I used scotch 33+ electrician tape (two layers) on the back of my pcb, and it's rubbery texture helps aton with sound. Also, obviously, electrician tape is much much safer to use on static sensitive electronics. And since scotch 33+ is actual good tape, the glue is not gonna turn into goo after 2 or so years of being untouched. Can really recommend it!

Great improvements to the board on your end. I’ve been slowly getting more and more interested in building boards after watching your videos. Nice Thocc
Since it's a touch screen, I think this could be amazing for flight/space sims like Elite Dangerous. There are so many buttons that you don't use on a regular basis that are a pain to get to through menus. You could have a custom button layout on the screen that could even change with flight modes. It depends if you could run the game on your main monitor and something else on this secondary monitor and if that program could talk to the game (something like this probably already exists). Also, I wouldn't worry about getting hurt by caps on a board like that. Anything out in the open on that board is probably going to be like 5V or 12V and the caps will be small. This isn't a CRT with hundreds of volts on it even when it's off.
I could see this being a really useful touch interface for DAWs and Creative applications. I'm imagining channel sliders in protools or tool switchers in Photoshop & Lightroom.

Hipyo you did me a supreme injustice by not cutting in the scene from spunchbob (hehe) where squidward is yelling “FUUUUTUUURE” over and over again. Plus you made me want this damn thing lol
I think it's a case by case basis. I edit the ocassional video, do a lot of 3d work and 2d illustration and especially for 2D work and video editing I much prefer having the timeline, and a few controls separated so if I had this kb I'd just dock them to that screen (but honestly just getting a custom board for that works better. As for discord, not sure I'm not really in communities where gifs are posted that often. I already have the kamvas as a secondary for quick edits on illustrations and I just put my discord there as well so wouldn't hurt to have it on this kb's screen. The major problem is that for me I tilt my kb in all sorts of angles lol. I also game quite frequently and I can actually see this square of a beast taking up way too much uneeded space when I can just buy a seperate mini screen for that purpose. So unfortunately I really just see it as a gimmick.
Favorite pasta shape is spirals. As for what I’d use they mini screen for, I’d mostly use it for toolbars in drawing or video editing apps, and probably also for Discord while I’m gaming on my main screen.
I would use that screen for fallout 4 companion app while playing fallout 4 on pc. Or for walkthroughs for games so I don't have to switch windows while playing. Doing a typing game on there would be nice too.
I don’t think it’s meant to be used just with that little screen, but used in addition to the main screen. Like for example, an artist can have the canvas on the large screen, and the keyboard screen will be used for like, swapping brushes and having the color wheel. Or for a game developer, the viewport will be on the bigger screen while the files and object properties on the keyboard.
They make these exact screens for a small monitor option for servers. You can buy them on Amazon for really cheap. I’d go that route before mounting it to my keyboard.
My favorite type of pasta is definitely Bucatini, they are like spaghetti but hollow, which gives them a really soft feeling to the chew, and they're still as long and glorious as spaghetti.
Some user case scenarious i was thinking about how to use the screen: to put my calendar meetings from outlook on a very busy day, to put a frequently used excel which i open many many times a day to provide some info from it, to put my spotify playlist, for twich during the work ( i use to follow the game with my mind, i ussualy follow strategy games) etc
I want it so bad, but I could never justify that price for the build quality. Also I like tactile switches. quiet or clicky doesnt really matter to me, but damn they need to be tactile. Otherwise, the keyboard just feels so wrong. Got a liner keyboard and had to return it next day because I just couldn't get used to that sudden bottom out. But I also absolutely adore the old IBM Buckling Spring keyboards from my childhood.... So... I have a "type"
Definitely not something I could buy but as a writer I think it would be a good place to keep whatever document I’m currently working on so it’s a low distraction screen while the big monitor can have planning documents on it
I do custom displays. That display is about $125 with the digitizer and control board. And that's without the bulk discount. This is a $60 board with a $75 display strapped to it, and I might have to make one.
I can't touch type very well, so this would actually be pretty helpful for me. I don't think I'd spend $400 on it, even if I had the desk space, but it'd definitely use it if it was cheaper.
As a developer I'd have more than enough things I could put down there to make it useful. I was going to pick this up a while back but I was concerned about neck pain from having to look up and down all day lol.
good video. Thanks for the information. It should have a standalone mode with only a simple text editor. Would be a digital typewriter. But I guess you can place your macro shortcuts for streaming or video editing. It can be useful.
For whatever work you need a touchscreen for but still want to hook your system up to a huge monitor, this will work wonders. Also, digital artists, musicians, video editors should fine some good uses for the screen.
It's kinda neat and all I guess. But you could just get a portable monitor and put it infront of your keyboard. With some care you could find one that's similar size to your chassis so it matches and viola. Plus it'd be a normal aspect ration and in general much more useful.
So I would never get it the way it is now. If they added a hinge mechanism for the screen so you could change it I might consider it. But as it is now that would get so unconfortable. As for use cases i imagine the same thing the second screen on the asus duo is used for. Timelines, document, chat, color grading etc.
Hipyo, have you considered pressing F11 to hide the top bar and making the bottom bar disappear? It's taking up at least 10% of the limited horizontal space.
I actually really like the stock sound, but I use a ReDragon with MX Blues at work, and my custom is a GMMK Modular with Box Jades. I'm a bit biased. Personally, Gniocchi is fantastic, closest you can get to pre-packaged dumpings. Unpopular, but I also like bowtie for wierd stuff like bacon-ranch pasta salad type stuff.
Maybe you can put your stock tickers on the bottom screen? Or chat during a stream. Or OBS stuff. Or Unit test results. Or the build panel of your IDE.
i would use this as a home for dynamic macroing, sorta like a stream deck. it would be great to put some virtual knobs and sliders on there for music production, art, or video editing. i wish the screen had an adjustable angle tho
I think some use cases could be music programs, chat for twitch or discord, alerts for streaming and such, stats like task manager/ valorant tracker type beat, and also like music programs where there are many menus that you can have open. Also alternatively using the extra screen to lurk in friend's streams on twitch/youtube (having 2 or more streams up in the aspect ratio)
I may put in there my clip studio color palette so I can choose the color I want by touching on it on the keyboard! Though I probably wouldn't buy it lol
msi afterburner and other hardware monitoring software would be great to keep on the screen. I could see it be usingful in many video games too, having quick info available like the map or whatever.
I use a Bluetooth split mechanical keyboard with my phone to write when traveling. Like on a train or something. Reminds me a bit of this setup, but then again, I'm already doing that and it was waaaay cheaper than $ 400.

