One thing I wish this game had was the appearance of the characters changing when we reach certain level thresholds/tiers. Would be pretty dam cool imo
As good as Smokey is, I don't think he's as pivotal as you make of him. Hewynn is also an amazing healer, especially when paired with Rowan as he's also energy hungry, that could absolutely replace Smokey. Also if you're using Cecia early on I'd say Rowan is more important than Smokie, as Cecia is so reliant on Rowan's energy potion to get her ult up quickly. The core of Thoran, Cecia and Rowan will get you very far, the last 2 slots are flexible. You definitely want a second healer as Rowan's healing isn't the best, so either Smokey or Hewynn are ideal but other choices can also work. You than probably want a second tank if you're deficit pushing, which you should be. Antandra is amazing for this role. The only problem with this setup is 0 faction synergy. Eventually though your team will get tanky enough that you can afford to replace Rowan and get some faction synergy in there while still surviving long enough to get your ults off. At that point the Mauler option: Smokey, Antandra and Koko, alongside Thoran and Cecia, is indeed amazing. However if you didn't reroll for Thoran and still don't have him than a Wilder setup with Granny(replacing Thoran) and Hewynn(replacing Smokey) is also viable. The biggest problem with this setup is again faction synergy, as the other Wilder heroes are either meh(Lyca, Bryon) or require mythic+ to unlock(basically the Eironn squad), and without Thoran getting 3 Graveborns is questionable to say the least. In fact I'd say this setup actually works incredibly well with Florabelle if you got at least a few copies for most people wouldn't as Cecia is much easier to mythic+ than her.
This video is more helpful than you think. I will never read any of the units' skills or play them manually and examine what they do. It's AFK all the way for me. I assume I'm not the only one doing this. You talking about these units help me so much. Thanks.
Um huh you need to read so you can team build better I read all the skill of the characters I unlocked to see all my future team comps and I have a lot even one with an extra 20% damage reduction paired with Kokos

@@MrQwertyman111 you don't necessarily need them, you can still fight any +10-+15 lvl enemies with a good team. Above without the smokey-koko-antandra trio (+ cecia but everyone have her) will need tons of trials. Antandra is an amazing tank instead of thoran, same for the old granny with a flower shield, or lucius is kinda ok too. rowan+hewynn do an incredible job as support (or even rowan alone, but hewynn alone early is kinda to slow to cast). For dps you have cecia, alone she is already great, can be paired with odie, lyca or viperian for example if need more damage. Brutus is really for early/mid cheese comp only when no tanks can save you. and you have many other characters really good too, like vala, igor, etc...
I play a three healer stall comp at the moment, 250k deficit in the 800th. The mauler stuff won't help you later. Keep all healers on your wishlist especially Hewynn.
I do know that Smokey and Brutus have formation difficulties. Where Antandra does it better than Brutus. Wish Brutus had a 2 tile AOE spin. The Animation hitbox betrays the output.
Would you be willing to do a video on carries you can transition into for the mid-late game? I imagine Cecia is just for the early game pushes, but im not sure which carries to invest in now that i have her at Mythic+.

