You don't need an expensive pc for cs though...
to get 100+FPS, you need if not expensive then at least moderately costly rig. Depends on region to region though. Here in India, building a PC is an expensive thing for a student.
I bought my laptop for $650 in 2014 and I get 50fps on d2 and 25-30 on other maps.

Joseph, Just because you can't play on it it doesn't mean that the map is terrible. Cobble is a good map popular especially in pro games.
I only play Dust 2 because it gives me the best fps of all maps (and I know it well now.)

I can't believe people are bitching about fps is Dust gets remade. I was running CSGO on a desktop built in fucking 2008 just fine so if you're really struggling to run what is still a SOURCE ENGINE GAME don't blame Valve for wanting to improve their game, blame your 2006 integrated graphics laptop.

But still, it runs on SOURCE. CSGO isn't as demanding as Titanfall II probably, but demanding nonetheless. Sure as hell more demanding than Portal 2, Half-Life 2, L4D2 and other Source engine games, while somewhat keeping the title of a game that's modern, played by a LOT of people and has better optimization than most of other modern games, but it's slowly losing that title, and that's a problem.
Valve is trying to improve the game, but there's the same problem I had in one CS:GO match on Dust II, where my whole team went on B after a lose streak mainly because CT's came behind from T spawn, so I was watching T spawn to protect asses of my teammates and improve the score. But I did not expect that my whole team would just die from the front and nobody will come from the back - they saw me just camping T spawn and got mad.
Wait, ignore that story. Anyways, problem is that Valve forgot about that some CS:GO players use slow PC's, and that even some people with fast PC's target having at least 144fps for their 144hz monitor. Then, these people, even if their PC's can run Nuke on 80fps, still get pissed off about that it's not proper FPS that you can play well with. _Eh, these tryhards..._
It's that some people don't know the definition of "can run" and "can't run", some people think that if they get below 100FPS on the map, then their PC can't run that map. Meanwhile I have the problem in reverse, if I have FPS above 24 on the map then it means that my PC can run it.
Also about that I should just stop whining and upgrade, try getting money in a little random town in Russia these days. Even if I'd get myself a job and work hard, my parents would take the money anyways because we're running low on it.
Architector #4 Csgo really isn't a demanding game, at all. It's improved from HL2 graphics yes but it still is much closer to that level than any game to come out recently. Like I said, my 2008 potato ran the game just fine when I lowered the settings.
Well I'm sorry to hear that, but the point here is that Valve isn't obligated to not make improvements to their game. Most people indeed do have a path to getting a decent or just a little below decent PC for a reasonable price but they hold on to the old bullshit stereotype that it costs thousands of dollars and don't so much as look into it. At that point it's their own fault and yes, I will call them out for whining and acting entitled when that's the case.

Replace 'super rig' with entry level gaming pc... Entry level (~$600) is more than enough to run the game at high FPS (100+), mid range far beyond that at high settings and a 'super rig' or high-end setup for just ridiculous high FPS at highest settings on a 4K display.
Any computer that cannot run CS:GO on at least 30FPS really shouldn't be playing CS:GO and cannot be worth more than $50 in parts on the second hand market...

Dust 2 was playable in the game on March 13, 2001 according to the wiki, in version 1.1
well that is a lie as 1.6 was on steam in November of 2000... at this point the map d2 was in the game. It was the first map i played.
I think in certain pro games a new map shall be played that *nobody knows*. if a way to balance it is found, this would make pro games much more interesting as teams are forced to find callout names. After all, if a real counter-terrorist team is called in would they know the area by heart and immediately know what their squadmates mean by "cat"? This would mix things up in a way never seen before, but it always brings back the balance issue. Valve would have to work overtime on keeping it balanced for both sides. Which we know they don't like doing.

Getindor The game is still the same at it's core, my old as fuck PC which I got from my brother 8 years ago could handle CS:GO at a very decent FPS. You don't need a great gaming PC to run it at 100+ fps, honestly..
Evjen I agree that you don't need monster PC for CSGO (it's possible to build new for $400), but by Philip's count even on the same maps CSGO's performance was lowered by 20% over last 2 years because of hitbubbles, HRTF, etc.
Honestly if you can't hit 60 FPS on a 2012 game just play ur phone. Idk why people are so mad about all these re makes. The color palletes, visibility, and better textures feel fresh and new while still retaining all the old map layouts to keep it familiar. Why is CS go's community so bad? Be happy that valve wants to keep this game alive and not abandon it for a yearly sequel after dropping a 50 dollar season pass on it. I also look forward to what kind of anti cheat improvements come this year as valve said they would like to fix that.
CS is in a category of games that requires well above 60 FPS to play. Unless you want to be at a huge disadvantage and be stuck far below your actual skill level. Games like quake, unreal, cs, all require hundreds of FPS to play at any enjoyable level. Go lock your FPS to 60 and tell us all how it's fine.

