This is the most heartbreaking case I have ever watched on forensic files. The horror of what poor Denise went through before she was brutally murdered. What a psychopathic monster! This is the scariest type of killer: the mild-mannered, average looking, insidious killer. I don't believe either that Denise was his only victim. You don't keep that sort of sadistic, sick, disgusting tendencies bottled up for years and only kill once.
Exactly. Killers like that seldom stop at just one victim. And with all that desert out there (I'm originally from there) is lots of space to dispose of a body. Why no one noticed the rental truck there for so long, hmmm. That would be more than what meets the eye.
No. I don't find these stories calming or soothing at all. Definitely, not something I would choose to fall asleep to. I like to watch them. I don't want to fall asleep and miss half the show.
As a father of 2 daughters, I repeatedly tell them. Nothing good happens outside your home after 10pm, especially 'when alone'. Of course, I admit, I'm "old school".
You may be old school, but you are also right! At 36, I'm often told that I am old school because of the way that I think and believe! Keep telling them! It may save their lives one day!
The brutal honest truth is it isn't safe for a young woman to go out at night. Most are never harmed but there's always that exception, even in small towns.
I lived in that area and know that freeway . So sad that the first boyfriend didn’t go with her that night; And that the perp just went by at that time. Evil is everywhere. Always pray and watch. No cell phones then. I’m sorry for her and her parents. RIP to that innocent victim. ✝️
This seems like a nice area but a few cases have happened here. Beautiful young woman and glad it was solved and neighbor just had that "something is not right here" and followed the instinct.
That's crazy that the only reason why this monster was under the radar was because his neighbor reported him for parking his truck and the freezer running all the time
No way Denise is his only victim. Such a brazen crime to be his first, and to also have a dungeon. To keep the body in a freezer along with the clothes - it's a trophy. Could be a Gilgo Beach type of dude...
My heart goes out to her parents. How awful. The pain and heartache they must have felt knowing how her life came to an end. I was close to my parents and they loved me so much. I think this would have killed them.
The Hubers went through hell at the hands of John Famalaro. How sick to freeze Denise's body and keep it in a freezer for 3 years. Thank God for answers and justice for her parents.
It's unbelievable the killer would just hang on to Denise and all the evidence, and leave her in a stolen truck which could easily be spotted by the Rental company. Any normal person would wonder why a Rental truck is outside someone's residence for so long.
He kept her as a trophy and a reminder of the events. To go back to and relive that night. Killers especially with a sexual component will often keep such trophies from clothing, jewelry to even hair.
I think the way she was wrapped up and THEN hit, so probably dying from suffocation or even just bound. Horrid for the plastic bag to go into the wounds in her skull. What a sick POS.
Obviously he thought this would keep him from getting caught whereas of the body was buried somewhere he would have absolutely no control over who stumbled over it.

As a trophy and reminder of the act. Remember he had sexual deviance tendencies. Killer with such tendencies will often keep trophies so to relive the events over and over again. So she was his trophy his memory.
People who met him at a sales yard on a previous day arranged to meet him at the home to buy some paint from him. When they got on the property is when the Ryder truck situation became apparent. They were able to see things up close. Because this was a hoarder property, not many people came onto it like the paint buyers had. They were immediately suspicious of the truck and wrote down the license plate and reported it. The truck was hidden by their property fence and the Famalaros were hostile, so the paint buyers were likely the first people to see the truck situation well enough to become suspicious. This episode kind of glosses over all of that but other documentaries on this case go into better description on the whole situation.
