The outer case was rusted badly so it looks like it was wet at some point. It's surprising the component damage and corrosion was not worse. Looks like the owner doesn't realise water and electricity are not compatible ;-)

Might be it was installed in humid area or the sealing rubber had some issues which was causing to enter water in car body
Because its corrosion wss on cover facing to car body and it wss iron sheet
Its top side was beautiful with attractive nickel plated design sheets

Would you rather test with a sine wave?

I use sine wave
Square wave and triangular waves
To see amplifier linearity
Then apply different frequency to check its band filters

might be it was installed in car body having humid area, might be any sealing rubber is leaky or some similar sonario, its bottom cover was simple iron plate, it is corrosion friendly in humid area