As someone who hasn't invested in Cecia* I gotta say Bruce feels pretty useless in the Meta Mauler Comp (He was my first S-tier pull so I've tried him early and periodically through most of 300 AFK Strages). Without Cecia's investment I assume Mr. Carlyle isn't strong enough to pick up the tanking role once Bruce dies, so you're left with a handicapped team. *because another top creator argued she's not really used on Dream Realm/PVP late game)
im at afk stage 500+ i dont have a brutus and a smokey.. lols.. talk about MUST HAVE characters.. really? dont think so.. any team/strategy can work as long as you have the right pieces for it, there is NO MUST HAVE character..
Smokey is SO good. His ability to constantly heal in an AOE...is just...game-changing. I've cleared content that I've had NO right to clear, just because Smokey keeps everyone alive. Put him on your wishlist, do whatever you can to get him. It will change things for you.
The only guy both my accounts are missing is Brutus. I have one account that is missing Rowan, but the other one has him and all the others on this list. The issue I am having is Thoran/Antandra/Lucius (who is now legendary) are all getting wiped before I can get Cecia to call Carlysle. Even if she does get him out, it is too late because my front line is gone. I have tried all sorts of combinations: Antandra/Koko/Odie/Lucius Thoran/Koko/Odie/Lucius Rowan/Koko/Odie/Lucius Smokey Cecia None of it works. This game seems set up to make you hit a wall no matter what, where your only option is to wait to collect more resources or buy them. That is one thing this game really misses on. There should be some way to farm up these resources. Even if it is minimal gains, at least you have a way of getting them rather than just not playing the game for a couple of hours while you wait for your AFK haul to recharge. This team is stalling out at about 250 AFK challenge, and can't beat the level 100 campaign mode enemies. I've gotten through at least level 10 of all the tower stages. A lot of my teams are incomplete, like one team has no healer, one team has no tank. Even so, I've managed to clear level 10 or better on all of them. Dream Land I can beat the first level enemy with no problem. I have cleared the second level one a few times. The third level one is not going well for me at this time.
The game has been raining copies of Thoran and Rowan on me. Been pretty lucky so far considering I'm just fumbling around killing stuff. Koko ftw, she probably deserves a higher placing. She's pretty tanky as well.
My Brutus is mythic+ and I am fine Brutus is part of my main team I'm f2ps and I'm 450 in afk stages and I don't use Koko my team without Koko is waaaay more useful plus I only have 1 copy over 500 pulls and never got another

I have been running Thoran, Cecia, Viperian, Hewynn n Lyca, so far i havent had issues in any content, had luck getting multiple copies of them so far, working on Koko atm in case i need to provide more def, also a tip if you want a x character or copie make sure u place it on wish list otherwise u wont get them.
Hey volkin, love your content. I'm 9 days into the game f2p, currently afk lvl 349, lvl 98/97 setup but really struggling... Cleared all the way up to dark forest lvl 7 which I need 350 afk for and I just can't do it... My team power is like 98k and I'm running antandra, cecia, rowan, smokie and odie/Koko. Rowan is mythic, smokie epic and rest legendary... I can't progress further... Tempted to spend money but really don't want to however I do want to progress quicker... If I do spend what's the best bang for buck? Or do I just wait 1-2 days to level up a bit more.
See usually my luck is awful but I got smokey almost immediately. So originally I had thought he was something everyone got regularly. I found out later he is kinda a rare pull. So It kinda makes me happy to know I got some good luck this time around
Hey Volkin can you try this team? It has been working well for me and I think it's very easy to build for everyone (i'll explain why later xD) It is Thoran, Cecia, Rowan, Marilee, Korin/Tamesia. 3+2 faction bonus. Thoran is the best tank, Cecia is given for free + can be farmed in arena, Rowan is good even at single copy and can be obtained from the 7day box, Marilee and Korin are just A-rarity characters and very very good on dream bosses so everyone should build them anyway. Tamesia is good in dream world too and usually when I cant beat the stage with the previous team, swapping Korin with Tamesia is enought to disrupt the enemies. Korin so underrated, the shields he place are huge + when thoran dies he gets the aggro, thoran revives and korin use the shielding dash which makes him loose the aggro and thoran goes back to be the tanking dude. Marilee is just a dps which should be ascended at higher levels than other characters (for dream bosses) and I also like that her ult has a cheap cost and makes her jump around (forcing melee characters to loose time walking up to her) Bonus tip: when there is a valla on the enemy team just put korin so that he has the mark, your backline will be thankful
After 15 days or how long its been since release still dont get why ppl said Thoran its a must have ? In story and afk never seen one in reports... People use Antandra or Brutus... agree with rowan and brutus they are needed at 1 copy
It's because they don't have him M+ and lvl 111 when his ult goes off even if he dies or get cc. M+ gives 3 lives is y he #2 top units. He does the most damage as a tank.
On my first account I have been using thoran cecia, then triple lightbringer lucius rowan and the horse chick who runs through enemies, I can't remember how far I pushed first day but I'm almost certain it was lower than 100, and now on day 9 or 10 its only at 384 or something. My first day with new account with smokey brutus antandra cecia and odie/koko made it all the way to 150... if you don't have smokey i would definitely advise starting a new acc just to see how easy it is.

