- My poulan chainsaw had a cracked primer bulb. I show how to replace a primer bulb. Its just as easy to replace the primer bulbs on blowers, string trimmers, wed eaters.
I am an amazon affiliate , Shopping through my link doesn't cost you a thing, but I get a small fee when you do. Thanks! amzn.to/2VKQjIV
Another video wanted me to take apart half the chainsaw just to replace the bulb. Common sense and your video told me different and save me. Thanks
THank you sir. Mine has been inop because of the primer bulb for quite some time. Now I need it.
Yes, very good video. Great quality, especially the zooming in, and I like the fact that this was in real time. You saved me the difference between a new chain saw and the price of the part!
When I bought my first chainsaw, that is the kind that I bought, but it gave out on me because, I was trying to drop too many trees with it.My friend and I just dropped a tree wednesday, because I heard there might be bad weather coming, and that tree could crush my house. That was really cool of you doing that in real time.I have to work on a saw now, because if you take it to a shop,it doesn't matter what the problem is,you will pay $75 and up,so you probably saved someone $75.00.You have an excellent channel.
Thanks very much for watching and subscribing. I have another video that will be up tomorrow about fixing a mower deck.
Have the exact same chainsaw and my primer bulb was cracked . Thank you for a straight forward video and a link to parts.
G H glad it helped!
I have one just like yours, I have had it for many years and l finely have to replace my primer bulb. I love this saw, never had any problems with it, I have cut a lot of wood over the years!
Thank you so much for sharing this great video. My chain saw stopped working and my arm almost came off from cranking it until I saw your video and I said Ahheh, this was the reason and it was an easy task after this changing primer bulb after watching your detailed instructions. I got the primer bulb off ebay, 10 for 7$. I God Bless.
Great! Glad it helped! Thanks for taking the time to tell me.
First time viewer here. Very nice, straightforward video. I hate the ones that lead into their instructions as if they're doing a safety video for a national corporation. Like Joe Friday said: Just the facts, ma'am. Just the facts. EDIT: the primer bulbs can be purchased on Amazon or eBay. I think i got mine from eBay for a couple dollars.
Perfect. Thanks you. Same saw and everything.
That’s really helpful, appreciate you taking the time, cheers.
The right tools sure makes a difference. Nice work.
Good video. To the point. Easy to follow. Ordering the part and will follow. Thx
Thank for letting me know.
@@bctruck Worked like a charm. Thanks
Perfect video...many thanks.
That's sit good quality video men easy and simple. Thanks. Gustavo. .Houston TX
Thanks!
The ethanol that is added to the gasoline is what causes most of the problems with small engines. Always use non ethanol gasoline in small engines.
If you can find it. I have to go about 70 miles to get non ethanol fuel. Just over the line in Texas. Next time I go I'm bringing a few gas cans with me.
Or just dont leave gas in your small engines
I use the premix in a can
Thanks for this helpful video! I was cranking and cranking... then I looked at my primer bulb - more cracks than a 97 yr old's brow.
Glad it was some help!
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose Yes - helpful. Now... where did you get the primer bulb replacement? I live in a small town and having a hard time finding one for the Poulan chainsaw.

+CFC_Champ - yes the link above worked - jackssmallengines.com
Good instructive video. Thanks.
Well done demo…. as usual.
Thanks Tom!
It's GREY and COLD here - we had Frost warnings this morning - I think it's going to be a switch this year. One day Frigid weather the next day so HOT you need A/C and that A/C won't get shut off until November We are expecting El Nino starting June/July and going through this winter which will be really nice - Won't need heat or much of it this winter
We have had several years of severe drought and I hate to complain about rain, but I am definitely a " sun person". I get very depressed and lethargic with no sun and it's almost immediate. I can deal with one day of gray, but I need sun the next day or I have to force myself to get up and do things.
thanks driver
Hey there! What are you doing back there?? Come back to the present!
Relatively simple process. Would have liked to see if the saw actually fired up after replacing the primer bulb.
If it's such a simple process, why are you watching videos on how to do it, And how would seeing my saw fire up, help you to replace your primer bulb?
An easy fix for the guru, lol, thanks!
Thanks!
Seen where you tested the bulb and got the fuel to fill it. If it’s backwards will any fuel come in the bulb.
Thanks for the video.
Nope.
I got one just like that but I only buy the bulb that’s all lowes had so where else can I purchase them at. Thanks for the video
Amazon or jacks small engines.
Good fix and video, I really like your camera and the remote zoom, it also most have a rotating screen. If don't mind what make and model it. Thank you.
Its a canon HFM400. I love the remote. It keeps me from having to learn how to edit! LOL!!! Yes it does have a rotating screen.
thank man
Great vid thanks :)
great video man.

Thanks John!
Ha! I have that exact same saw Brad! Is the fuel filler cap an absolute bear to remove on yours? I need a wrench to remove it, nothing wrong with the threads, its just very tight.
I have to use the bar nut tool to remove it. I've even greased the cap O-ring and it worked for a very short time.

