Homemade ice cream is excellent, but not everyone has the space or the budget for a machine. Fortunately, you can do your own ice cream at home without an ice cream machine.
Banana ice cream, also called nice cream, is 1-ingredient no-churn ice cream. It’s quick, easy, and healthier than most ice cream recipes (since the only ingredient is bananas!). Banana nice cream is naturally vegan (egg-free, dairy-free), grain-free (gluten-free), soy-free, nut-free, and refined sugar-free.

Such great ideas that I posted this to my Noom group. Thx Petra.
PS sliced bananas are important. I once put whole frozen bananas into my Braun food processor instead of my vitamix to see how banana ice cream turned out with a food processor. One shot through the side of my processor's bowl like a missile. Back to frozen pieces in my VitaMix I went.

Thank you so much, Judy! Haha, you made me laugh! Thirds of bananas work well too although I find that sliced bananas are easier on the blades and the motor :)

Question- For coffee flavored, may I use very fine ground espresso beans? Is that what you mean by "espresso powder"? Thanks for your recipes! I DO have a VITAMIX blender, by the way. Love it for all my healthy raw recipes!!!

You make the ice cream so easily. I have a Vitamix and I always need to add liquid and the I get a smoothie and not ice cream. Thank you for demonstrating. I'll try again.

I am glad it was helpful. What ingredients do you typically use?

    • @jag2333

@@nutritionrefinedasmr7025 Thank you for responding. When I tried, I used frozen bananas and strawberries. I blended about 4 frozen bananas first and the blender ( Vitamix 5200 ) which was having a hard time blending. So, I added a little coconut water then I added the strawberries and got a yummy thick smoothie, but not thick ice cream. I think my mistake was adding the coconut water. I only added the water because the blender was struggling.

@@jag2333 I know I am responding late, but just seeing your comment. I don’t like to add any liquid. If the blender is struggling and the tamper doesn’t help, I stop the blender, scrape the sides and push everything down (in case there is an air pocket around the blade), then blend again. If that doesn’t help, I do it again. If it still doesn’t help, I wait for a minute or two to let the ingredients thaw a little and then blend again. It always does the trick. If you want to add liquid, try adding something thick and creamy, such as coconut milk.

Just an FYI, the font you are using does not show up very well and is hard to see all the letters or numbers. perhaps something with a bit more heft.

I wish my hyper sensitive taste buds didn’t taste the bananas in these recipes. 🙃 Not a fan, to put it mildly. The quickest way to ruin a smoothie is to add even a tiny slice of banana. 😂 Yeah, hyper sensitive.

You might try starting with cooked white sweet potato as a base with a bit of something creamy, maybe coconut or nut butter? I totally get the banana thing, it doesn't matter what you drown them in the taste is still there.

Dear Petra, do you consider recipe fails a money waste? Do you buy/use cheap ingredients when experimenting and how can you actually solve this dilemma?
It’s certainly something I struggle with, when a recipe turns out bad and I just think about all the product waste- or at least,- I’ll still eat it but just feels like I ruined such Expensive products!!
