Great review and tutorial. Looking forward to getting my new Spornia 7 net set up soon. Thank you for taking the time to show how this is set up and works.
Great video, thank you! I bought (a slightly used) SPG-7 yesterday, set it up in my yard, practice for an hour and LOVED it... however, I wish I saw your video before I was about to fold the net. The instructions on the paper that came with it were useless, and I struggled for about 12 minutes. I won over the net, eventually :) you made it look so easy and I will do how you did it next time. thank you!
Live watching this. I purchased this net during Covid and love it. I haven’t missed the net yet, but when I move further away to use my Rapsodo MLM the 58 wedge could go over if I flipped. I bought the SP-8 for a friend and you can’t miss that net. If I had the room I would get the SP-8, but the SP-7 is fantastic. I wish they would have supplied those tees when I bought. Thanks for this video!
As someone that just bought a MLM and am looking into this net, how come you have to move back? I'm guessing because the MLM needs a certain amount of distance to read the ball post impact? Thanks!
@@glossolalian Correct, you need a minimum of 8ft from net. That's why I asked an earlier question about hitting over the net. I have a Rukket net that sags in front so it's about 6 1/2 ft high in front. From 8ft back, I sail my 54 degree over it easily (with just a standard shot). With an MLM2Pro, I don't think I would take a chance with anything less than the height of the PG-8. The SPG-7 is probably ok but I personally don't think it's worth the risk.
Agree with this. I have the spg-8 for my main garage setup because we park in the garage. It’s great with the white screen to project on. Good way to start before investing in a dream setup.
Absolutely for a home set up the SPG-8 is definitely the go.. I should have mentioned that in my video thanks for saying that! Realistically that is the setup I sold my wife on... 🤣 Next minute full golf Sim 🤣🤣oops
I bought the SPG-7 after extensive research into portable nets for a backyard. The key for me was the ease in the setup, and the same for the takedown in case of inclement weather. Takes a few times doing either to get the speed down, but it's quite easy and a one person job. I went to Home Depot and bought a blanket that you usually use for moving things and hung it behind the target sheet for extra soundproofing and impact. I would also say to do your research in finding a good mat to hit off of into the net. I found the mats by Sim Turf to be without equal. Their 5x5 Mega Mat is almost 3" thick and you can use a real tee in it. The mat can be set right over the front edge of the net for stability, and with the blanket I mentioned that setup doesn't move an inch , shot after shot. I find the " shank " netting they offer for $60 not worth it at all. You can get sheets of 4x8 plywood at Home Depot and put them on the sides of the net. You'd have to be the worst golfer in the world to hit one outside of that. The mat will last you for probably a minimum of 25,000 balls hitting in one spot continuously, and you can rotate it around anytime, and the blanket keeps the harder shots from hitting into the netting in the back.
Hey Michael thanks for the comment and I absolutely agree.. that's the thing I love about the Spornia nets the quality and like you said it's soooo incredibly quick to put up and take down! Glad you're enjoying it mate. Cheers

Thanks mate! Yeah honestly now that I've seen it and used it I'm actually amazed by the quality. For the price it is an absolute steal. I would recommend like a lot of people are saying in the comments get the SPG-8 for a home set up. It's slightly bigger and if you're not going to travel with it then it makes sense. @@nupezb hahaha well if a bucket of balls cost $10 and you hit one bucket a week then that's the cost for the net! And you will be home so you can help out if needed... 🤣

Great video, Joe! Quick question regarding the height of the net... I'm using an MLMPro2 so I need to be 8 ft back (at least). Any chance I would hit a normal wedge over the top of this from that distance? With my current net (Rukket) I can hit my 54 degree over the top but it's only 6 1/2 ft high because in the middle it sags a bit. By the way, if going with this net, I would get the SPG-8 so that's a total of 9 1/2 ft of height which I would think would be safe from 8ft out. Thoughts?
With the 8 you won't be able to hit over it with a normal standard shot from 8 ft.. even the 7 I wouldn't do it. Unless you add a LOT of loft dynamically through the shot you won't have any issues. The only time you might get in trouble is if you try and really flop it and I mean proper mega flop 🤣
Thanks mate! If you want the best you can buy in Australia then get this one! baysidegolf.com.au/products/mat-by-eztee%C2%AE One thing I will say is don't skimp on a hitting mat or if you do then definitely buy a hitting strip that is super forgiving.. and then make sure your stance mat is the correct height as your hitting strip. I was in pain just doing everyday tasks.. that's when I built my impact strip and honestly is SAVED me! I am now pain free! Took my elbows about 9 months to recover.
Hey mate I'm 6ft (182cm) and I am just good... I have hit the roof a few times with the driver though. It depends on height but also the way you swing the club. I've had friends over that are shorter than me but because they swing more upright in their follow through hit the ceiling every time with driver. It's definitely something you need to test.. also add in a hitting mat that is about 3-4cm thick adds a little bit as well. Cheers
Hey mate you could definitely leave it outside however I wouldn't advise it as it's not really designed for that and it would shorten the life of the product. Also although it comes with pegs and things to hold it down in high winds it might take off. For me though the best thing about this device is that I can set it up and take it down in literally 1 minute. It's honestly that quick. So it doesn't take much time to set up before hitting balls. If it was me personally I would put it up and take it down.. but say if you knew you were using it 2,3 or even 4 days in a row and the weather looked good (minimal wind and rain) I'd potentially leave it up for a few days. Have this net and love it. However, I get lost on mats and their crazy price point. I don’t want injury, but $600+ gets crazy. Do you have a 5’ x 5’ mat to recommend that sort of matches the price point and of the Spornia SP-7? Ever tried Monster Mat? Tri Turf did not work on my garage floor. Slid too much and weird optically with just this strip. I ever bought the Rukket standing mat.
Yeah the mat is something you really don't want to skimp on! However I would definitely check out my hitting strip video. I have since made a new one and cut it into my mat (video coming soon). It has been absolutely amazing and I highly recommend getting or making a strip and then buying a cheaper mat to use for a stance mat. The only thing I'd say is for your stance mat try get something that's at least 35mm tall just so then it gives you a bit of room to work with for your hitting strip. Worst case you could glue some gyms mats to the base of your stance mat to build it up but that's extra work 🤣.. I also use strong double sided tape to keep my mat and impact strip from moving around.
@@JLagGOLF I keep seeing this advise over and over, haha. I probably sound stubborn, but I like the idea of a single mat? My setup has to be taken down between uses, so a single piece seemed the most practical?
@@thegoalnet5915 Yeah I totally get that and I thought the same thing so I bought the premium tee turf because I thought it would provide the most cushion. If you live in America then you are in luck as there are soooo many options for good quality mats. But I would definitely not cheap out on a mat if you're going to go the one piece solution. If you want to save money then a cheaper stance mat and make your own strip or buy a strip to fit in it is the go! I will have a video coming out soon on my Sim and I'll talk more about my strip as I've made a few changes on it.

