One thing I love about Mikes videos, having just watched through them all, is the different approaches he takes to cases. Sometimes he's up front with what happened, so when the police/public are trying to figure things out we know the sad truth. Sometimes he reveals only what the public would have known and we piece it together how it was discovered. You never know what kind of mystery the case is going to be, and this constantly changing approach keeps things so fresh.
13:40 Officer: Would you like a blanky in case you get cold? AJ: Yes please. Officer: What kind of blanky can I get you to make you feel warm and safe? AJ: Pink blanky please.
Exactly what I was thinking - poor boy - snuggled up in his pink and blue blanket - Monster. Poor MacKenzie R.I.P. She looks like a sweet girl just trying to widen her world.
I knew AJ in college. We called him Joy back then. It was quite a shock when my mom texted me telling me one of my Facebook friends had killed someone. He struck me as a little weird but I never would have pegged him for a killer. Of course, people rarely do right?
We hung out a few times over a couple months. I talked to him on the phone again a couple years before everything went down and that’s the last I heard from him.
This one absolutely shook me to my core. I was living in the area when this happened. Mackenzie was only one semester away from graduating with her bachelors degree. She had tried to get the campus police to walk her to classes because he was stalking her, and they refused. I’m not sure what changed that she would have willingly gone with him, but it is haunting.
Sounds like it would have been quicker to walk to your nearest Walmart for that Xbox controller buddy instead of bitching about the wait for something to be delivered to your doorstep. I bet it was wrapped and everything. Those monsters

It's not his first time facing the law, also once you get a lawyer you will end up memorising their number bcos you can never get through them if you don't pay their retainer!!
He had his lawyer on speed dial the minute LE finally announced that they had a missing person's case. Not that they seemed particularly motivated in the beginning at least , I'm actually surprised LE was competent enough to solve this case. Probably only did so bc a PI gave them the tip they needed.

Then there was the rape dungeon he wanted building. Pay attention.
Maybe if you'd watch the video instead of writing idiot comments, you'd have seen that he was once a good-looking guy...Although still a freaking CREEP!
It's not surprising for many teens or young adults to run away or get into shit they shouldn't. There's been kids from my school who were known for running away for long periods of time. Thanks for covering this one, I remember it happening and never saw the outcome of the trial. Glad this guy is off the street. Forever. One of the creepier parts of this to me was that he got rid of a mattress on Craig's List, by giving it away free. The police appealed publicly to whomever picked up the mattress and they returned it to them. Just another reason why getting something "free" isn't always what it's cracked up to be. I think this guy was a disaster in the making.

I still have snot bubbles from laughing....
Maybe he models grey jogging pants?
Maybe if you'd watch the video instead of writing idiot comments, you'd have seen that he was once a good-looking guy...Although still a freaking CREEP!
@@tuicastro4431 I'm sure they did and he certainly wasn't model material back then either.
No reason to believe she was in trouble after being missing for 7 days..........good work police.....as per usual!
@Nolan Booblackie Well that's bullshit but aight
It's not surprising for many teens or young adults to run away or get into shit they shouldn't. There's been kids from my school who were known for running away for long periods of time. The police likely wouldn't have found her alive anyway. Killers especially ones who have zero experience usually don't keep their victims alive very long bc they're impatient

They're just cynically looking at statistics. Most disappearances solve themselves eventually after all. That cynicism does have deadly consequences though whenever those rare deadly disappearances happen.

Fact... Yes'

I thought she found this guy on a sugar daddy website. He sure doesn’t fit the bill! When I think of a sugar daddy, I think of a guy with a mansion and a yacht!
Aw, c'mon. His was a mansion....Sorta...Well, it had a roof and some walls. And, um...no yacht, but he did have a Kia.
And silver hair.
To a broke 18 year old any working man with a house can be a sugar daddy. These girls aren't worth tens of thousands of dollars, the market is flooded with them
That’s what I think if when I hear “sugar daddy” too. Also they’re usually busy working men, so wouldn’t normally meet someone at 3am.
Ikr... That "house" had the size of a garden shed!
The second he was laying on the ground I knew he was guilty af
I always take a cat nap during warrant searches. No?
Right 😂
yep. same as the guilty people who take naps in the interrogation room, or sit on the floor.
Yup that obvious sign of exhaustion

