Ben and Megan, Just wish to say thanks for your great videos. I am gradually getting through them. As regards Megan's poorly knees, prior to buying a garden with a house and inheriting my late Mum's little dog, my partner Debs and I used to spend hols doing certain long distance national trails (great hols, very memorable, hope to start doing them again some day) and after experimentation it ended up that I carried both peoples camping / everything gear in a single capacious pack called an Aarn Natural Balance. The front chest pockets that come with that pack each have a rod in the back of them that keeps them proud of your chest so they are a lot less sweaty than the OMM chest pouch. This meant Debs could enjoy the trip and carried zilch. I highly rate that pack and it was comfy for me with anything upto 17kg all in, but not more than that. Obviously, we weren't doing the same elevation gain and rough ground that you do. However, might be worth a look at for certain of your trips. During all our trips, I never came across anyone else that carried two peoples gear, but it definitely worked well for us. Best wishes Michael
Hey Michael, thanks for watching! Really pleased you enjoy them 🙏🏼 what long distance trails have you and Debs done? We loved the West Highland Way, looking forward to hiking some more when we can 🙌🏼 I personally love the sound of that but I’m not so sure Ben would be too keen 😂 I pretty much threw the kitchen sink at my knees and have finally managed to stop the pain. We completed the Mullardoch round in late September, almost 70km with 4600m of ascent without pain 🎉 that pack sounds great though, will check it out ☺️
We managed to complete a West Highland Way, Dales Way, Cleveland Way, Hadrians Wall Path, Southern half of Pennine Way, Offas Duke Path, something called the Lake District Haute Route from an old edition of Trail Magazine. Have managed a bit of a Knoydart trek with overlaps of your (lower) routes there, left the car in the free public car park at Mallaig, got train down to Glenfinnan, walked to Inverie and got boat back to Mallaig. Can highly recommend the Cleveland Way as it may not be on your radar. Top of my dream to do list is the South West Coast Path. Unfortunately, work obligations prevent this at the moment. We always wear Superfeet green insoles and never had a problem with our feet. Used to have a similar lightweight (not ultralight) gear obsession to Ben, but all my gear is of a 10 years older vintage.
Hi Guys, that has to be one of your best videos to date. The weather and views were amazing, especially the sun rise. Thanks for sharing it. I hope Megs is taking care of her knees, as pretty steep both up and down. When you left the track for your first pull up, do you follow a recognised route or do you just make it up as you go along ?. I walk on Dartmoor and the Lake district and I have a Fenix 6X sapphire, they are not cheap, but the convenience of being able to see your OS grid Ref, plus bearing, plus any other data you want to configure by glancing at your wrist is just brilliant. You can load GPX files for routes, and install talkytoaster maps, and the battery life is 60 Hours with GPS running. Its an ABC watch, OHR, and pulse ox, it does everything. I generally use maps and a compass with the watch for backup OS info. Cant recommend it enough. (Edit), ignore my ramblings, I see you bought a Sunto, I am sure it will be great. Anyway, another great video, thanks for taking the time to make it.
Thanks Michael! Really pleased you enjoyed it, was an epic adventure. Honestly some of the best hiking and camping conditions we’ve had since moving up here 😍 my knees have been great actually, appreciate you asking. Been thinking about doing a video on what I’ve done to stop the pain, but not sure it’s interesting to anyone but me 😂 We had a preplanned route that we followed on the GPX, but there wasn’t a trail in between the two pairs of Munro’s. They’re both pretty popular mountains though, so we joined tracks regularly which was nice. Ben did indeed get a Suunto 7, so far it’s been a game changer with the maps and smart features. Has its pros and cons, but so far so good! Thanks as always for watching and taking the time to comment 🙏🏼
Thanks James! We lucked out with the weather on this trip for sure 🙏🏼 we sure did, been living on the West Coast for over a year now and love it, best decision we ever made 😍
Excellent video guys, those conditions deserved a longer film 👍. Check out the Garmin Fenix 5 or 6 on the watch front, does all the things you're after and the battery lasts a long time. I only charge mine about once a week which typically involves several runs or cycles in the week. I think the hills you pointed to on the island to the SW were the Paps of Jura. Keep the videos coming guys, it's the closest I'll get to them for the foreseeable! Cheers 👌
Thanks for watching James, glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🏼 was some of the best mountain conditions we’ve had since moving up here. That battery life is insane! Apple could definitely take note from that, my series 5 lasts around a day now, which I’m not complaining about considering how terrible it was after the iOS7 update. Ben ended up going with the Suunto 7, so far it’s been really good, has its pros and cons like most smart / sports watches, but the mapping has been great 👍🏼 I think you’re right - was a bit disorientated and needed to check the map, but I’m pretty sure it was Jura too ☺️
I bet! This was from a fair few months ago, sometime mid September I think from memory. Such a great trip and brilliant set of mountains, especially when you get the views 😍 thanks for watching pal 🙏🏼
Hey Dale. Thanks for watching. Funny enough I ended up getting a Suunto 7, as I wanted the mapping features. I am tempted by the 9 Baro for that beast of a battery life! The 7 is flawed but the maps are brilliant on the watch, total game changer.
Something seriously wrong here, this Country is crazy. I cannot walk my two dogs through my local park after 5 pm here in England due to a curfew, but you are allowed to hike and climb mountains, and even Wild Camp during the pandemic. Not right at all.
Hey Bill, this video was from back in Autumn when we were allowed to hike and camp. We’re finally catching up on some editing now we’ve got a bit more time on our hands.
@@OutdoorIntrigue That’s what I am trying to say, the curfew on me walking through my local park started on the 17th September 2020. Every day between 5pm and 7 am. Policed and patrolled by 5 security officers and a dog van. Yet in Scotland people were allowed to hike, camp and Wild Camp. Unbelievable
Jeez, that sounds unnecessarily excessive, especially considering the government have been encouraging outdoor exercise right from the start of all this. Why are they putting a curfew on the park? Really feel for you, seriously hoping this is the last lockdown we go through and we get some freedoms back for Spring 🤞🏼
@@OutdoorIntrigue I’m watching your videos and getting depressed here. Hey if you can get out in the mountains good on ya. But I get stopped by 5 yes 5 security guys for walking through my park that is three quarters of a mile from my house. Worse the park is empty, no gates to touch, no people about. So I have to walk my dogs around the streets dodging people that are doing exactly the same. Imagine that all your allowed to do is walk around the streets you live, no fields, no park. If you do you are stopped by security guards. Worse than China.
I’ve got the cops flying past outside my block of flats, some neighbours are arguing and you can’t go out. Saw this, watched the lot, Thank You!
Feel for you Paul, it’s been a really tough 10 months! Glad we could bring you a little bit of the Highlands ♥️
@@OutdoorIntrigue It was amazing what you put up. A memory for life for you both I bet! All the best Paul
It really was, such a phenomenal weekend! Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏼 all the best, Megs & Ben

