  • In this video we'll look at how to add additional hard drives to your Amber X as well as share files.
    Adding Disks
The process of adding multiple drives to your Amber device is almost as easy as adding a single device.
In this case, however, you'll need a powered USB hub to go along with your usb drives.
The caveat to this is if you're using powered USB drives, you may be able to omit a powered usb hub, but you'll still need a USB hub.
Once you've got your hub plugged into your Amber device, you can plug in your first device. I like to plug them in one at a time and have them labelled so I know which device is which when I come back to them later.
As long as the drive is formatted as NTFS, EXFAT, or FAT32, the drive will be recognized and immediately available as soon as you plug it in!
When the first drive is setup and ready to go, you can now plug in your additional drives one at a time.
For now, you can migrate, and index (auto-organize) one (1) connected hard drive at a time. However, all connected hard drives are remotely accessible via the Amber iX App (mobile or desktop).
    File Sharing
This is a secure link generated by our cloud service, AmberCloud, that transfers data from the sender to the to recipient (and vice versa). This distributed cloud service infrastructure gives users a decentralized peer-to-peer (P2P) connection. As a backup option, we also offer a relay service through a secure tunnel for the transfer of data. With P2P, the data is shared directly between the two devices and does not require data to route through a central server, unlike legacy solutions.
What makes Amber X more secure than legacy cloud and storage solutions?
First, there’s AmberCloud. AmberCloud is our own distributed cloud service infrastructure that supports a decentralized personal service. So if hackers try to attack AmberCloud, they won’t know who or what to go after. A concentrated cloud storage service is much more vulnerable with numerous accounts ripe for access.
If you’re wondering how your data stays secure when transferred, we’ve got that covered too. Unlike other storage solutions, we don’t use third-party public clouds to make it happen. The technology behind Amber X truly differentiates it from legacy storage solutions.
The secured link comes from Amber X and we don't keep a copy in our server - hence the “privacy first Personal Cloud”. As for the delivery method, we can automatically route via P2P or secure tunnel fully encrypted, from Amber X based on the user's network environment.
