Gonna agree with you on this analysis - my first 7-8 games on the ion pro have been similar experiences. Extremely forgiving! The slightly weaker TX-16 hybrid makes it a lot more controllable than the Phaze II (as someone who previously struggled a little with how early the TX-16 solid cover has been).

How does this ball compare to Xponent?
I just got the ion pro and love it. Once you get a feel for the ball it's very forgiving and hit strong late but smooth, for me being a low Rev and 12 moh delivery. Love the ball.

I never matched up with the Phase 2, and all my best balls are Asyms including an older hammer that was also a mild Asym (RG 2.53 Diff 0.44, Int diff Unknown), I think I might need to give this ball a try.

Been waiting to see you throw this ball, I like the shape downlane looks much more easier to control the pocket. I see this as being my game 1 and maybe game 2 ball on our league hotshot. can't wait till june 21 release date!!

All I throw is Storm, Roto Grip and 900 Global. I do like the look of the Ion but I'm just not sure if it's going to be the benchmark like the Phase II and Hy Road. I'll more than likely get it but I'm not in a rush.
Reminds me of the Xponent solid, you have to put them up against each other.

I already have too many balls, but I need another. I’m sure you understand. This one looks good for league. Looks consistent without hooking out and having to play like Belmo. Plus I’m sure the cover will adjust nicely.

How would the Ion Pro compare head-to-head with the Xponent? The Ion Pro seems to have a little more backend than I would typically expect of a benchmark ball, which isn't necessarily bad and could be good. Based on your 2023 top 10 ball review, I went ahead and picked up both the Xponent and the Sublime (great 1-2 comb). Thanks for all that you do for bowling!
Hush up, Luis! You're not a shill. The ball is all that! When you said, "Let's see if we can go eight for eight," and then you pulled it, I said, "There's no way that's going to do it." My bad, bro. BTW, I wish people would stop making 2 and 1 moves. That's never the right thing to do. Look at the math - your new launch angle is lined up for a break point 1-1 1/2 boards to the right of the old break point. 3 and 2 gets you to the previous break point with a larger launch angle. That's what you're after. You could also do a parallel 1 and 1 if you are a somewhat lower rev bowler or senior. Both are very close. This IS the next generation of benchmark ball, because it offers miss room downlane on THS, with good continuation and carry from multiple angles, and it will be about the most versatile ball you own. It's cover is also a good one for sport conditions.
For Storm, this maybe the that next generation of benchmark. But for me, the numbers are too similar to the Motiv gear APG asym. This has Blue Coral vibes for me. It’s not filling a gap in my bag, so it’s a pass for me.

really hope this ball sells really good to become the next great ball for storm, i mean belmo was still rockin the IQ Tour still, kyle Troup was throwing the Ion Pro and he was doing pretty good with it and of course simo still killin it with the GEM and the Attention Star, so but with troup and belmo throwing current of the Goat balls and maybe one of the future goat balls in the Ion pro, that is a good advertisement for Storm to show off how good the Ion Pro is.
We shall see!

It is a benchmark but not the next generation. It's just a copy of the hammer envy tour. Now, I think SPI needs this in their lineup so yes def a great benchmark.
Core numbers are similar yes but cover is night and day from the envy tour
@@LuisNapoles The Hype did a video and said the Envy Tour is earlier than the Ion. Now that's most likely due to the solid vs hybrid core. I wasn't hating on the Ion or SPI. I personally am glad they added this to their lineup. I feel it was a ball missing for some time now for those style of players who need something between a Phaze II and a IQ tour.
I can't decide if I like the Ion Pro being stronger than the !Q Tour Ruby or not. I don't generally need strong equipment. I'm waiting to see opinions on this versus the Attention Star after some touring pros have used both.

Luis how are you? I wanted to see this review from you especially great video as always. To me it looked great and its own way on storms intro/promotion video about this ion pro it truly did look in between two out of my three balls I have that you highly recommended to have for anybody that is the IQ tour, solid and phase II. Here it just looks different and unique. I’m guessing that’s gonna be in your arsenal somewhat someway. What order will this ball begin for you and league and also in tournaments? Sidenote but very important you’re that good of a bowler you are not an amateur. You are a true professional. You need to be out on tour you earned it deserve it.😀🎳✅

agreed the fresh pattern was very good but what does this mean to the average bowler who doesnt control their pattern or get to chose their lane? We click on these vids looking for pros to confirm our bias after we see a cool looking ball.
They understand layouts more than any average person ever will, and they get to try every single ball that comes out so of course a few will look good
even a single cut takes away all credibility also. Bad shots dont make it into the vid.
A single ball drilled costs 2-3 months worth of groceries now too

For a typical house shot bowler (like me), I would say the Ion is usable anywhere from fresh to transition. Even on the burn, its fares surprisingly well moving in+slowing down but I would just switch to a traditional mid-late pearl ball at this point. For me, I'm just using the Ion Pro + Nightroad for a solid 1-2 combo and that's all I need right now on house :)
Oh, and the shots don't lie. Somehow the ion pro carries my bad shots too (has 'old man carry')

Great ball and video
I'm considering this ball, but I'm not sure where it would fit in my bag. I have the IQ Tour Solid, 900 Global Xponent, the Clone, Storm Hy-Road Pearl, and an older original Zen. Can I add this ball to my bag, or should I replace one that I own? I'm a slower speed, lower revs bowler.
Could we call this a modified Phaze 3??
I wouldn't say do. P3 has r3s which is weaker than tx16 and p3 has the symmetrical velocity core from p2 and ion has the new core. I'd say those balls are quite far apart from each other and expect I p3 to be longer and more continuous
Is it cleaner than a phaze2. Does it carry less boards than a phaze2
