Hi Sensei love the video as always. I really liked the video. I think anything that is shown on this channel is informative and helpful. I mean even the comments about how in Japan the difference between calling something Yoko Tomoe and Tomoe its just Tomoe. Love it bits of that information are cool and makes me want to watch your videos more. Tomoe is a very complicated throw and I understand its really hard to explain. I think you did a great job. You asked what are my favorite videos of course as you know will be your Right vs Right Uchi Mata I mean wow. Really amazing. I watch that video daily. I love when you talk about grips and timing. I loved how you explained what a throw looks like in a practicality over standard Uchikomi. I hope this is informative and helpful I just as always want to say thank you🙇‍♂.

Great clip. One of my fellow coaches has a great tomoe nage, you'll be receiving some video of it very soon! My question is, what does tomoe translate to, as I've seen a few different translations. Cheers!

Is the term "monkey flip" only pro wrestling or legit combat term?

I like tomoe nage very much but i see all try this when they are tired just to show they are attacking for don't receive a shido for passivity..but they receive sometimes shido for false attack. However one the most beautiful Judo technique

I learned Judo in the UK as a kid over 40 years ago, and this was everybody's favourite throw. We were only taught the double collar grip for this. We were banned from using it in competition because of the risk of injury. I actually got to use it in a real-life situation on one occasion. An assailant approached me very fast, and I managed to grab him and roll back. I gave him an extra flick with my foot as he went over, and he landed very badly. Badly enough that he couldn't get up and do what ever he intended.

I like this style of video. We can see live examples. It'll pair well with an instructional type of video. I'm wondering what do the Japanese think about Sumi Gaeshi? It seems to be interchangeable with Tomoe Nage.

My personal opinion is that SUMIGAESHI is more of a transition to NEWAZA than a throw🙇

very nice video! where i train most of those tomoe nage’s would have been scored waza ari, since uke lands on side. on the naming conventions: interestingly where i train ippon seoi nage is typically just called ‘seoi’ and morote seoi nage is referred to as ‘morote’. We consider them distinct throws for some reason.

I really like this type of video, but I like it when you demonstrate details yourself better. I have a very, very odd tomoenage that I developed when I was young. It is similar to some you show, but I use both legs to flip uke down next to me and then roll up into Tate Shiho Gatame. So I lift them, then switch directions and use my feet to rotate their body to their back. Very hard to hit the timing right, but very hard to turn out of if I get it at the right moment.

muy buena la aclaración de los nombres morote e ippon, siempre tenia esa duda !! En el gokyo solamente le llaman seoi nage. Favor de subir con subtitulos asi lo podemos traducir mejor. Gracias. Saludos,