GameSupport CS was earlier specially designed to run well on low devices. If they rework every map they fuck with everyones FPS again and some Players maybe stop playing the game

abc def well, it's definitely possible. There (obviously) are many shared assets. And the new references to an updated Dust2 in the game files are linked to the directive "hr_dust". Not "hr_dust2".

nothing bad with remaking the maps, it's just that the optimization is shit. it wasn't so bad with inferno, but nuke was absolute trash. they made progress with optimization on inferno, so maybe they'll do it with dust too. and dust needed a remake, it got really stale already.

stop complaining ffs, i'm happy that russians with their shitty pc's won't be able to play dust 2, the RU servers might just turn Into EUN because 50% of russians will get sub-60 fps whilst i'm getting 200+ max settings 1728x1080 (highest 16:10 res for 1920x1080) with my 6600k and 1060 which is only like an 800€ pc if you don't Care about aesthetics and fancy aios like me. Now i'll get less cyka blyat and more fitta on the EUN (RU) servers :D
you can get 200 fps on cs on 1080p for half that price. I have a 6700k and 1070 on my main desktop, but my old one is a fx8350+670 from years ago and it runs at locked 144fps (cause 144hz monitor) at 1080p even with AA on max. If people are having sub 60fps on this game, they must have cpu's worse than a pentium 4 or running the game on integrated cards, cause thats pretty much the only explanation.
Every source game runs great even on systems that sucked 5 years ago, theres no reason for people to be complaining for a loss of 5fps, if they are that serious about the game and fps, maybe spend money on upgrades instead of other stuff. The most ironic thing is that most of them have expensive skins.

You also have to consider that depending on the map more people are more inclined to watch regardless of teams etc. some people just watch the major for the drops. So you could assume that map = more views. I know this might not seem like a huge fact but personally this last tournament I've notice more people viewing on certain maps other than the final match up.
I don't even play CS:GO regularly (once a month maybe), but I'm so engaged in your videos! I think that I've been watching them for at least a year now. I doubt that would happen, considering it would split the matchmaking further up. It would mean adding another matchmaking pool which would probably 50/50 split the current active map pool because many people with older pc's want the higher framerate of the old maps, and/or simply prefer or are nostalgic about the old versions. (I am talking about competitive here)
This could have multiple implications, such as longer queuing time, less players in each game in casual modes(might be a good thing actually), higher cost for valve because of unused servers.
So, no it would actually not be so good.
Ofcourse nothing of this is going to stop 3rd parties from creating their own custom servers on the old maps.

I agree they probably won't have the older versions of the maps, but I'd think for Dust II they might make an exception, that being "hey, we know how many people love the way this map is already, let's make a remake and have it as an option for players to try out and if they don't like it, we'll just return to the old version"
I'd like to see them open it up for like a month or even longer of testing to get feedback from players to see what they might be able to improve or if it's generally seen that the older map is preferred then they can just switch it back.

How would I analyze a setup to determine what is and isn't strong against? Without going through a lot of trial and error in pugs or scrims to find out.

Please can someone explain, if now that Dust2 isnt in the Active Map Pool do we still get ELO points for playing on Dust2 in Competitive MM? I know that you can play Hostage maps for example competitve and get uprank, but what about Dust2 now?
i am actually fucking irritated at Valve.... Don't they know that every single time they release an updates map, the FPS gets worse and worse? Nuke is virtually unplayable, Inferno is playable but annoying when you have 100 fps and then it drops down to 60 every 30 seconds. Dust 2 was a good map that didn't need updating.

+*moDest* It's a fucking Source engine game. My 60 dollar 2GB graphics card can run Nuke and Inferno just fine Also, you can adjust the graphics settings if it's really that bad. Set most of them to medium or some to low, it won't make that big a difference.
I am totally for this change, it was always either dust 2 or that other Sandy one I can't remember the name of. Allowing newer maps (relative to dust 2) to shine in the spotlight.

There's actually a workshop revamp of assault that follow thew New Nuke aesthetic, which actually makes it easier for CTs to get into the actual warehouse. It's believed it could be in a future operation, potentially under a different name.
Is there a specific name to search on the workshop?
I think it actually is just named after how the developer named the project. I can't remember, I have to find it again.

I'm surprised Philip didn't talk about the opportunities the divided reserve pool could bring, as FMPONE is working on a new map. I believe Valve will be adding new maps to the hostage and reserve pools in the near future, it's about time they do.

im playing cs since 2007 and when I made the switch to go from 1.6 I never played dust 2 competitively for some reason only if my friends wanted it( which was 5% of the time anyways) I dont know why but I just didnt maybe because of how much ive played it over the years or something theres just some stuff for me I can nit explain my self

Well. Dust2 = CS? Not really imo. I remember the days de_dust, de_aztec, siege, militia.. they were the main maps. I would rather see Valve focus on these oldschool maps instead of remaking good ones or creating trash like these new maps :/

If I were at Valve, I would add that you can choose which version of the dust map you want to play because some of the players have bad computers so they can play too!
I just worry about my fps when they remake it :/ I had up to 120 on inferno but after the remake only like 70-80 ;-;

I don't really think moving dust2 to a poll of it's own was supposed to get it less played, but instead get the other maps more played by people who actually don't want to play dust2 in between the other maps. As you said, casual games used to be a switching between dust2 and wichever other map, that after the no repeat update, before the update dust2 got picked up so much that it was common to play it 4 times in a row before people actually picked up a different map.
So at least now people who want to play dust2 can play dust2 all day long without forcing people who want to learn other maps to play dust2 all the time.

I know this isn't a map making video but I have two questions, first, didn't 3kliks say he was working on a new map recently? And second, I also make maps but on one of them, when I sign in on my new gaming PC a giant error box shows up in the middle of the map, while on my laptop it isn't there, does anyone know why?
I'm wondering if maybe they are changing the ranking system aswell, I've been playing only Dust for the last two weeks, and did not get ranked up. In the contrary even, I won the last 4 games I've played, then lsot 1 game and got deranked from Legendary Eagle to DMG. I dont get the system...
