Its really sad, i finally manage to made a decent stormclaw druid that does fine in pit 90 but with the nerf to thunderstruck i don't know where im going to get more damage.
Maybe not dead depending on the changes they make to uniques. If the buff to the crone staff is big enough it could be viable. I am hoping this is true of many uniques especially companion skills. One thing I would love to see is an aspect or unique that when a basic/core/wrath skill is used it buffs the pet damage. Rabies would be a great skill for this. For example. Enemies poisoned by rabies take X% more damage from companions passive and active skills.
Dear lord please get this to the devs. I don’t think any Druid player would dislike if they just took this all and implemented it exactly as you laid out.
Justice for Stormclaw Man I struggled to make it work early in S4 topping out at pit 80 Switched to a BearSlide build and I'm glad it's getting buffed, but ever since S2 Staff of the Crone builds have been my favorite.
druid is dead bro. the stormclaws are the bash barbs now. maybe you van do contact with for example bash barb or any other basic skill class. for me there is no need to watch your content now stormclaw was the only reason to come. but liked you. hope you ll go for bash
StormClaw was my first build on the first character I ever played in S0 of D4 launch, using Screamhearts' build guild. Ive been a sub/fan of this channel ever since. This is my go to for anything druid related. Learning everything I can from the driud sensi himself. Blizzard class devs should connect with you as a "Blizzard partner". This is clearly coming from someone that is very invested and has a strong passion for not just druid but the overall health of the games balance long term. P.S. Im currently playing your werebear pulverize build and it slaps. Thanks so much for sheparding the pack. Good luck with the move, hope it goes as smooth as possible and yes we can tell that daddy druid has unpacked some lbs.
The GreatStaff of Crone getting a rework! Going to save it? Probably not... But it helps a little. Huge Close Damage buff (47% up to 270%), 100% crit damage, Stormstrike chains to 2, and +4 all basic skills (so 4 to claw and 4 to storm strike INSTEAD of 6 to claw), and last the unige ability 150% up to 200%. Side note Mad Wolf's Glee updates also look nice for this build. This whole "we want all players so be wearing 4ish uniques" might actually pan out. I might actuallty try storm claw for S5. Bet on the want be TERRIBLE at launch, and when barb is still the clear best class, druid may get further buffed into greatnes! Wishful thinking.. I know...
Yeah I hope the do some radical changes to improve Stormclaw. It already struggles hard this season. A buff to basic skill, fixing cronestaffs stormstrike bugs, and simplification of all the lightning/storm skill tags may just be all it will need. Keep up the good fight and good luck with the move!
I put my stormclaw to rest a week ago it just sucks compared to pulverize or landslide or tornado builds. I got to pit tier 97 with claw and took 1 day to get to 105 with pulverize with crap gear.
Shapeshifting is a class mechanic similar to barb weapon swapping, but barbs get to choice what they hit with for most skills. Instead of having uniques that change true form, add an additional choice in the spirit boons for it. Gaining different passive buffs depending on your form and no longer shifting out of the true form when casting nature magic and companion skills.
I've been wanting a companion focused build since D4 came out. The changes to the shepherd aspect should help but I hope they do more. More passive damage and faster attacks. Clear guide on what effects the companions and what does not. Cool downs need to be reduced so the active skills can be used more often. Or improved ways of reducing the cooldown. Hopefully the changes we see to unique gear will also help the companion builds. They can do a lot here to help change the landscape of builds so what will be good and what will not be good in season 5 are difficult to predict.
I was actually thinking about the same thing the other day. Earth builds have a hard time poisoning enemies. If they took away the lucky hit from Constricting Tendrils, that would fix the problem right away. Everything else you said in this video is totally on point, and stuff I've been thinking about myself.
I just started playing this game and picked Druid just for fun, but it's good to see I built into the right things. I've been playing around with an all human landslide build that's been doing some pretty good work.
Fantastic video. I felt a little underwhelmed with their changes considering the sorc is getting yet another game changing unique and we get number buffs really. Let's hope they have some treats in these 50 new aspects
My take on pulverize, it will give more opportunities for it to gain overpower, removing shepherds and stampede off my build opens up 2 aspect that i really want to use and replace for damage, 1 being retaliation and the other one for mob and boss dealing damage which is boiling aspect (gives blood boils for mob clear and another way to overpower for bosses). Coupled that with reworked bulwark makes werebear an extremely tanky character.
I made a pure landslide to make use of the new unique ring and yep its insanely powerful. Everythings mw12 and he's doing 3-5 mil ticks pouring out of the training dummies with limitless spirit. Clears pit100 as fast as my bash barb
I feel you. Stormclaw was my fav. I hope they bring it back, but it seems unlikely. Awesome content and very indepth analysis. I just hope we get to play something else than crappy Windshear for S5.
