Im not sure if I'm the only one that thinks this way, but I'm pretty sure this is utter BULLSHEIT. (possibly even illegal.)
Please like & share this video, i want mental health to be something people talk about and don't feel ashamed of! We need to get someone to see this video that can actually help make a difference.

My school have these days called 'empowerment days' where instead of doing lessons you learn about things like sex, realationships, mental health, bullying things like that and we have 3 of these each school year. So i think that more schools need to do things like this because it helps people really understand things like depression

You are doing a good thing raising awareness. Here in the states, that landlord would be sued and put out to the curb for that kind of discrimination. If you were to already have had a long history of suicidal attempts, they MIGHT be able to make a case, but it would still be weak. Having no history of actual attempts, they don't have a leg to stand on. Here in the states that is.

Precious.....I am not following what your comment about our president means? Our current president has absolutely nothing to do with current housing laws and regulations. He has only been in office a little over a month and his Housing guy was just approved by Congress last week. No action has been taken in the area of housing at all, so I am not understanding the comment about our president in this conversation?

You're making your country sound like it's the best country in the world, and you're acting like anything is possible. You're also saying your country is against discrimination, which is not true because look who the majority of your country voted for. I'm really not trying to start an argument, just stating my opinion. :)

100% agree. Mental health is definitely something that needs to spoken about more and more needs to be taught about it in schools. I don't know for sure if I have depression because I'm too scared to actually find out, I know that I have anxiety and I'm looked at weirdly enough for that. But I 100 no actually 110% agree with what you said in this video. As people we do need to come forward and talk about our mental health and what we are or have battled as it seems we (as a whole) seem to hide from stuff like this and not address it and it needs to be addressed

I agree with you 100%, I cannot understand people who judge people because of their mental health. I suffer with anxiety and depression myself and in my old job, I got denied promotion because they found out about my mental health issues through someone who I thought I could trust and that I confined in that I thought wouldn't judge me but I was so wrong and they ended up telling my boss about it when it wasn't her right. It is a similar situation to what you have spoke about in this video. I just want to say that we need to be taught about mental health issues more often so that people are able to understand it more than they do now

Obviously diagnosed depression is worse and I'm not trying to be relatable, but this really speaks to me. Mental health should definitely be recognized a lot more than it already is and people should spread this video

I suffer from bipolar disorder and I agree. People need to be educated on mental health. People see it as a weakness, or as something that isn't real you just dont have what it takes or want attention. But no, its real, and sometimes its painful to live with. Imagine being depressed because you have a disorder that makes you depressed and people judge you for it. Depression-seption.

Mental health needs to be talked about more!
In class this term in theoretical sport we started talking smoking and then moved onto eating disorders the next week. To be fair i was quite happy that schools were finally talking about mental health! But the week after my teacher comes in and goes, "forget everything we learnt about for the past 2 weeks! We are doing a new study that is more beneficial! Why we need to exercise regularly... I HAVE BEEN DOING THAT STUDY SINCE I WAS 9 YEARS OLD! And they come in and say what we were previously learning WASNT BENEFICIAL! Mental health seriously does need to be talked about more