Yea, pretty much the same problem I have. What a goofy design eh? Its a great little saw though, its never failed to start. (It actually replaced my jonsered turbo, that piece of shit was about $400.00 and had to have the oil pump on the bar oiler replaced three times. (Two on Jonsered, one on me, I ditched it after that.)
***** wow! ive never owned jonsred but i had always heard they were quality. pays to hear the truth from former owners.

My father had one for years, a few of my friends did as well. I grew up right around the corner from a dealer that lived out in the boonies. You can't imagine my disappointment. But I guess, thats why i should have stuck to buying an older one. My father never had problems with his. But his was non-turbo, and had a mechanical (push bulb) oiler. A tiny oil pump constantly running running wasn't a great idea. And I used nothing but Jonsered Bar oil, so it wasn't like I jammed the pump up on my own.
love it. good job
Helpful tip....So after you install the primer bulb if you dont get gas on it its backwards?? M
There is a suction side of the primer bulb and a return side. The suction side goes to the carb and the other side goes to the tank.
Is the screw in primer bulb a direct replacement for the primer bulb that only had 2 nubs sticking out instead of screws? I am wondering if the nubs are the same center to center dist as the screws. Otherwise it all looks the same. Thanks
no,if you take off a bulb that is held in with screws,it must be replaced with same.
it appears both the lines are the same diameter on your rig. I ordered a part from Amazon that said it fit the wild thing but the incoming fuel line was a larger diameter than the other. So now I am not sure if the one on jacks is the same or the actual right one.
Matthew Trekell the outside diameter is the same but I think the inside diameter of the hoses are different. It's been a while since I worked on a poulan. I mostly work on Stihl, echo, husky and jonsred.
Tell those dogs to get a room~! Or a wrestling ring!
It is funny to here them in the background though...........
They wrestle, then lay in the sun, then wrestle, then lay in the shade, then wrestle,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose - Great video man, I had no idea these were easily replaceable like that! #GoodToKnow :)
Thanks Wayne! They go bad often and they are simple to replace.
Hey BC I have same chainsaw were do i get that part thank you.

I can imagine how many chainsaws that were tossed because of that lil part...
Ive pulled a lot of weedeaters and chainsaws out of the dump and fixed them to sell.
you should open a small engine repair shop bc.
I might!
I don't know why these companies use wacky security screws. It just makes life harder for everyday people.
I hate those stupid security screws!!! These were just torx screws with no security nub in them. Torx are on everything now so if you don't have a set, that's a great hint to drop at birthday/Christmas/Father's Day/or buy your wife a set for we birthday and offer to key her keep them in your toolbox.
Lucky you, that was too easy.
They are all easy if you like fixing stuff. even the hard ones!LOL!
Great video. how in the world would you get a down for that ima' up. like
I have a blocked list a mile long. It's still possible to thumbs down even if your blocked. There are a lot of people who come to a fat guys channel to tell me I'm fat. Some go even further and tell me I'm not just fat but disgusting as well. I don't even reply,I just remove the comment and block them. The thumbs down button is the last way they can show me love.
I just don't understand mean people. I have a hard time dealing with the hatefulness today. I think you are good looking and very talented. If someone cannot see the talent and experience you give in your videos, I just don't know what they are thinking.Thank you for posting your videos and sharing the knowledge you have. Bless you, your wife and family. Enjoy the day we have today. I will keep watching.
What torq bit size
I have become an chainsaw and the flywheel is broken, so its a Woodshark 2275 and your Poulan seems identical. Can I replace to it, are those parts compatible ? Sorry for my incorrect English
István Frank yes. They are identical. Wood shark is a poulan saw.
Sorry for the dumb question. I was just have Sthill . An on this shainsaw
was not written Poulan so I was not shure is it the same or just a similar cause of the diferent Type number . Thank you for the info!!
how do i replace a primer bulb on a McCullough chainsaw. its a mac 3516. 35cc/cm.3
where do you go to buy that primer bulb?
I went to my local western auto but you can get them on Amazon or jacks small engines dot com.
great instructions! i did away with the primer on mine
I didnt think you could. It must take a little longer pulling on it with the choke on to start it.
YES IT IS A FEW MORE PULLS, BUT WE DID IT THAT WAY FOR YEARS BEFORE PRIMER BULBS LOL. YOU NEED SOMETHING TO PLUG THE LINE ON THE CARB AND THE HOLE IN THE TANK. THANKFULLY I DONT USE IT THAT OFTEN . I HAVE PULLED THE AIR FILTER AND SPRAYED CAB CLEANER TO START AND WARM UP WHEN I DIDNT FEEL LIKE PULLING THE EXTRA PULL OR TWO.,
yeah the good old days before the EPA srcewed up simple carburetors.
AINT THAT THE TRUTH. IALSO STILL USE THE OLD OIL RATIO AS WELL
mountnman100 done
Wish it were the ryobi i own
Too simple. How do you replace the bulb when the tubing is rotted and has to be replaced as well.
R G you will have to replace the tubing. Easy fix. I'm sure in my small engine playlist, I have a video showing how that's done. If you can't dint anything in my playlist to help, there are two folks whose advice I rely on. Donny boy and 65 Ford. If I wasn't on my phone,I would be more help.
Get to the point it’s hot af
Oh I’ll bet you’re just a joy to be around.
