Like him a huge metal fan now, love fairly obtuse bands like lorna shore.
Tool is my favourite band and even that just sounded like noise when i started, all metal kinda did but over the years metal just gets better and better everytime i listen, i understand the rhythms, breakdonws etc being a guitarist myself i love hearing heavier and heavier riffs and more creative guitar sections with lower tuned guitars.

I thinks she's kind of undeveloped or maybe previously undiscovered musical talent. She seems to instantly understand the structure of the song, notices transitions, appreciates complexities right away which took me fucking years to appreciate. Metal is fucked up, and to actually hear the music through all the crazy and wild arrangements, you need to have an EAR. Lex has got it, probably even more than you need for simply being a fan, or listener, and that's why I believe she could probably pick up some instrument and be pretty good at it. Raining Blood is one of the most experimental/nonsensical Slayer tracks and id didn't scare Lex away, so there you have it

Top 5 worst Thrash Metal albums ever. You take away the already average Angel Of Death and Raining Blood the album is only 20 minutes of pure shit. Speed doesnt mean a thing when the album has zero good songs. Slayer is my 3rd favorite Thrash Metal band but this is their worst album. Most Thrash Metal bands their top rated albums are overrated and not good but this is just a joke. Anyone who isnt a poser with a brain knows South Of Heaven is #1 then Hell Awaits, Show No Mercy, Seasons In The Abyss.

"Abolish the rules made of stone" are the 10 commandments.

Brand new to this channel, but I am loving how every song I've seen so far, mostly heavier stuff and thrash, Lex is totally into it, loving it, and gets it. And Brad is confused and trying to hang on for dear life. Amazingness!

Brad's no buzzkill, just a different, authentic reaction. Lex is def 100% a metalhead, though. Love her descriptions of how everything feels and sounds. So spot on and accurate, yet super unique.

Yo comment’s a buzzkill. Brad is 100% a trooper for listening to this, interpreting it, and attempting to understand it. Not his fault if he never gets it. It’s just not his vibe yet, and may never be.

It sounds familiar because that sample is the foundation of Li’l Jon’s Stop F***in’ with Me, also produced by Rick Rubin, IIRC.
Raining Blood is a song of retribution, Medieval style.
Reign in Blood is a short album, about 34 minutes. Raining Blood is the album’s climax, best appreciated in the context of the entire recording.

I get the feeling that Lex listens to metal with a Jazz ear as Jazz musicians have to "find their way out" and what she said about being brought to the transition instead of having to find it reminded me of that.

its about ruling the people threw fear. The line, 'Pierced from below, souls of my treacherous past. Betrayed by many, now ornaments dripping above' Is the evil ruler placing heads on a pike to use fear to control the people alive and to create (decorate would have been a better world) a structure out of the body parts . This is why it is raining blood, because the ruler reigns in blood.

Yeah, sometimes focusing on the meaning of a song can distract a person so much that the song becomes a jumble of sound. The Beatles would even write songs with gibberish lyrics in order to first focus on the sound of their songs.

In case you haven’t figured this out yet, this song is about fallen angels returning to heaven to regain power, (“trapped in purgatory”, “awaiting reprisal”) possibly at end of days. “Abolish the rules made of stone” is a reference to destroying and casting down God’s 10 commandments to establish a new order. They slaughter the ruling angels and their blood rains from above.

Fun fact! Kerry King, one of the guitarists for Slayer, was brought in to provide the guitar solo you hear from No Sleep Til Brooklyn by the Beastie Boys. The producer of this Slayer album also produced the debut album for the Beastie Boys at the same time, back in 1986.