I’m sure it will work great for you
Hey Jodes the actual turf looks and feels great as you can hit and learn different lies which is cool instead of using the in game penalties. I can't comment on the actual durability of it however as I haven't used it enough. I will say if you intend to use this on concrete as well you are going to have to add some padding to the back as it comes on a thin piece of padding and after a few hundred shots it may start to impact your joints. I'll do another video on the trip turf and the Spornia net in the near future! Cheers
I've had mine seven months and it's sagging , the floor ramp which the balls run down is not flat to the ground, so balls bang on the floor and don't roll back . Spornia won't help
There is a way to make the net straight, it's a video from spornia Australia where u bend the middle of the net on both sides, I have had that sagging problem also and it does fix it, still by far the best net on the market compared with the other nets out there, imo.
Hey Garry as Zachary said definitely check out the video on UA-cam to fix the sagging. Also try contact them on Facebook! I have always found them very responsive and helpful. ua-cam.com/video/KWoaUGzgtbk/v-deo.html

Really!? That's a shame I've had mine a while now and travelled with it and it's still great. Did you contact them for a replacement? Also where did it fail out of interest? Cheers
The spornia seems extremely dangerous backyard in a packed neighborhood or in a garage with vehicles. This has basically zero shank protection. I’m a decent low handicapper and that fear would prevent me from ever owning this. It only takes one bad swing to cause thousands in damage.
Yes it definitely gives the feel that it's small and I can see how it would be mentally hard to overcome that. I definitely understand what you're saying. There is a bigger version than this one I opted for the small one because I travel with it.
Looks nice but way overpriced and way undersized especially using a launch monitor. Hard pass, wish I got all this stuff to try being an amateur golfer trying to make my way. Calloway is my main sponsor but they don’t do nets or launch monitors. Nice set up and great swing you got there.
I think for what you're getting the price is very reasonable. The quality of the net is fantastic 😍. The best thing about the Spornia nets is the ability to put it up and take it down within a minute. This is perfect for people who don't have the space for a permanent set up or if you need something portable. Callaway make some great clubs! That sounds cool

@@JLagGOLF went with a Monster Mat to start. 1 year unconditional guarantee. Good chance to really use it and put it through its paces. I’d call it mid priced at $380 US?
@@thegoalnet5915 That’s great I have heard really good things about the monster mat. I watched soooo many reviews when researching to build my sim lol. I think it was garage golf that did the review I watched on the monster mat. The frustrating thing for us Aussies is that all that good stuff costs an arm and a leg to ship! I’m sure it will work great for you
What is the quality of the tri-turf?? Really considering buying it from them
Hey Jodes the actual turf looks and feels great as you can hit and learn different lies which is cool instead of using the in game penalties.
Cheers
Love the content, how tall are you?
Thanks mate! I'm 6 foot. Or maybe just very very slightly under but I'm calling at 6 ft just cause it makes me feel better hahaha.

Looks awesome just have to wait for a sale or discount
Yeah I understand it's a decent outlay but really for what you're getting when you get it you'll be really happy! I think the big boy SPG-8 Is on sale at the moment at least in Australia it is.. for $100 off.
Cheers
@@JLagGOLF thanks !! Was hoping your UA-cam channel had a discount code haha great videos love to follow you
@@tjrose6845 I'll get back to you I might be able to work something out with them on that!
@@tjrose6845 Hey mate I secured a code for $50 off.
Cheers
Code: masters23
@@JLagGOLF any luck on the discount ?
I had this unit it did not hold the hardware failed after four months use!
Really!? That's a shame I've had mine a while now and travelled with it and it's still great. Did you contact them for a replacement? Also where did it fail out of interest?
Cheers
I own this net. I love it, but one downside is that the color of you balls will get darker and darker (blackier) as you practice.
Oh wow ok I haven't seen it yet but I'll keep an eye on that! Thanks 👍
It broke down and ripped in 8 months. No warranty coverage. Save your money.
😢 That's not good mate are you located in Australia? The Aussie guys are legends
