The Audi RS5 now comes in both coupe and 4-door sportback form, and fits nicely into the middle of the RS lineup. With the B9.5 mid-cycle refresh, Audi brought a couple limited edition versions, including this Black Optics Launch Edition. With the same 2.9L twin turbo V6 making 444 horsepower, the RS5 coupe will do the 0-60 sprint in 3.7 seconds. Also standard on the Launch Edition cars is Dynamic Ride Control (DRC), which absolutely helps handling, but sacrifices some ride comfort. With Quattro all wheel drive, an updated interior and exterior, laser headlights and strong performance, the newest RS5 is definitely a great daily driver option!

@@philippwalder4328 even when eddie first made his channel is was way better than vehicle virgins. Eddie seems like a natural, his voice, his descriptions all seem like you’re watching a professional car critic. It’s not a 15 minute vlog of someone flexing and then they throw in a few minutes driving some car talking about how their Lamborghini is better.

Really like these interiors. I’d love to buy this and throw on a nice valved exhaust.
I had a 2018 RS5, did everything well but lacked excitement, and it was really uncomfortable in dynamic mode, overall it was good, not great. Eddie pretty much nailed the review.
I believe it. That's really the Audi story IMO, at least every Audi I've ever driven. Audi builds GT cars but seems to be afraid to actually embrace that fact. Instead, they sell these compromised performance cars that don't excel at anything. The S5 is significantly worse. The RS5 looks good on paper but just falls flat when compared against the competition.
Chi town is my kind of town. I was supposed to buy a car from Fletcher Jones last week and ended up going to the Audi Exchange since it was closer to me. Picked up a CPO A5 sport back prestige. Damn thing is epic. Great review as always

The 3.0 in the S model is only single turbo. I have a Daytona Gray Black Optic Launch, still breaking in, and it's already a joy to drive. Not as much as my old C6Z, but a daily driver in addition to a truck, without a doubt
i hate that they made the infotainment only touch screen....i liked the MMI knob/wheel thing they had...it would be better to have both

Hands down. Audi’s gauge clusters are some of the best looking.
Am I the only one who is more impressed by actual gauges? I find myself more satisfied with well designed physical gauges than a digital one. What’s impressive about a computer generated gauge? I find the simple tach’s like in the original vipers or 2000’s ferraris. Way nicer

Great review. I really don't like the 'stuck on iPad' screen; it should have the same integrated dash as the RS6/7, guess that will come in the next model refresh

I think the original A5 (RS5) designed by Walter DeSilva was the best looking 5 series ever by Audi, but this new one is also cool.
It’s a little overkill for a daily! But that’s what makes it fun. Mine loads up in stop and go traffic. It wants to gooo!!

How would you compare this to the new S7 with the same engine plus the electric super charger? is there a noticeable difference in turbo lag between the two?
i wish they wouldn't have gone piano black for trim. the brushed black material i have in my 19 S4 is much better IMO.

Trade in will be fastest and easiest, but you'll typically get less money. Direct sale might take a bit longer but you can get a bit more. Up to you! Definitely ask for a trade in appraisal and make a decision

Keep the 2018. I have an 18 S5 sportback with an apr plus stage one tune I put on it at 5k miles and it's basically and rs now. Saves you thousands of dollars for about the same performance or better. Or get a newer S5 and do the tune and you save $20k. Make sure you get the apr plus tune so they match the remainder of the factory warranty. Also if you do the resonator deletes like I did it sounds better than the rs
They really need to do another RS4 that would be interesting
Is this a bad value proposition vs an S5 premium plus? It’s about $20k cheaper and the aftermarket tunes add nearly 100hp.

My issue with Audi vs the BMW and Mercedes is how far forward the engine is of the front axle (I’m nit picking). Other than that, I’d take Audi over the other 2.

Used e63. Highest tier of vehicle on your list and you can avoid some depreciation
I think the glc63 amg can be thrown in the mix here. It has the same engine as the c63. I’d have to decide between the glc63 amg, rs5 sport back, and the upcoming awd m3.
Wouldn’t buy a new car, or any car, at the moment. Everything is overvalued due to the micro chip shortage.

Something is just missing in these newer models these days. Maybe the size of the cars is just a tad too big nowdays? The dynamics of the drive itself needs to be more exciting, less power, more focus on handling and fun. Just my 2 cents.
I just test drove this car. Beautiful car but driving in dynamic mode felt like I was driving a lowered Honda civic. I was very disappointed and ended up passing on this car.
Is a leather steering wheel an option? an Alcantar steering wheel can be a deal-breaker for me, at least.

I don't think it's available on the RS model. Unfortunately
Over time it can get dirty and shiny and kinda gross. You can clean it and maintain but I feel that it's more effort and less durable than leather
@@Ray_Stark it kinda wears badly and ultimately looks matted and feels cheap. Quality depends on who makes it, but generally that’s what happens.
The steering wheels are standard, heated, leather. But, you can only get the Alcantara steering wheel on the Black Optic launch edition, and maybe the Ascari launch editions.
At a starting price of 75000 dollar and will cost you around 4k a year to insurance and I cant even imagen the service costs. How can this be considered a perfect daily driver? Pls these UA-camrs needs to get down to earth. Nice car and Great review as always though.

For this high of a price, i would get a C63S all day everyday, that V8 is no joke. This is a cool car, but not worth the cash, used one sure...but not a new one.
Agreed. Or just get an older RS5 for much cheaper, and tbh... looks better
@@poetnumbrr8 theres a used a5 2018 for 20k in my area if i had the cash i would buy it, i agree the older ones have slightly better exterior but i truly value interiors. (of course if i got one i'd try to swap in a v8)
@@isea_ Man for that price you can even buy the S5 in those years. I own a 08' S5 6speed B8. It was $17k 3 years ago i bought it. Ive seen a few newer ones like 2012-2015 go for 20k or less. The interior in mine has the alcantara seating with carbon fiber trim, and it was a big selling point for me so im with you on the valuing the interior.
I really love audi but I find them a bit sterile. There is no manual option for this car, either. If it had a v8 and a manual, I would have bought the sportbak already.

I use to drive a 2011 v8 rs5, you can't get a better winter/summer car.
Turbo lag and some more lag are these B9 S5 and RS5. Also dont like this super lazy 8 speed ZF gearbox
Damnn, Audi is notorious for having cars that have turbo lag. Really takes away the experience.

Not a fan of the B9 refresh. The ugly gloss black plastic and the larger screen really looks out of place. I also hate that there is no heated steering with a flat bottom and no ventilated seats with any color beyond black. This isn't a hardcore sports car, so it really should offer much better choices. This is a nice car, but when you cross 90K, there is some stiff competition and this car doesn't do anything better than the competition. This would be a pass from me.

Love the interior with the current gen Audi’s.. MAN the front is too soft. Deterring me from purchasing. 08-12 S/RS5 was a mean car. 13-17 DOABLE. Man this current gen is not aggressive at all.
So the RS cars aren’t track cars even if they’re audis top sport vehicles? That sucks cause any bmw ///m you can track. I will stick with BMW for that reason.

Me too, especially if Alfa Romeo made a 2 door coupe/convertible. Alfa really messing up not producing a coupe version of the QV. But Alfa definately looks better.