Im actually happy now cuz my main druid ive been playing since launch( on and off, not 1 year straight😉) is a landslide trumple druid, struggle now in pit 70s so im more than glad they finally give him buffs..hopefully iam able to clear higher pits to farm some more Materials for masterworking
I loved your Stormclaw build in Preseason. It was my favorite build, and I don't know why it can't basically be as good as Bash Barb (kinda the same thing as a basic attack build, except Druid usually need 2-3 uniques just to get up and running). The devs (or at least Adam) mentioned in the fireside chat that they didn't want tempers to be unlimited but that they would add an extra temper per greater affix on the item (which still kinda sucks tbh) What also makes it hard for Druids and tempering, as I said before, usually a build requires min 1 unique, which you lose out on the tempering bonuses. I would really love to see some of your suggestions get taken and Druids can be comparable to other roles. Can Druids be OP for once?
@@Fairburne69 I had a lot more ideas that I cut down to try and present something feasable, but yes. Even the ones I didn't mention could use some love. And even rare nodes, there are rare nodes that will NEVER be used by anyone with a couple brain cells to toss around. Lol
Comment for algorithm + nice vid daddy druid. Just a final mention or suggestion can trample+ boulder cc effect knockdown instead of knockback. Such a better cc effect QoL and thematic
What do you think of the idea of putting shapeshifting specializations in spirit boon? We already have a wolf spirit so why not put werewolf now your true form and werewolf skills are now storm tagged. Then replace one spirit (i think deer) to bear with the earth tag. To make this work we need to change the mechanics of boons in a way that makes sense so I'm thinking once you've bonded with the spirit only then is that your true form. So i would imagine a normal human form, werewolf, werebear and another form (gorilla? Lol). I'm really not good in theorycrafting tbh. Just a thought.
That's another great idea for how they could implement them. I think either would work, but I would hope that it's on its own new row so that we don't have to compete with the current boons.
I have always loved shred, yes they are going to buff it a bit but why no tempers for it?! They could do shred size too! Stormclaw was so cool... Finaly they remove those stupid companion aspects! Hated those so much lol! Made my own shred build without them atm
For Pulverize? It'd be Max Life, Willpower, Crit, Overpower, and always keep your resists and armor capped and enough spirit cost reduction to have a smooth gameplay loop.
I don't like that the druid has to spend a lot just to enable skill synergy, i felt like i was forced to enable Shapeshifting, Wear-wolf/bear passives to to be viable, but skills don't synergize by default, so you end up having to invest JUST TO MAKE THE CLASS WORK. It's like we have to bend over backwards to get around the stupid category rules for Druid. On top of that, like you said, it's super complicated to wrap your head around "x is now also y", or "you are now always x by default", now i suddenly can't use all these passives and skills. They SPLIT the Druid up into sub-classes, we can't just pick any skill/passive. WHY should we even need that paragon board that opens up options for us!?
Easy fix. Druids should be able to have 2 head slots, 4 rings, 2 neck pieces and be able to use totem along side 2handed weapons. Maybe then should be able to be competitive. Its ridiculus.
I have played every class my fav are Druid and sorc. But the truth is that they are the weakest of the bunch. We have a class with so many options but none that can fully compete. Druids need to be buffed and reworked. Rabies and lacerate have been useless since launch. Barb can hold 2 heavy weapons and 2 one handed. How can you just buff some small numbers and expect it to be fair. Thats Druid needs something so much more yet. I have played Druid and sorc every season. Every season it’s always the same story one Druid build that’s good and the rest are A and B tiers. Please ask for so Druid buffs and reworks please. The things I suggested still require a baseline commitment to activate. It's more about opening possibilities that allow more builds to be viable. When every person that runs a certain skill ends up on the same items it leads to everyone running the same thing in the end.
For a seasonal game I don't see the value in that personally. It's hard enough to find a good GA item, let alone the right tempers, and god forbid decent rolls on the temper. They can add a progressively more expensive temper for additional attempts and cap it like they do with rolling affixes or something.
@Screamheart then we end up with another system like enchanting, and we can all be out of temper mats, gold, and angelbreath together. Enchanting has always been one of the biggest complaints many have with the game and you want blizz to turn tempering into the same thing. Why simplify an already simple mechanic? We need depth, not more hand holding.
StormClaw was my favorite build of S2 and I'm sad it's been struggling since. I'm even sadder now that it's just completely dead now.

The things I suggested still require a baseline commitment to activate. It's more about opening possibilities that allow more builds to be viable. When every person that runs a certain skill ends up on the same items it leads to everyone running the same thing in the end.

bricking sucks but its necessary. What we need are more ways to influence the outcome of a temper, not unlimited re rolls.
