I love your little black kitty. They are often the last to be adopted according to shelter stats (the whole witches familiar nonsense, methinks!). I have 2 myself, boys named Sable and Eric. They are among the great loves of my life.
🥹 they are the sweetest, smartest kitties I’ve ever had. And they always found their way to me. I’ve never had to properly adopt lol. It feels like they choose me, not the other way around 😅 bossy creatures.
I loved your layouts and how the previous one influenced the next, so lyrical. I appreciate artists seeing and utilizing the “base,” the stuff left over after we use the item we initially purchased. One of my favorite things to repurpose made an appearance in your first spread and I was sooo pleased. Strapping tape, the under appreciated workhorse of the shipping industry! I have yards+ of used strapping tape that I have harvested from boxes and I use it regularly in my work. Those lovely, straggly strings, yum 😊
Your timing is spot on for me! I’ve been looking at my collected basket of everyday ephemera and last week I kept a cereal box for the journal cover. She’s gonna be a big’un! Now you’ve given me so ideas beyond just sticking it together. It will be fun to experiment without worry of messing up something precious. 😊 Thx for sharing!
I’m so glad that you made this video. It was really inspiring for me. I’m really “light” on instruction in art and chicken to try different things because the techniques seem so intimidating. Your ideas and demonstrations were very helpful. I’ll definitely try your techniques. Thank you so much!
I’m a simple crafter and try to share ideas that are welcoming to everyone. It makes me so happy that you feel that I gave that to you today! I hope you share your art with us!
Modern ephemera are more easy to find than vintage unless like vintage style or printables. I do collects lots of packaging, leaflets and flyers they are too nice to be thrown away. I came across home styling magazine and thought I can use them in my art journalling. The colours tend to be bright in contrast to muted, fade vintage ephemera. I have seen several videos on how to grunge up modern ephemera to add in journal all in effort to reduce waste. I do mix modern with vintage style. People still collect vintage advertisements. What is modern now will one day seen as old fashioned in many years to come.

I've never thought of using a paper clip within the collage. I've only seen it used on the outer edges.
Gotta get creative when using limited supplies!
Great video, thanks!