Mike, you are a blessing. I discovered this channel a short time ago, and I have been binging on it ever since. You are one of the hardest working UA-camrs out there, you deserved that break!
My heart is broken for her family and friends that had to learn about her death and then had to find out who was responsible and watch as the jury gave him his sentence. To me 20 years isn’t enough though
And for finding out she was a hoe
This is my home town. AJ actually sold a lot of the furniture including a mattress from the AirBNB leading up to him being a suspect. He sold them on various websites and the police had to track it all down for more evidence.
I was wondering about where the hell the furniture, particularly the bed, was.
Thanks for this info I was wondering wtf was up lol
omg can't imagine having bought something from a monster like this!
My pitbull doesn't want to enter our current rental house which makes me wonder what's happened here!

Best part of Tuesday’s. Thanks Mike 😬
"let's give it a go you and I" , boy I love these road trips!!
Taking a life just to know what it feels like. It is so terrible it makes me feel hopeless 😔
I didn't even watch it yet, but I've never seen one I didnt love. I won't lie, I miss you and your video when you're not here. But I suppose you need a break lol I hope you had a fabulous holiday, and can't wait to resume to 2 videos per week. Tuesdays and Fridays are by far my fave days!!.... And that wink at the end!! 😁.... ❤️
Haha thanks Cary! Back to two videos a week from now :)
@@ThatChapter that makes my day! I only wish I had of just found your channel. It was great when I had 100 of your videos to watch. Oh well, two a week is definitely better than 1.
"Oh boy we're in Utah"
As someone who's been here for 23 years I wholeheartedly agree.
😂
mood. 😐
Major feels!!
Am I the only one to binge watch "That chapter"?
Due to health problems stuck at home. But luckily find this.
Another one I like is Bailey Sarian." Murder, Mystery, Make-up Monday"
Maybe more for girls due to make-up, but her stories are great too and we'll documented.
I can't stop myself from watching another then another
Of course not, it's practically a 'right of passage' for new 'That Chapter' fans to ravenously consume all of Mike's (extensive) content within a week or so of finding his channel. 😅 😂 I'm still binging. And Baily Sarian is great, there's a lot of viewer overlap between That Chapter & her Monday Murder Mysteries. 😊
Choosing to go missing would indeed be a "dickish" thing to do to your friends and family! Lol 😉 Love ya, Mike. So glad you're okay and back. Hope you enjoyed your break. We appreciate you and your work. Your channel and personality are the very, VERY best that's out there anywhere!
Women having terrible taste in men, what else is new.
Also my hometown and a friend of my mother and father in law was the one to find her body up Logan Canyon. Way too close to my personal life for comfort. I hope MacKenzie's family finds peace.
Ouch. I can’t imagine what the body would of looked like after being burnt and decomposed. Hope your in-laws are ok.
"Hey you" we've missed u , big fan from Marrakech, Morocco.
I always like to watch these videos over and over and over and over.
Mike said “hey you” and now I’m feelin’ all welcome and shit!
Remember Stephen McDaniels? He was the bushy haired guy who almost fainted when the news reporter asked him how he felt about police finding his missing and murdered neighbors body in the trash bin. Like AJ, Stephen went instantly weak too. But something tells me this isnt AJ's first kill.
generation X yes! That was a crazy case. The reporter was smart to keep him talking.

I remember that one! Talk about a dead giveaway.
@@stephiiiless I heard this comment 😂😂😂😂😂
@Sister Supersonic 😂👌
I can’t even imagine what she went through. RIP babygirl and God Bless her family ♥️
"I will not be saying the killer's name again"
guilty as charged then.
Too bad he didn't say it the first time 😅
"because I don't know how to pronounce it properly"
(Making light of a dark situation as Mike does.)
That made me laugh lol, he just didn't want to pronounce again :D
@Mary ha ha ha I would never have guessed! 😂😂
agree...that was grandstanding dumb as he is not the trial judge.