I had a boyfriend for 2 years who suffered from bipolar manic depression and I could tell when he wasn't taking his medications. He would either be super hyper and going a mile a minute or he would be really low and angry to the point where he would actually physically abuse me. It sucked because I knew it wasn't his fault and almost felt like I had to stay with him so he wouldn't fall into a major depression and I had to overlook and almost forgive him for abusing me because I knew it was his illness and not him. It also didn't help that I found out that he was using hardcore drugs as well. When we finally did break up, he became really mad and started to stalk me and would show up at my house and demand to see me. It got so bad that I had to leave town for a while. When I left, my roommates started letting him come over and hang out and he started bringing this girl he was "dating" over. He then began having sex with her in my bed and my roommates found out and told him he couldn't come back anymore. They called me and told me to come back home and take care of it. So I came home and went to his parents and told them everything. Mind you I was 18 and he was 17 at the time. At first they didn't believe me because they never really liked me but once his younger sister came in and confirmed the stories of him abusing me and said she was scared of him and that's why she never said anything, they finally believed me. He then came home with the girl he was "dating" and his parents told her to leave and that she was to no longer have any contact with their son. We all sat down and talked and he got really angry and tried to deny everything but his parents called some of his friends and they admitted seeing him use drugs and knew he was having sex with the girl and doing drugs with her as well. So they decided to send him to rehab. Now, 15 years later, he is a paramedic in school to become a dr, married with 2 children, a youth pastor at his church and has been drug free since going to rehab all those years ago. He has never laid his hands on a girl since and is back to the guy I fell in love with when I first started dating him. At the time, he hated me for going to his parents but now he wouldn't be where he is if I hadn't. If you know someone who has mental health issues and you see them struggling or participating in things that are bad for them, the best thing you can do for them is tell someone who can get them real help. As much as you want to try and help them yourself, you are not equipped to do so and as much as they beg you, guilt trip you or even threaten you, standing by and doing nothing is not going to help them. They cannot help themselves, they cannot figure it out, you just talking to them isn't going to solve their problem. Go to their parent, a counselor at school, a police officer, anyone who has the authority to actually do something for them and get them real help, whether it's rehab, therapy, being put in a facility or even jail if they are engaged in criminal behavior. You are not being a friend by not saying anything.

I have depression as well and have had it for many years, I have noticed it has been exclusive in living conditions as well as work places. I understand they want to address it, but there's both right and wrong ways to approach the situation. And just because my mental health isn't always stable doesn't mean that I'm suicidal 24/7 nor do I allow a chemical imbalance to get the best of me. I can relate to your struggles, Mike. Keep pushing through it, man.

I completely agree with you. When i had depression, everyday felt like a pain. I didnt smile as much and the things i kept thinking about in my head made it worst. I wanted to tell someone but i felt like i couldnt. I felt so alone. I think schools should teach students about mental health to know how to deal with it and teach others that this is serious and we should be aware of it

I'm actually shocked when schools in America doesn't teach about mental health. It's something that anyone should be taught just like math or science. I live in Europe/Finland so I know what mental health is and how depression etc. affects to people. And Mike I can see how you help people out. I have watched every single one of your mental health video(even the almost committed suicide one) and they are truly inspiring and I can see how much of an impact you have on people. Keep strong and keep doing what you do. Sending an virtual hug and lots of love♡

I went though so much shit in Middle School. Every year I was bullied, every year. One year no one bothered to even say "Happy Birthday" so I wanted to actually die. I'm in high school now and I just wanna say whoever is being bullied or being told "you can't" don't listen to them things will get better. I still think back to middle school and cry but I realized now that I am important and that I do belong in the world, and so do you💕

Mental health definitely does need to be spoken about and taught more. People with depression are constantly given ideas on how to 'cheer up' ETC and people with anorexia are asked 'why can't you just eat?' Things are so different from the outside if you haven't experienced them

Finally someone else who agrees with me!! I've been saying for years that schools need 2 teach the students about mental health! I have depression I was diagnosed with it when I was 17 I'm now 20 turning 21 & it well & truly pisses me off when people judge me because of it it's not my fault I have a mental issue & it's no one else's fault that they have it either😢

I' have depression and anxiety it started when I was bullied throughout school I was in 3rd class (not sure what grade that is in America) but it was this one girl who would bully me and since I was 7 I've always thought negatively of myself because of this even before that. But the school could see what was happening and I told my mam and she told the school the school did nothing about it and they continued to let the girl who was bullying me to sit beside me and I had no one then because nobody in the school liked me and I had no friends. It got worse last year when I lost my grandfather because he was always there for me the only thing that got me through was music and your videos they gave me a reason to smile when I felt I couldn't and I thank you for that. I don't think you should be kicked out of your apartment because of your depression it's not right and I agree that it's like saying someone couldn't live there because of the colour of their skin or something like that

I personally don't have depression but some of my friends have or have had it, and tbh it isn't nice. I feel the school system should have at least a few classes teaching about mental illnesses and how they affect us. Never ever should someone have to go through depression alone, and DEFINITELY NOT REJECTED FOR HAVING THE ILLNESS THAT MAY AFFECT THE WAY YOU LIVE!!!!!!!!! Who else agrees??

