Sorry this review is coming late! What did you guys think of Joker: Folie à Deux? I appreciate you watching the video and thank you so much for the support!
A thought: Phillips made his character (a victim of childhood trauma) get [redacted] in prison because he really *really* hated the audience the first movie attracted. Really makes you think. Don't it?
That happens regularly in prisons all the time. "Don't drop the soap," is a popular meme. What does it say about you that you feel like Phillips hates you because Arthur gets abused? It's a continuation of the themes of the first film. A critique of authority figures that abuse their power. Arthur's story is like a Greek or Shakespearean tragedy.
I intensely despise The Hangover, but Phillip's "Joker" was a surprising and original view on the Joker character. This second one sounds like a very cheap cash-grab while taking a bow to please Hollywood. Very good and entertaining review, Vex!❤
The first film was an fu to the comic book Joker. Comic accurate Joker wants to break Batman. He can't exist without Batman as a foil. So by making a solo Joker relatable and human, that is already a critique of comic Joker. But people were still expecting him to become comic Joker in Joker 2. But as we've said before, that's impossible, because then he wouldn't be relatable anymore. You can enjoy the Joker duology more if you view them as a Greek or Shakespearean tragedy.
I really never wanted a part 2. I'm still not quite sure I wanted the first one! But for the art of it all, sometimes one piece of heart should just stand on its own - leaving it more a classic. Great review!
Your enjoyment of the film depends on whether you see the Arthur's story as a tragedy or a power fantasy/wish fulfillment. If you see it as a power fantasy, why don't you go do it in real life?
1:32 It's not unclear for the audience, it's one of the first things you're told. Anyway, I made my own review on this and I concluded it's better than most people say, but that's because unlike most people, I don't focus on either it being a musical, nor to I expect plot progression. 3:24 I've heard your spicier takes before, but with that delivery, you almost sound like you agree with those things.
I went into Joker thinking I'd hate it, my wife wanted to see it, and came out loving it. So I was also cautiously optimistic about Joker 2, wondering if we'll be able to tell which scenes were real and which fantasy. Instead, I have you and others to thank for not seeing it and walking out disappointed like I thought I would've with the first movie.
Yeah, you can tell which scenes are real and fantasy in this one. Your enjoyment of the film depends on whether you see the Arthur's story as a tragedy or a power fantasy/wish fulfillment. If you see it as a power fantasy, why don't you go do it in real life?
Turns out the movie that didn't need a sequel, truly didn't need a sequel. Good job WB, youre in the competition with Disney for winning the award for the DUMBEST Studio of The Past Decade!
Some misplaced ideas related to your critique, particularly around the social commentary/reception aspect, but you're spot on about the actual technical issues, ie the writing. This was never "The Joker," but that's what the audience wanted to believe. That's what makes the subtitle great despite a poor movie; the audience was a part of the shared delusion
People can't understand how Joker 2 came to be, but it's very simple: Regular masculine men enjoyed the first Joker movie, so Hollywood had to make sure they would never be able to enjoy anything like that again by destroying what those same men love. It's with Hollywood's been doing best for the past 15 years now. Never forget how much these people hate you just for existing.
Bad review. Don't listen to this garbage! I just left the movie. What's wrong with you? This movie was perfect! I felt Arthur's pain through his songs and his desires through his imagination. BRILLIANTLY PUT TOGETHER! Don't you know a great movie when you've seen one? What movie did YOU see... this was wonderful !

To be honest, it's a courtesy watch. I'm already well aware that I'm being chud-owned for liking the first one the wrong way.
Buttsecks fixes mental illness, where do I sign up for treatments!
Doesn't matter if it's late, not like anyone other than reviewers are actually watching the film
Why, why is this 5:35 the shot that had me in stitches for 5 mins. Great video Vex!
I think you’re the first reviewer I’ve listened to that pronounced “Folie a Deux” without butchering the Feench, lol
I blame her Canadianness for getting it right 😂
fully a poo
its an AI voice - can you not hear that? lol
Fully à Deuce 💩
@@jesterssketchbook I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is not.

Really makes you think. Don't it?
'That' audience was a fraction of the audience too. The vast majority fully understood what the Arthur Fleck character was, What a waste.

It’s all part of the process of demoralization
He hates poor Arthur and audience... Thinks both are pathetic 🔥😱🔥😱🔥🔥📸

Lol... To please Hollywood? Anyone who saw the movie and thinks that is devoid of critical thinking skills
@@Fernando_616 As in giving a f.u. to the fans of the first movie

This movie really r@ped my expectations. Great video Vex,hope you and the hubby are well. :)
Another great one Vex! Nice work.
Fantastic vid, Veximus.
These reviews all make me said but well done Vex.

Great review!
It's amazing how a sequel can totaly destroy the first film.
Just like with the hangover sequels.

Yes, retroactive conditioning or "retcon" for short. They did to Star Wars and other beloved IP's.
@@SubtleStair They ruin everything they get their hands on. Then blame the fans when it fails.
6:21 Emancipated? Did you mean “emaciated”?

Lady gaga in anything is an instant no for me.
I loved both movies why don't people like this one because their hero got what he deserved he's a scumbag don't look up to him
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for saving me more money so I don’t have to go see this shit.
No one is their right mind is gonna see this modern day garbage
Yeah this movie was sht lol. Great review though!
He's emaciated, not emancipated.
The clips used in a video tell a lot about a person. I'm not surprised Vex had this clip 11:40

I don't care for G as a musician or a person I have no desire to watch this glorified music video.
That's all it was, it wasn't a musical and it wasn't a movie
Folie a bluhhhh 🤮 love ya Vex!
Agreed Gaga was a good casting.
Nothing else about this movie seems such.

Regular masculine men shouldn't be this invested in a movie....right?
Especially with a Joker portrayed by Phoenix, who at best is awkward viewing.
You're reading your politics into the story. It was always a tragedy. "I used to think my life was a tragedy, now I realize it's a comedy."
I’d like you to say Folie à Deux but slower

My reaction to this movie is O.O wtf was that
This is the only review of this film I need.
I’m noticing some criticisms are repeated from channels that didn’t watch the movie 😂😂😂
Out of curiosity, which criticisms?
There are instances in this video where I felt I could've explained things better if I'm honest.
Well well well.
DRANK! 🥴🍻🥴
Mint casting? Whyaye! So this is an AI voice!
I don't know how that difference of opinion makes me an "AI voice" 😅
I'm enjoying the fallout because Joaquin Phoenix should never have portrayed the Joker.
The first movie was an abomination.
Are you single
You'd have to ask her husband.
you realize thats a robot AI voice, right?