I would like team comps for mid and late game! I feel like idk wtf I'm doing when it comes to harder things, and I just die haha. Also I got my Smokey, but like any other S rank I want, I don't get.
Smokey is definitely a great early choice to invest in for the first couple hundred stages which most players will be on for the first one to two months. Eventually Smokey will be relegated to being primarily used in the King Croaker dream realm and Mythic+ Hewynn and Supreme+ Damian will take over for everything else healing related.
Im at afk 255 and even though im at 350k power, I have seen 50k players clear the same stage with smokey. He's like the Bennett (from Genshin) of AFK Journey.
Hi Volkin! I have a question, do you know or have any idea if there will be a summons event anytime soon? Like you get rewards for doing x number of summons, stuff like that, because I've been saving my summoning tickets and diamonds for something like that but if you tell me there won't be an event like that in the near future then I'll just use my summons. Idk if anyone else did this but for the guaranteed epic at 30 pulls (starts at 10) i just put smokey as the only S-tier and A-tier characters that i want the most in the other 4 slots to guarantee the smokey as i got the rowen on my 30th.

There seems to be some enemies that specifically targets and interrupts Smokey even if it is in the middle of the group. Have you notice this behavior? Is there a mechanic to allow for targetting a specific unit or healers? (though target was just backline/farthest or closest)

Love odie execute is so good with the triple support set up. Just eat everything n get smokey to thet toxic mist faster.

Hi. I have a chest and can pick a 2nd Smokey or 1st Thoran. What would you recomend. I do have brutus, but no undead tank for the tower.

On my first account I have been using thoran cecia, then triple lightbringer lucius rowan and the horse chick who runs through enemies, I can't remember how far I pushed first day but I'm almost certain it was lower than 100, and now on day 9 or 10 its only at 384 or something.
My first day with new account with smokey brutus antandra cecia and odie/koko made it all the way to 150... if you don't have smokey i would definitely advise starting a new acc just to see how easy it is.

I would like team comps for mid and late game! I feel like idk wtf I'm doing when it comes to harder things, and I just die haha. Also I got my Smokey, but like any other S rank I want, I don't get.

I have both Smokey and Rowan and just the two of them together makes your team ALMOST invincible.

Smokey is definitely a great early choice to invest in for the first couple hundred stages which most players will be on for the first one to two months. Eventually Smokey will be relegated to being primarily used in the King Croaker dream realm and Mythic+ Hewynn and Supreme+ Damian will take over for everything else healing related.
Im at afk 255 and even though im at 350k power, I have seen 50k players clear the same stage with smokey. He's like the Bennett (from Genshin) of AFK Journey.
Hi Volkin! I have a question, do you know or have any idea if there will be a summons event anytime soon? Like you get rewards for doing x number of summons, stuff like that, because I've been saving my summoning tickets and diamonds for something like that but if you tell me there won't be an event like that in the near future then I'll just use my summons.

Idk if anyone else did this but for the guaranteed epic at 30 pulls (starts at 10) i just put smokey as the only S-tier and A-tier characters that i want the most in the other 4 slots to guarantee the smokey as i got the rowen on my 30th.
Immediately blessed to have my first S-Rank from 7day Login be Smokey, his addition to my team gave alot of push on prog!

Koko is very good if you play with tohe Maulers. I use smokey with koko and of Cecilia, Antandra, Brutus
Funny how maulers went from worst to best faction essentially compared to afk arena
Brutus, Koko and Smokey are indeed part of my team. 😎 Still no Rowan because I'm not using my selection chest quite yet. No Thoran either.
I don't have a single Brutus and Thoran yet, and I have around 30k diamonds saved up. Problem is that I plan to save it for the next rate up banner, so now I'm conflicted lol.

There seems to be some enemies that specifically targets and interrupts Smokey even if it is in the middle of the group. Have you notice this behavior? Is there a mechanic to allow for targetting a specific unit or healers? (though target was just backline/farthest or closest)
In afk stages there’s this stone rouges that will auto atk healers no matter what. 😅
Is smokey still worth using if hes just epic over, legendary/legendary+ i feel like i should be a lot farther than i am with my team. But i get smoked

Smokey shines at m+ but his attack and haste buff still good at lower copies. Heals are weak too until M+. Even better at S+ for 30% more heals.
