Just when we thought we could relax and slow down a little... our phone started ringing with more rescue calls than we could handle! 82 degrees, sunshine, and perfect weather made it hard to believe that it is already November here in San Diego, and the bees are still buzzing!
Join Jeff on 4 live beehive rescues where he managed to go suitless the WHOLE DAY, but not without getting stung! Test your queen spotting skills and listen as Jeff reveals how he approaches a hive rescue, and how he knows when it's safe to go suitless.
These bees were rescued and relocated to our beekeeper friends in Bonsall, CA.

The joy of those bees when they find the box - they were living in the bee equivalent of a two-man tent for a family of five, and suddenly there's a full size house put down in front of them and you're handing over the keys for free. Imagine if we took the same attitude to homeless humans!

Love sugar! 😂 Do the combs you pull go with the bees to their new home? Miss seeing Mrs. Bee Rescue with you. 😊

Lad, you really need a bee vac. It's so much quicker and more reliable for getting the bees safely in a box, and you don't have to worry about anyone getting trapped under a piece of comb.

Places that you routinely have to remove swarms and hives from, you need to make an arrangement with the landowner to mount a swarm trap box there. Then instead of having to remove hives from valve boxes and whatever, they can just call you when the bees move into the vacant housing you've set up for them.

Have you considered putting swarm traps near where these reoccuring swarms tend to happen? My maybe bee lining to try and locate the original colonies that these swarms are coming off of?

Please wear eye protection when drilling into a stucco wall. 😊 It only takes a small flying chunk……

I’m curious how the honey tastes. Can you taste certain flavors?

13:39 stop waving her at the camera, and put her in the clip NOW, before she injures herself.

Your technique is so very different than what I am used to. Interesting though! I wonder why you don't use a bee vacuum? Or bring coolers to put the comb and brood in??? I'm confused, but I can appreciate that you get the queen so you are saving the queen and using a box to capture some of the bees to save them. WHAT are you putting the comb in??? Must be a secret you keep?

I'm surprised that you don't carry nucs so you can frame up comb.

The bees will try to defend themselves from the ants the same as from any other thief trying to steal their honey. They don't always succeed.
