Or a Zoom H1, a Rode Wireless Go, and one short cable to connect them. 😉 Seriously though, that's a great kit, but a LOT of work before you even record anything. Nevertheless, you can't argue with professional, dedicated setups if they produce the results. Good video. Thanks.

I love my Sound Devices 833. They also have a "MixPre" series that works great. You could try the Sound Devices MixPre6.
If you are on a budget and haven’t been doing sound professionally the zoom f4 is a great budget option that has the features you would need but doesn’t have 32 bit float if you want it. They no longer sell them new anymore though so you’d have to get used. The mix pre 6 is also a good option but costs about double the price but is missing some of the professional features like bnc timecode in and out and duel sd card slot. I guess it depends on what you need your recorder for.
The 833 has only 6 mic pre-amps how is the sound affected on channels 7&8
I don't use then often, but they work well! I rarely use all 6 preamps, so when it comes up I can route one of the 6 inputs to tracks 7 and 8. If I need more than 6 inputs with phantom, I'd probably go find a Scorpio
