Got a few comments about this so I want to make this clear as to not discourage people, my wording in my script clearly was poor so I apologise in advance... I mention I did this in "3 full fledged attempts" but I have done solo attempts in the past, 1 Machinist in early Endwalker and 1 Paladin in late Shadowbringers, both only making it to the 161+ set... and I did a Light party clear back when it first released, so I have some decent knowledge prior to giving it a real try. Every set of floors I studied the google document (in disc) to get a general idea of the floor mobs, patrols and how the bosses work and I did all this live on Twitch, so I had a ton of help from my chat and people from the Deep Dungeon community checking me out. I also did these 3 attempts on WAR, possible the strongest job in Palace of the Dead. Again, apologies for not making this clear in the video... I'm not trying to take away my own accomplishment here, but I do want to be transparent about this, so please do not feel discouraged because I cleared it in "3 attempts" ❤
As a sidenote: DO NOT atempt Necromancer IF your internet connection is shit as every dc=death and there is nothing that kills your motivation faster than losing to something you can`t control. (I`m currently at 933 floors lost to dc`s in the span of 14 months)
Me .... trying to get necromancer... 4 years later never reaching 154+ I finally got the internet I waited for. 2 months later I was necromancer.... while frustrating.... it was amazing 4 years ^.^ never something I regret.... I do notice if losing connection now I get frustrated/discouraged.... I guess that's how people feel... I never had that during the 4 years as it was expected... in fact, every one floor more was achievement... I suppose it makes a difference^.^
This is my biggest fear, i mean i dont have bad internet but i hate when things are out of my hand, i was at 1 of the later bosses of Ninja Gaiden 3 that took like forever and had my xbox crash 3 times in a row when the boss was at 10% or so. Never touched a xbox or ninja gaiden again.

It was Eureka that did it for me, actually one of the reasons I stopped playing during stormblood, funny thing i recently went into Eureka to get some tt cards and love it so much im subbing again lol

Welcome to the club! For me it took a stupid amount of tries but that was because I was going by Finh's scoring guide till f140 and thus I did a lot of risky shit that I maybe always shouldn't have. The silver lining was though that I made like 40 million gil by getting some coveted night pegasus whistles from f151 upwards. I just checked and while my ranking has dropped a bit from April or so, my high score is still there in EU lodestone, data center Light. I didn't really bother with scoring in Heaven-on-High and won't bother in Eureka Orthos either, they're both much more prone to rng and unfair bullshit compared to PotD. Next goal is getting the Aeturna mount, just got Juedi from HoH 2 days ago.
big congrats!! the solo challenges of this game are honestly one of my favorite stuff to tackle here and there. I got Glitterier than Goldor with BLU when it came out and then Lonely Explorer, working towards the other ones!
I've been attempting a warrior run myself with fihns guide, congrats on the title! I still havent gotten past 180 yet due to a dumb mistake on 179, but it's been a fun experience so far, and I plan to go back in soon
you just motivated me to consider doing it i just finished 1-100 with friends, everyone was a first timer. I know about the title, but have always thought that it is out of my league. Maybe i'll give it a go after all
You should! Just go in with a progression mentality on your first few runs, being obsessed with the clear can really take a toll on the mental, I know from prior experience >< I wish you the best of luck!
Azurite got their clear in 3 tries, they said. dont compare yourself to that, thats an absurd amount of skill and luck thats difficult to match. if it takes you 13 tries, or 300 tries, thats okay. everyone is different and deep dungeons can be cruel and unfair. go at it on your favorite job, and take every loss in stride. you CAN do it, everyone believes in you, you just have to try one more time.
This definitely encouraged me to give this a real try. I've always assumed POTD solo would just be boring and tedious... but it's clear that there's much left for me to learn.
Big grats. My gf has been chipping away at the challenge for, now that I think about it, probably about a year at this point. Between going through the game alongside my first time, along with being something of a busy bee, progress has been slow. In light of your achievement though, I'll remind her to keep at it and to not let it fall to the wayside.

I have spent so many hours in the potd. I am still blown away by what a great job they did making clearing possible but nearly impossible to just luck ur way through. Best content in the game imo.
I was planning to do Palace of the Dead of the Dead Run Solo but trying it with the hardest modifications I can set that will still make this viable XD Wish em luck and that they don’t change as much of the mechanics before then

There was about a week staight where I was like, I want to be a sprout with a necromancer title. I eventually came to my senses and just got on with the msq. I have seen a sprout necromancer though. I was too shy to tell them that they're my hero lol.
When I play FFXIV, I want to solo the deep dungeons. They looks really intimidating. But a lot of people enjoy this challenge. It’s cool that it’s something I can do on my own rather than needing to coordinate with other players.
I'm always impressed when I see these videos with people clearing 1-200 solo. I've had close to 100 attempts at the title, myself. I don't think I'm capable of clearing solo, but it is certainly a lot of fun.