In our school everyone in 9th grade (14/15 year old) has one week called mental health week. Instead of a normal school week, people come to tell their stories about eating disorders, alcoholism, any mental health disorder, safe sex between any genders and stuff like that. Professionals that work with these kinds of stuff also talked about it. It's so important and I'm glad we did this. I already knew a lot about stuff like this beforehand, but most others in my grade didn't know a thing.

I have depression and anxiety, I agree with you 100%. The teachers at my school treat me completely differently because I have these. They don't let me do the same activities as my classmates. My classmates and teachers are always questioning why I have a jumper on, I swear I'm not allowed to be cold. My friend gave me some great advice, I was upset because I was told I had depression and anxiety because that meant people would have another reason to bully me so he said 'there is nothing wrong with having depression and anxiety because now you have a name for those feelings you couldn't name. And who want to be the same as everyone else, your imperfections set you a side from everyone else and they make you, you.' This advice helped and still helps me, maybe it will help you all.

That's completely insane. I'm so sorry you went through this nonsense.
back when I was in middle school, my principle tried to kick me out after realizing I had cut myself in the past. She claimed I was putting the other students in danger by showing my arms after my cuts had healed and had very light scars on them.
I've been diagnosed with chronic depression and multiple anxiety disorders, I've had them since my father tragically was killed in a gun incedent when I was 9 and my mom had began to leave at random during her drug addiction (she's luckily recovered now, going on 2 years.), leaving me tramatized, and was possibly even there before his death due to family history of depression and other emotional/mental disorders.
My family was repulsed by how my principle picked at me everyday and threatened to kick me out for being a self harmer that was sprouted into my mind from depression, and I begged my aunt to take me out of the school because the kids and the principal attacked me verbally daily.
*OUR DEPRESSION DOES NOT DEFINE WHO WE ARE AND WILL ALWAYS BE*
I was trying to recover and _had_ when my principle accused me of putting other students in danger and threatened to kick me out of the school. I was 12 and being told my presence was a threat to my fellow students and my friends because of my depression and what my mindset was put in because of that depression. it was horrible.

I got you, I have depression and have had it since I was around 10. I am currently going through a bad time and my doctors have taken 2 months so far to "process" me and get me a password to just email someone, not even face to face.... NHS is free but you have to wait until you're dead to get noticed.

This is so true! I hate it when I say that I have depression because so many people my age say that they have it just for attention, and I don't want people to think that I just want attention. But honestly I get pissed when people joke about it! If you have depression, then you are a fighter. You deal with the world and face judgements, and you are still here. Yes it gets dificult are times, but when you make it through them, it is worth it. I know that many of us with it have had suicidal thoughts, I know I have.. but it helps if you find something like writing or music or, like Michael, videos to help express your emotions... if you make a mistake, or do something bad, as in cut or something like that, talk to someone that you trust about it.. they will understand and help you. That person, or those people, are the reasons you... we stay. Depression is a real and serious thing, and all of is that have... consider yourself a warrior. Thank you Mike for making videos like these, and being such an amazing person. You are an idol of mine, and I love you!

It annoys me so much when they think that I act a certain way and the worst is when they actually have the nerve to tell me I don't have it. Others are afraid of people like you and myself and other "gifted" persons, because they fear getting a diagnosis themselves. Don't be too hard on them.
