    thank you for sharing your experiences!it was similar to how I prepared for my Masters in General Psychology degree I just finished. I was confused for a second and thought you did a masters in psychology, but it looks like you did a masters in counseling (which is the next degree im going for)! I'd recommended distinguishing clearer between the two because as I found out/realized the hard way, a master's in psych really only gets you ready for a Phd/psyd. if you want licensure as a LPCC, LMHC, LMFT etc. you actually need to study *counseling* at an accreddited school. the course work for a masters in psychology can also wildly differ from counseling.

      Wow thanks for commenting and making that distinction clear! I had no idea there was such a big difference between the two! I got a degree in counseling psychology so I thought they were pretty similar 😅😅 And oh nooo, it sounds like you're on your way to get two masters degrees now? Wow you'll be so prepared once you start seeing clients then!

      @@techtotherapy yes. it wasn't my intention but I ultimately want to see clients (but not do research or become a licensed psychologist). I feel like my psychology background will help me when i see clients but I'm not entirely sure how!

      Hi! I would say in my area, the job market for therapists is pretty solid. I believe there are reports of this market growing in the future too as therapy gets less and less stigmatized

    Can I ask which school you went to? I am currently in the process of trying to find a program that fits my needs and have also realized how difficult it is to find!

      Thanks for your question!! I'm actually not yet open to sharing where I went to school on here (for personal reasons) but here's a list that might be helpful! It has a list of California schools with LMFT programs. I briefly looked at this when I was looking at schools. I don't think it's comprehensive, but it's a good place to start! www.mftcalifornia.com/list

    I'm from india, planning to come us for MS psychology, how much it will cost for international students?

    • @techtotherapy
      @techtotherapy  4 дні тому

      That's a good question, I'm actually not sure. I think it will really depend on the program that you choose to do to! I don't believe there was anyone in my cohort that was an international student, but there was a separate program with many international students!

    Do you have the link to hotlines?

    • @techtotherapy
      @techtotherapy  11 днів тому

      If you do a quick google search "hotline volunteer" I think you'll be able to find some places. There's lots of different types to support different groups of people so it'll be up to you to decide what most interests you.
      In San Francisco, there's this one: www.sfsuicide.org/volunteering/
      And a national one that's similar (they have different hotlines per state) : 988lifeline.org/crisis-centers-by-state-and-u-s-territory/
