Impact grenades WORKS against bug holes. You need to aim them at the center. You need do more testing on a lot of the weapons. The smg defender is a direct upgrade to the liberator. Range in this game is almost a nonfactor as most weapons can do well at reasonable distances. Plus it has 45 instead of 30 in the mag with higher per dmg bullet. The only advice AGAINST impact grenades is to shut down bot factory as that one is very very very much harder to blow up with impact (doable but the angle is so strict that it can be classified as not possible), everything else, impact is better than the 2 other nades apart from friendly fire.
I'm seeing a lot of optics used on these weapons. I just started the game today, so this may be a dumb question, but are weapons upgradable with things like optics?
Only level 10 but my favourite support weapon so far is the grenade launcher. Just love lobbing a single grenade into a freshly spawned pack of terminids and seeing 8 kills pop-up on screen. And it was sufficient (if a little inefficient) for killing a couple chargers too!
Save up your medals for the Breaker. You won't regret it.

The Breaker is BiS. This thing shreds through almost everything. And you can even use it kinda up to midrange aswell.

Impact grenades close bug holes fine. It’s the automaton fabricators that are a little wonky to use them on

There's an orbital gas strike and an incendiary grenade. However, the incendiary grenade is only in the premium warbond
