Believing in Yourself

- The question is that she puts in her best effort, but her teacher does not appreciate her work. When we are young, very young even younger than you and perhaps your age when we are like between 6 and 16 or 20, we have lot of dreams. And the most beautiful thing about life at that time is that you actually believe in your dreams. Those dreams are very real for you. From one moment to next, from one day to the next, you actually believe that one day that those dreams will come true. In your dreamworld, there is always only joy and happiness. There is certainly no school, no studies, no mathematics, no physics or no chemistry. There is only fun, plenty of fun. You are doing things you love to do even though you don’t know what you love to do, you keep that grey that there will only be good things in my world.
So, life is a fairy tale in this age. As we grow older, things begin to shift a little. We start coming across people who (a) don’t share our dream with us, for them they think oh you don’t know what real life is. And we come across those people who tell us that your dreams don’t have any meaning. And, we come across some good people as well who say, “don’t worry, keep working and you will get there.”

Feeling unappreciated is a major cause of stress and frustration. Thank you, Swamiji, for giving an insight into it, to handle it better. 🙏
You’re talks are changing my life for the better. Thank you.
Yet another Divine Mantra coming straight from the Divinity Personified.
"Work and perform your best and do not look for appreciation." This is precisely the Karma analogy given to us mortals by Sri Krishna, put so simplistically by Most Revered Om Swami. Obeisances and Salutations to YOU again & again!!

Thank you Swamiji for inspiring us on every Saturday morning. First thing in the Saturday morning, I always listen to you before starting my day.
My entire childhood was filled with people attacking my dreams without my knowing it; I know I made a conscious decision to hide my passions from them, or not express them at all, but it became so pervasive as to be hidden from myself in time. Even in my adulthood, people led me to confusion when I tried to find myself again and follow my dreams, particularly therapists who insisted on doing things their way when I was ready to assert myself and had just needed someone who wanted me to find and show more of that person. Over and over, I found the opposite, and this ended up breaking my will in quite a few ways, but through kundalini awakening I realized something profound around how this all effected my ability to believe in myself, and how we can do just that regardless of other people's beliefs in us. It is hard; even my 'guru' - the person I associate with my initiation to this whole experience - exhibited behaviours that tended toward pushing me away from what I knew was right for me, so I left. Now I am coming into this rebel in me who has a good cause, and only wants to ground themselves now, not be grounded by other people's broken dreams projected onto me. It's funny, because all along you can live this honest path; hold your truth to the highest power and that can be enough reason for people to attack you and not believe you, but you can't change your truth for them, and you can't make them believe anything they don't want to. You might hide your truth, and at worst, aspects of it may even be hidden from yourself for a long time causing you to walk around as if you are literally blindfolded, but it's still there. I have had to find my inner eyes again to transcend this blindness they wanted to inflict upon me.
Coming into this realization I ended up dreaming that I walked into a store, sat in a meditation pose on the floor, and lied to the owner about a traumatic event of my life; the event actually happened, but the lie was that it happened in his store years ago. Well he was not concerned with checking the facts, accusing me of being a liar, or being insulted as if he had something to defend against... No, he just believed me and apologized. It gave me the opportunity to express gratitude for his belief, and to assure him that I did not want him to feel bad or guilty at all because there was nothing he could have done to stop it from happening; I only wanted him to be *aware* that it could happen, which he thanked me for 'enlightening' him with this information. This was really a healing dream for me as I felt recognized for being the teacher I feel that I am, and I realized what we tell people isn't the point, but that they, too, have a part in the story of believing what they do, and that can have powerful consequences if we let it. In my childhood, people wanted to make my truths into lies to give themselves more reasons to hurt me, when really - if I had lied and parroted what they wanted to hear - they would only have used that as 'confirming' ammo to hurt me more; it would not have stopped their attacks. These double binding situations can be so wholly frustrating - I can hardly think of anything more Kafkaesque - and now I find myself wondering how to make peace with this as I'm feeling more and more ready to burst out of this container and show people what I'm made of, even if they hate that I do, because I know I'm full of good even if they cannot appreciate that, and I think what I have to say needs to be heard.
You have painted us with spirituality
❤️ly

What a beautiful perspective on doing our work with the intention of giving our best and improving on it to make it better but not paying much attention to the appreciation. Another v.imp. point was not let anyone to break your dreams. Believe in yourself, be realistic about it, do it one step at a time, one day at a time, one day you will outperform yourself. Truly enlightening to look from this perspective. Thank you Swamiji for this discourse.
Thank you Swami ji...i can't thank you enough 🙏🙏
Thanks my dear Lord, very beautifully aware us, because we mostly, whatever we do always have expectations of someone appreciate us. Thanks a lot and Katie koti parnam Gurudevji

Awesome Swamiji. Wonderfully Explained. Koti Koti Pranam 🙏
Great artists like Van Gogh, Mozart were appreciated after their deaths. They toiled their whole lives working for appreciation. They lived without it. However, a day came when their works became recognized and to this day they are. Amazing things happen when you don't keep any expectations.
I encountered such draconian teachers twice in my student life, thing is after that I met many such people, but I have never forgot those two. A Child's mind is very naive and they remember those things their whole life. Society should be good and polite in handling kids.
Btw I too got second prize in a painting competition in my 9th standard. 😁
Thank you swamiji!!!
Thanks Guru ji to guide us
Thank you sir 🙏

There can be no subtler way to explain such a wonderful solution to core problem of everybody’s life. So we should know that nobody is under any moral or social obligation to appreciate us. We must carry on conducting ourselves in right manner. Life changing solution and thanks a ton Swami Ji. But I do appreciate the kind of work you are doing for making my life better🙏🏼