Personally would use this for keeping time and date plus scheduling using a third party widget app like rainmeter. also aesthetics, very cool.
I subbed as soon as that kwumsy joke appeared. Total gold
2:02 Okay, for the record all square keyboards are still rectanglar
This has been a message from square gang
I appreciate that you show the mistakes you made, it makes it less intimidating for others dipping their toes into this hobby.
i think it would be cool for fl studio so you could put the mixer on your keyboard
I can't touch type very well, so this would actually be pretty helpful for me. I don't think I'd spend $400 on it, even if I had the desk space, but it'd definitely use it if it was cheaper.
I could see this as a more freeform macropad for video editing, photoshop, 3D modeling, engineering, video game inventory, etc
I love how you ask us to stay for the sound test like that isn't what I'm here for XD
I'd keep my animation timeline and tools for Maya on that screen or the Unreal Content browser. Could be good for a kanban board too
As a developer I'd have more than enough things I could put down there to make it useful.
Try building on of these from scratch, custom case, cheap 7 inch touch screen, etc.
Im not even interested in keyboards, but i keep binge watching you. Found by chance stayed by choice.
For whatever work you need a touchscreen for but still want to hook your system up to a huge monitor, this will work wonders. Also, digital artists, musicians, video editors should fine some good uses for the screen.
productivity plugins would fill that screen, and since it seems to be touchscreen it could even be used to map some macros on to it
Confirmed you also watch Urban Rescue Ranch! Awesome content!
Hipyo: Today I'm making a keyboard with a screen
Laptops:👁👄👁
It's kinda neat and all I guess. But you could just get a portable monitor and put it infront of your keyboard. With some care you could find one that's similar size to your chassis so it matches and viola. Plus it'd be a normal aspect ration and in general much more useful.
ITS GOLD FOR STREAMERS AND BROADCASTERS WDYM
Me personally I prefer the iquinix OG80 cyber deck a computer in a keyboard
You can play League of Legends on it. League rewards narrower screens because you can see more of Summoner's Rift on it.
This could be a great screen for a businessman who needs to have his calendar always on screen.
Yup having the mixer on the screen from your DAW would be perfect if anyone makes music.
The mod sounded great!
Though I probably wouldn't buy it lol
i could see using this to manage obs without having an additional monitor, really cool :)
Great video! I have a video idea: make each part of the keyboard random like all the switches and key caps!
Looks cool, but I'd rather have a keyboard with a good touch pad where the numpad normally goes
The thocc on the end gave me an eargasm
Dang that ended up sounding amazing
msi afterburner and other hardware monitoring software would be great to keep on the screen.
I'd put metrics on that screen: CPU/GPU usage, temps, memory - all that good jazz
If it would be possible to put the stream deck application on the screen, like the one you can get as an app on your phone, I think I'd do that
oooo! what a cool touchscreen laptop¬
This is good for Spotify or a script you read when doing the voiceover
I’d get one. But I’ll wait until more manufacturers are on board.
Favorite pasta: Manicotti.
I'd use it for my mixer screen while I make music. a good second use is for a music player.
Could be used for streamer to look at there twitch chat or stream audio settings
Man I remember when you have 10k subs you have gotten so far
I use a zenboom duo and having the half screen is great for emails and calendar.
I would set this up to switch layouts, launch apps, macros, etc. But that is a nice thock.
In pro tools you can put stuff like the transport and the cpu usage monitor down there, and while gaming you can put system info down there I guess