My main is grinding Diadem for the Pteranodon, but that gets super tedious, so I take breaks. and other than self imposed grinds, kinda bored atm. thought about going back in eureka to get all the relics, but, meh. I did kinda start this journey a while back, but let it go. this has reignited my interest. I actually did get my Lone Hero title a few days after getting the Necromancer title! It felt a lot easier, but it was really shakey near the end, almost scuffed it xD

The content has gotten more popular, and with that there's more eyes and more opinions about job difficulty. Tanks in general allow you to make more mistakes and manfight the higher floor mobs while staying alive. And the refinement of each tanks Behemoth strategy means that you aren't getting walled by the DPS check there. WAR has the most self sustain of the tanks, a fairly short DPS cooldown in Berserk, an extremely foolproof rotation, and a straightforward Behemoth strategy. So it's a very good option if you want to spend less time learning and more time attempting. That isn't to say that MCH and RDM are bad options, every job has had many clears. In fact, the job you are most comfortable with is the job you will do best with.
Congratulations! Hopefully I can get that one done one day too. Failed twice on 180 as my highest so far. I just ain't able to put out enough damage on that enrage cast as Gunbreaker, the job I want to clear it with. It can definitely get addictive ^^; Just another set of 10 floors.... Only 10 more floors and I'm done for today... It's just 10 floors....
This sounds so incredible taxing, i mean i love challenges i did challenge runs of all the soulsborne games and had 7h boss attempts and stuff like that but how do you keep your nerves when you reach Behemoth and beyond after 10+h time investment knowing you lose it all if you die?
yup, every 10 floors are a separate instance. as long as you finish each set, you can start the next whenever, provided you didn't delete your save file in the meantime.
When I come back to the game I'm going to attempt this again. I don't know which Job just yet, since I really only am familiar with DRK and DRG... so I'd have to really familiarize myself with other Jobs that apparently do better for solo runs :/ I always wanted to run it with a group of my friends... but none of them play anymore either.
i mean kudos to you and congratz on getting the title, but this video just reinforces my impression that i'll never strive for the title myself. not only do i not care about "flexing" titles /literally been using the makai title for half a year, sinc ei can't be bothered to chang eit before my daily frontline matches), but the content itself just looks like a boring drag to me.the preperation to get 99 aetherpool alone is such a grind. in the last 3 quick 51-60 runs i did with friends, i didn't get a single aetherpool increase, and i'm only on like 18 or so
One of my friends got so addicted to just Palace of the Dead, that her husband forbids her from playing FFXIV. She was neglecting her own health type addicted. I personally don't really like deep dungeons, but I'm glad other people do.
i wanted to solo it but the heavy rng, reliance on pomanders, trap rng, trapped chest rng, and how badly they scaled gunbreaker for lower level content makes it really hard for me to enjoy, yea sure i could choose a class better fitted but whats the point in spending hours, days, weeks on attempts if your not doing it with a class you enjoy playing. plus im a face 4 au ra i wouldnt be able to see the earrings anyway
I have made it to floor 150 several times. Only to have that guy wrenching feeling of needing to start from floor 1 again. The hardest part is staying awake for floors 1-100.

I refuse to try another solo attempt until I have better internet. Lost too many 151+ runs to DCs, and countless ones before that. Even more nightmarish when it's because my connection dipped only for a single second, ending hours of progress. Even without that, 171+ is pretty rough. Every individual mob is like trying to solo a dungeon boss while level sync'd. Definitely a huge difficulty spike considering all the time it takes to get there.
As someone who had the displeasure of playing with someone who proudly spoke of them, there's third party tools which show various things even in Palace. Aggro radius, possible hoard spawn locations and trap locations. There's still the solo aspect of it but there's definitely ways to cheat and as someone who worked for Necro it royally ticked me off.
@BFHtrooptrapguy well... that sucks big hairy nuts. Maybe they should have a mark by our names for anyone using a console to play. We can't download mods to help our game play. Then the title displayed may carry more weight.

