I know You may have noticed that I am repeating myself, but I found this dear, beautiful, interesting video of Yours, in July, when the temperature here is over 30 degrees Celsius. That is why we are grateful to You for cooling us down a little and saving us the use of air conditioning ❤😀
Yes lol! Wow, our winters drag into March and sometimes April 😒. It has even snowed on May long weekend here in the past. We can’t wait for summer again
Yeah it can get cold here. A damp cold! Right now we turned the furnace off when it’s not below -5. Uses so much fuel to run. We have our electric heaters running. 😊. When tons of snow falls a lot of the boats aren’t shovelled right away and it’s scary. They list and look heavy
Hey skipper…. Loving the content. Just a heads up about heat here in the North…. Get yourself 1 maybe 2 Refleks gravity fed diesel heaters…. Been using them on the east coat of Canada on a 50’ offshore commercial fishing vessel for years now…. Light em up in Sept , put em out in June.
Self sustaining, minimal maintenance , fail safe heat. Literally sips fuel…..Like literally. I have 2 aboard my 38’…. One in engine room … another in the saloon … costs maybe $20 a month to run both of them… WELL WORTH IT!!!!!
Lol!!Pretty quick reply! Must be cold! Lol!!🦞 I am from Nova Scotia… we are able to order them here through Straight McKay marine . We always just plumb them from an isolated gravity fed tank….. Light it and forget it given proper install/ set up…. *****Tip****. Get the “H” shape external smokestack to prevent pretty much any and all downdraft in any environment . Cheers ☮️
Working in 20-25 seas all winter here and have never had a problem. Leave her tied to the wharf a few days / week still no problem….. I have two 30 gallon tanks isolated to each heater.
Very cool, literally! I think moving on to our boat for full time living, it the winter months that may present the biggest challenge. While I have lived in Alberta for most my life I think the west coast winter will still take some getting used too. Thanks very much for the winter tips! And Merry Christmas to the entire MV Skookum1 family!
Yes the winter months is when we worry about freezing pipes, and we have been closing some sea cocks that we aren’t using too. Where we live we get lots of snow too. So we have to shovel a lot!
Interesting video, liked the heating explanation. Supposed to be hitting -20 this week here in the north okanogen…hope it stays warmer your way…keep warm merry Xmas
Merry Christmas to you too😉. I think we get wind chills that cold up here too. It’s a damp cold from the ocean. Snow can get heavy too. We have to keep up with shovelling the house and the boat. Keeps us busy I guess!
During a cold snap our furnace can keep the boat at 20 degrees C. Yes you could wear shorts and a t shirt but we usually keep the heat a little lower and wear a sweater and pants. Thanks for watching.
The harbour freezes a little bit near the shore but around where our boat is it doesn’t so we are okay. Everyone moves their boats to other docks in the winter that are safer
@@MVSKOOKUM1 I am also following you from Tucson. Its going to be in the 70's for a high for the next couple of days, then 60's for a couple of days, then remain in the 50's. (21-10C). Hoping to move up to Puget Sound next year. Going to check out a N475 in January. Have gotten in line for a new build N475.
When you live up in Northern Bc your whole life you become used to the lifestyle. Skiing, snowboarding snowshoeing, snowy mountains. The summers are sunny but short. We just get used to it but we all dream of the Caribbean every winter lol
Thank heavens for heat..... and coffee! I am loving your videos.
Thanks! So glad u like watching! Coffee makes my day on a boat. It always tastes better on the ocean!
Enjoying winter eh!! Gotta love it 😀
No more winter lol. I need sun now haha

Great video on the heating systems. Looks cold! Wondering about that boat at 10:12. It's looking pretty low in the water.

How warm can you make the boat? Enough to be in t-shirts and shorts? Thx.

Does the harbor freeze?
How do you deal with ice build up in the harbor and around the boat?
The harbour freezes a little bit near the shore but around where our boat is it doesn’t so we are okay. Everyone moves their boats to other docks in the winter that are safer
Merry Christmas
Merry Xmas to you too!! Will you have snow for Xmas?

Nice! Do you get snow there lol? Nice so your thinking of the 47 foot. That would be a perfect size !
Ummm…. Rethinking spending next winter in Alaska….. thinking of you in the cold…..
Lol just have heated gloves, vest and socks if you go up there lol. Brrrr
Do you like cold weather that much, why are you there.

Um, no.
Just NO.
Utah is bad enough.
Gonna retire to someplace warm.
Taiwan, Florida, The Philippines all sound nice.
Hahaha. Yeah when we retire we want to go down south to shorter winters ! I’ll pretend I’m on a beach right now haha
I live about 40kms from you lol hope we more than what we have
You must be at the lake or Terrace?