Good video, nice videography and good commentary, a lot of U tube vids are spoiled a bit by bad commentary IMMO. Stunning location. Well done guys
Thanks Nigel, appreciate you watching! Glad you enjoyed the adventure, was a brilliant trip 🙏🏼
Hi Ben / Meg, Fantastic vid you certainly captured the West Coast at its best. Ps did you ever move to Scotland ?.
Thanks James! We lucked out with the weather on this trip for sure 🙏🏼 we sure did, been living on the West Coast for over a year now and love it, best decision we ever made 😍
Nice one once again guys. I thought Bidean Nam Bian was the highest in Argyll until watching this!
Thanks for watching Ollie, glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🏼 I think it used to be until they redrew the boundaries and included Bute in with Argyll ☺️
Another great video 👌🏼.

@@OutdoorIntrigue I was wildcamping the exact same day as you, i recognise the sunrise with the colour, i posted a video of that same day as well :D
Ha, you have a great memory! Was such a good day to be in the hills, where were you camping? Will have to check out your video 😍
Great video! What camera equipment do you shoot with?
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🏼 surprisingly, this entire video was shot on iPhone 11, been really impressed with the quality 🙌🏼
Good video , ben cruachans not argylls biggest munro though. Thats bidean nam bian in glencoe 👍
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏼 Bidean nam Bian used to be the highest point in Argyll until the boundaries were redrawn in the 70s ☺️
Another brilliant video guys, keep up the amazing work
Thanks so much Max! Appreciate you watching 😊
Have a look at a Suunto 9 Bari that’s what I use fantastic bit of kit

It Masters the wind, like a wee windmaster....agreed, MSR Copied the gap from the face of the burner to pot bottom!!! Shame be upon you M.S.R....
It is a master indeed 😉 Cheeky MSR. It’s probably one of my favourite bits of camping gear the Soto, just works. Cheers for watching! 🙌🏼