@godofm3tal1 yeah. Mybalt is a warrior and a ton of fun. However even if I have the title, somone will just assume I used an ad on to get it now... if I had a ps5 icon next where the sprout would be, THEN people would know I couldn't have used an add on as I'm on console.
My biggest potd boss was getting dc, took me almost a month trying to get that title and now that I'm done struggling getting to 200 floor without getting cuck by the connection I've never experienced any dc again...
.Tbf he was already rocking the Eureka Orthos title, so he was already experienced in deep dungeons. Plus, he was using WAR, one of the best jobs to use in deep dungeons. Don't let this discourage you.
I tried solo flawlessing Eureka Orthos, died around floor 45, the fact that that was around 4 hours just down the drain because of a bs spawn just killed all fun for deep dungeon, it's a cool challenge but far too much of a time investment

I don't imagine myself doing something like this unless I'm literally at the bottom of the barrel on content, but at that point, i'd just play something else. I haven't tried deep dungeons in a good while, but i do remember it being pretty boring to me. For all the hate criterion dungeons get, at least they offer better rewards.
See, now I want to just do nothing today and go play palace if the dead! I've been playing potd almost as long as I've been playing ffxiv (I think I started in 2021? It was during the warcraft exodus, even tho I wasnt coming from WoW). Once my sister's friend heard I like rogue like dungeon crawlers like Gauntlet they introduced me to POTD and although I havent gotten past floor 100 without death or disconnecting I play it consistently. My biggest enemy in potd is friends using up my save slots and swearing they're coming back to complete the run so pls dont delete the saves but they're off playing Baldur's Gate 3 or something so they're hogging my saves >:( I'm a bit more interest in the Lonely Explorer title, as it seems to be my main way of playing the game (Not many friends)(Except to hog my save slots)
with how overbuffed warrior is this expansion its so easy to get necro the only challenge is behemoth boss but once pass that its free run. i did it with mch cause i hate my life
yeah, it sucks when you get kicked out of the game mid-playthrough. I started this business during a major update. as a result - long queues, overloaded servers, and crashes. I crashed so many times on the last 20 floors... every new start was torture, because the first 170 floors were no longer interesting at all, so I went through them without looking, looked at something on the second monitor, and paid for it with new starts a couple of times .. besides, at that time there were no strong enhancements for many classes, so it was all the more difficult. But in the end, it was worth it. the victory was sweeter than ever. 200 floors is hard labor, but it is a real challenge to patience, motivation and persistence of desire. therefore, potd is the best among all. I’m glad that at ff14 collections there are as many as 1% of players who have this title, before I left it was something like 0.4% at the end, and this was still the time when this mode suddenly gained great popularity and audience. When I passed, there was only 0.1 or 0.2% there... Congrats anyway
The problem I have with Necromancer is that you need to grind several hundred regen pots. I'd rather the challenge be 100% skill based, not grind based.
Took me about a week of on and off grinding til I got it. Felt nothing, the title is everywhere nowadays and it was frankly quite unfun to achieve. And trust me, never have I seen anyone notice the title and go "WOW YOU ARE SO COOL!!". In hindsight, I'd have preferred to do other content in that week. Only worth for completionists and those who got absolutely nothing to do anymore in the game.
No shit the community is better than any other. It's a solo PvE content where your blundering fuck ups don't affect anyone else in any other way. Most of the rest of the game is cooperative where you are as critical to the parties success as they are themselves. I hate when people complain about the community in competitive games or content. If you don't like being yelled at or dogged out for being ass, don't play competitive cooperative games or content. It's really that simple.

This sounds so incredible taxing, i mean i love challenges i did challenge runs of all the soulsborne games and had 7h boss attempts and stuff like that but how do you keep your nerves when you reach Behemoth and beyond after 10+h time investment knowing you lose it all if you die?
So as long as you kill the boss you can just take a break and start on the next set of 10 floors another day, did I get that right?
yup, every 10 floors are a separate instance. as long as you finish each set, you can start the next whenever, provided you didn't delete your save file in the meantime.
Have been doing PoTD for a few days now. Decided to play as a sage. My best record so far is floor 30 XD not giving up on it tho. :)

but this video just reinforces my impression that i'll never strive for the title myself. not only do i not care about "flexing" titles /literally been using the makai title for half a year, sinc ei can't be bothered to chang eit before my daily frontline matches), but the content itself just looks like a boring drag to me.the preperation to get 99 aetherpool alone is such a grind. in the last 3 quick 51-60 runs i did with friends, i didn't get a single aetherpool increase, and i'm only on like 18 or so
One of my friends got so addicted to just Palace of the Dead, that her husband forbids her from playing FFXIV. She was neglecting her own health type addicted. I personally don't really like deep dungeons, but I'm glad other people do.
i wanted to solo it but the heavy rng, reliance on pomanders, trap rng, trapped chest rng, and how badly they scaled gunbreaker for lower level content makes it really hard for me to enjoy, yea sure i could choose a class better fitted but whats the point in spending hours, days, weeks on attempts if your not doing it with a class you enjoy playing. plus im a face 4 au ra i wouldnt be able to see the earrings anyway

I am soloing it now, floor 90 at the moment. Never reached above 70 even with a group. I am scared
I have made it to floor 150 several times. Only to have that guy wrenching feeling of needing to start from floor 1 again. The hardest part is staying awake for floors 1-100.

