created to do: helping with flood control. However, we have gotten an incredible amount of rain and more is expected this week. But it is not flooding at Folsom Lake. Thanks for asking.
Just wanted the good folks of California to know we love yall and sorry yall keep getting slammed by these weather conditions!!! Much love from Texas hang in there❤
Getting rain hail mix now at Don Pedro. (Thunderstorm arose earlier than yesterday). I isolated my wifi stuff. 2hrs later...now Flash flood warning~creeks.
My little 75 year old bungalow here in west LA wasn't constructed for winters like this. Months of relentless rain have waterlogged all the exposed wood, which is now crumbling. My fences, gate, outdoor doorjams and window casings are all crumbling. This is just ridiculous.
Thank you‼️ I have shared your site w/friends & relatives. You make me laugh, I feel like I’m listening to a football game.😂 Very enjoyable even if we are getting soaked.
We live in the southern Sierra on the Kern River. The river got to a flow of 45,700 cfs. Thanks to and your watching this storm, we were able to alert many of what was coming, and they started preparing. Have wait and see for the next one. We are still under mandatory evacuation. Thanks again
I'll be up in the foothills near P-ville (1619 MSL) maybe tomorrow, but have to drive through Hell A. to get there... I'm using your presento to help make my timing be safe!
With all of the precipitation, it’s clear how the alluvial fans that the cities sit on formed! 😮 When studying the geology of the San Bernardinos, it was hard to imagine the powerful forces needed to move that much alluvium. I get it now!
The first time I flew across country I marveled at how the entire landscape east of the Rockies appears to be a massive flood plane. Now we know it was, just imagining it.. wow! Heard years ago that the LA basin was formed by tornados. Waiting
Crazy how year after year we had heat and sunshine and then since Jan of this year California has had three wet months and snowy months who the hell did the rain dance
A friend who just crossed over the Sierra told me that there are 30-40 foot high snow banks along the roads. I don’t know where the heck they’ll put the snow that is falling now, they will have to start trucking some of it away from roads to plow the new snow off the highways. Twelve more feet expected in the high country? Incredible! Any homes that aren’t yet buried soon will be, this could become a life-threatening emergency. Mother Nature forgot to check her calendar, Spring is supposed to start in eight days. Maybe our spring will consist of warm, wet snow and rain, instead of cold and dry snow. I’m still hoping for a big and long-lasting snowpack, for gradual infiltration and groundwater recharge later this year, I hope the temperatures in the mountains fall.
I used to live in the little town of Santa Cruz which Is on northern end of Monterey bay. I remember that in 1983 it was steady rain for three weeks in February.... This current weather is so much more than that time...I don't live there anymore....
Thanks a million! Here in Lake County, we hav no local weather or news to depend on...lWe have to Trey to guess what our situation is unless we luck out and either news from from Sacramento or Sana’a Francisco actually shows us on their radar feed!
Thank you for updates. Local Los Angeles forecasts are not always accurate ... especially phone apps, which update in real time to try to correct themselves LOL
The rain hasn’t been constant today, but when it comes it’s super-intense, my car’s wipers could barely keep the windshield clear coming home this afternoon. A few times I was standing in sun, getting drenched in rain, blowing across, I suppose. (North Bay).
It was weird near the Crystal Springs reservoir today. I was out for a long run and I was going in and out of clouds. One moment it was sunny the next it was raining. Very localised dense clouds!!
I need to drive from Portland, Oregon down I-5 next week to California. Will there be a safe window to make that drive? Perhaps Wed-Friday? Thanks for any suggestions.
late Monday AR expected to go thru Tuesday and clear off Wednesday to unsettled..down in California part of pacific nw..Fri-Sat so far are best guesses.
@@wendygerrish4964 I was thinking of leaving Thursday morning to get down into California. I am going from Portland all the way to Shasta County. VIA I-5. I thought it would be clear enough then unless I shouild wait.
Sounds like when i would try..where in California though? Just be prepared, and be prepared to take a motel room enroute if things go unexpectedly bad.
Get a go bag stocked! You know if this professional says do it, not maybe you might want to… it’s going to be a killer storm. Folks, some people are already in dire circumstances because they weren’t set up for the weather we’ve already had, but the approaching storm is going to be a history maker. Because it’s warmer air, there’s potential for a lot of crazy winds besides the heavy persistent rain.
And they wanted to redirect the Mississippi. Remember that so next time something happens you realize how fast these people jump the gun. Never let a good crisis go to waste.
What I’m saying is everyone was saying this about the last “Storm” and it want anything close to January systems or anything close to insane rainfall..It puckered out at least where I’m at which is between Sac/Stockton..Kinda feel like this is click bait
I’m trying to make it back to Sacramento from Boise and have to drive through Reno/Truckee area and over Donner summit. When do you think the next best chance to make it over the Sierras will be? Thanks!
Before Monday night! Dont forget chains often required to have with 4wd over summit. But always check local weather as you approach~ cal trans road conditions/delays/accidents -usable on mobile phones.
@@marianne3024 It could be faster with deliberate field flooding. But that raises the thorny question of who floods their fields. And it takes even longer to replenish the deep aquifers that are getting increasingly tapped out to the point that major ground subsistence has occurred.
We Californians thank you! You are by far the best on UA-cam
You are so welcome

Best weather videos on UA-cam! Thank you
Wow, thanks!
I love Ryan Hall Y’all but your coverage of the west coast is even better. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Will do!

Happy Sunday Michael
Reno Tahoe areas, warmer temps, rain rinsed everything and melted a lot of that road ice, and slush. Truckee river up about 2-3feet.
Big Bear too. Some areas near sugar loaf no snow on the ground
I dig the side by side models, very interesting.
Very cool
Lake Tahoe at 9 ft of snow
Thank You from Plumas County CA, POrtol
The rain is crazy here in the Central Valley rn
Are crops destroyed?
Haven't heard anything on the crops. It's been non stop rain since i left work this morning. There's a possibility of t-storms here as well
@@pelicannurse7397 it’s not crop season
Orange crops are probably benefiting from all this rain
Walnuts and almonds blooming. Rain and wind knocks some the blooms off.
Bad for “ Crop Season” in the Sacramento valley.
Thanks Michael . We appreciate you sir
I like the way you put the different models side by side