I refuse to try another solo attempt until I have better internet. Lost too many 151+ runs to DCs, and countless ones before that. Even more nightmarish when it's because my connection dipped only for a single second, ending hours of progress.
Even without that, 171+ is pretty rough. Every individual mob is like trying to solo a dungeon boss while level sync'd. Definitely a huge difficulty spike considering all the time it takes to get there.
Necromancer is one of the last real major titles in ff14 because you cant cheat it like the savages and ultimates or fall guys.
As someone who had the displeasure of playing with someone who proudly spoke of them, there's third party tools which show various things even in Palace. Aggro radius, possible hoard spawn locations and trap locations. There's still the solo aspect of it but there's definitely ways to cheat and as someone who worked for Necro it royally ticked me off.

@godofm3tal1 yeah. Mybalt is a warrior and a ton of fun. However even if I have the title, somone will just assume I used an ad on to get it now... if I had a ps5 icon next where the sprout would be, THEN people would know I couldn't have used an add on as I'm on console.
My biggest potd boss was getting dc, took me almost a month trying to get that title and now that I'm done struggling getting to 200 floor without getting cuck by the connection I've never experienced any dc again...

.Tbf he was already rocking the Eureka Orthos title, so he was already experienced in deep dungeons. Plus, he was using WAR, one of the best jobs to use in deep dungeons. Don't let this discourage you.
I cannot even get past floor 10. No joke.
I tried solo flawlessing Eureka Orthos, died around floor 45, the fact that that was around 4 hours just down the drain because of a bs spawn just killed all fun for deep dungeon, it's a cool challenge but far too much of a time investment

@occiderisaethiopissa3702 That's so disappointing. I guess I just don't find the appeal of a title. I don't imagine myself doing something like this unless I'm literally at the bottom of the barrel on content, but at that point, i'd just play something else. I haven't tried deep dungeons in a good while, but i do remember it being pretty boring to me. For all the hate criterion dungeons get, at least they offer better rewards.

See, now I want to just do nothing today and go play palace if the dead! I've been playing potd almost as long as I've been playing ffxiv (I think I started in 2021? It was during the warcraft exodus, even tho I wasnt coming from WoW). Once my sister's friend heard I like rogue like dungeon crawlers like Gauntlet they introduced me to POTD and although I havent gotten past floor 100 without death or disconnecting I play it consistently.
My biggest enemy in potd is friends using up my save slots and swearing they're coming back to complete the run so pls dont delete the saves but they're off playing Baldur's Gate 3 or something so they're hogging my saves >:(
I'm a bit more interest in the Lonely Explorer title, as it seems to be my main way of playing the game (Not many friends)(Except to hog my save slots)

with how overbuffed warrior is this expansion its so easy to get necro the only challenge is behemoth boss but once pass that its free run. i did it with mch cause i hate my life

yeah, it sucks when you get kicked out of the game mid-playthrough. I started this business during a major update. as a result - long queues, overloaded servers, and crashes. I crashed so many times on the last 20 floors... every new start was torture, because the first 170 floors were no longer interesting at all, so I went through them without looking, looked at something on the second monitor, and paid for it with new starts a couple of times .. besides, at that time there were no strong enhancements for many classes, so it was all the more difficult. But in the end, it was worth it. the victory was sweeter than ever. 200 floors is hard labor, but it is a real challenge to patience, motivation and persistence of desire. therefore, potd is the best among all. I’m glad that at ff14 collections there are as many as 1% of players who have this title, before I left it was something like 0.4% at the end, and this was still the time when this mode suddenly gained great popularity and audience. When I passed, there was only 0.1 or 0.2% there...

The problem I have with Necromancer is that you need to grind several hundred regen pots.
I'd rather the challenge be 100% skill based, not grind based.

Congrats, but deep dungeons bore the hell out of me
Took me about a week of on and off grinding til I got it. Felt nothing, the title is everywhere nowadays and it was frankly quite unfun to achieve. And trust me, never have I seen anyone notice the title and go "WOW YOU ARE SO COOL!!". In hindsight, I'd have preferred to do other content in that week. Only worth for completionists and those who got absolutely nothing to do anymore in the game.

No shit the community is better than any other. It's a solo PvE content where your blundering fuck ups don't affect anyone else in any other way. Most of the rest of the game is cooperative where you are as critical to the parties success as they are themselves. I hate when people complain about the community in competitive games or content. If you don't like being yelled at or dogged out for being ass, don't play competitive cooperative games or content. It's really that simple.
