That's what disappointed me about sor3. Sor2 had some good cracking sound effects. In sor3, most of the hits sounded like air bags popping, or...hard slapping a marble floor under 2 inches of water, or...kinda hard to describe, but still disappointing.

An important note about the bosses is that they don't have invincibility frames, they have "armor." They still take damage but they won't be interrupted, they will pause for a single frame when hit however. Some normal enemies have armor as well like big ben and the biker women. Their armor is different as they have a hit limit before it breaks. The only enemies with true invincible frames are the Ravens or Shiva when they are blocking.
Glad to see that you've on the case after the patch came out. Kudos for surviving past the 23:43 mark, and bonus points for how you dealt with the Commish, Stage 6 Shiva, and the old-school Shiva and Mr. X combo.
Glad he is buffed. Always liked his animations the best. Seems really brutal on hits.Also like his double kick combo. I am glad he feels like less of a handicap to play
Axrl feels much better to play. The game feels easier to get through which sometimes makes me wish it was harder. Like kinda having the before patxh game but with fixed hitboxes and things. But still this patch somehow made the game more fun to play which is crucial and perhaps this patch is more pf what the devs originally intended for the game anyway. Outstanding team behins this great and now timeless game.
This makes me wonder if they would add a harder difficulty setting than Mania since a lot of devs seem to do that(adding harder difficulties after launch).
@@masterlee1988 Exactly what I thought about. I am not at all against it. Keeping giving players more to reach for and overcome. They could make a campaign where there are more enemies and more dangerous ones show up early. Imagine a mode where specials take life like in SOR 2😅 or a mode where there are no specials.

Then they could bring back Skate and Dr Zan who were left out of the game's history. And make Max and Shiva playable that are already part of the story and Skate and Dr Zan that in this case could enter the game's history after creating an expansion for SOR4. Roo and Ash could enter the bonus stage. In other words: 2 more arcades could be added in the expansion of the game's story to unlock these 2 characters. I think it would be very interesting!!!
Appreciate for developer to buff my main Axel, finally he's a decent character. From speed buff, life recovery buff, also now I can do OTG with grand upper and ground special move. The only thing I hate about this new patch is developer tone down TOO MUCH to almost all enemies and bosses, because beat 'em up game is all about unfair enemy, except the "Big Ben wave" I really like it
After a number of practices on stage select throughout, i was able to complete mania with every character at least once. Some really fun and others were grudging at best. Keep at the practice and learn the best positioning with the different characters and you will get it.
You should be able to beat Mania with the balance patch now, it's much easier than before the patch, and I beat Mania before the patch even in Arcade mode as well.
@@masterlee1988 definitely right. I did it before thr patch as well with all the characters. A few weren't fun but in the end it was a nice to have done it. After not playing for a month or so, the patch happened and then i came back and beat it on arcade again with far less difficulty.
@@rubensmith1300 Yep, that's just how it is. To me the game only has a real challenge on the last stage due to some changes in the 2nd half, but even Mania is much more doable now than than ever before, even with Axel.
Considering everybody could run in SoR3 (and we all got used to doing it in the fan remake too) no longer having that for this game still feels a bit weird.
First thing I did with this patch was go through Mania with Axel. Old patch took me like a zillion tries with him, did it first try with the new patch. Biggest difference is just that he recovers green health decently now when before he was just terrible at getting his own HP back. I will say, kind of miss that super armor on the Big Ben's. They were actually EASIER with the super armor on their charge attack because you could just time your defense special and then punch them mercilessly from behind once they finished the move.
Adam from SOR1 needed no improvement. In fact, they made him unbalanced after this patch. On the other hand, the SOR3 Skate was on point and now it sucks in this patch.
Man is it me or the enemies on PC are way more aggressive than console ? Like on the elevator stage as it starts I'm insta shot by the Golds and Silver. All 3 at the same time. It almost looks like that enemies pause for a bit on console instead of constantly pushing towards you. I keep seeing these walk through vids , some of them I literally copy the same strategy but I keep failing or not having the same results cause of enemy behavior . Great gameplay as always. I main Axel - personal preference and cause he's the more challenging of the sor 4 characters - and this was very pleasant to watch

I never even beat the final area because how crazy hard it got. I love they kept that. I just got SoR4 like 5 days ago. Somehow never heard of a new release til now. I played through on normal on the story and OMG the last stage was kicking my ass. Took me like 10 attempts. Not taking me too long to get the hang of it. Just gotta learn enemy behavior and spawns. I played River City Girls as my most recent beat em up. Very good game with very interesting combo system. More move options but that's due to the 2 main girls and then 2 extra characters you unlock later. I prefer the higher difficulty like in SoR. But they need more stages now. 12 isn't much now a days.
It's important to note that his grandupper can be interrupted by his special midway, thus giving them a few more hits and longer reach. Also with the debuff to the commish's armor Axel can do his forward special right through it. The only way to describe that feeling is magical.

So for a wanna be new Axel player who's A ranked the first few Mania stages with Floyd and Blaze and can't seem to make headway with the icon of SoR, what are Axel's strengths? Far as I can tell, Grand Upper only really has i-frames on ths windup, and the follow through is unsafe. His speed and reach seem liabilities. Good basic combo though, and his neutral special seems good (Not horrible, not great)
I can understand on Stage 7 since they are constantly getting in your way, but on Stage 2 it doesn't make as much sense since he's the boss and should attack a bit quicker than that.
I think they also changed the final boss fight with both of the Y twins to where if one of them gets in the mecha, that same twin gets all of his/her health back
I never knew people were struggling with Diva that bad.. for her to get nerfed so ridiculously. The game is way to fucking easy now all around. Mania took me awhile to beat in the past. Now, first try on the patch. I have a deathless run with my main Cherry. What does that say. It's not a challenge anymore. Yes I feel they could have nerfed bosses and stuff for like easy and normal difficulty.. but keep the bosses the same or harder on hard and mania. I will say the big ben section and Ms y battle was a big approvement tho. The twins actually feel like final bosses. Outside of that I'm not feeling all the nerfs to the enemies. I feel like I get away with murder now.
In fact, they exaggerate the improvement they made at Cherry Hunter. She already has a race and making the special invincible blitz was a big mistake. Because now you just have to run from side to side to hit the villains several times. For example, I considered her to be one of the worst, I hardly played with her and after the patch, without any training, right away, I'm already playing better with her than with the other characters I worked on to improve myself. They exaggerated this improvement that they made in it. Was good most of the improvements they've made to Cherry Hunter. But this one of the invincible special blitz was too much. Especially because this special does not consume energy and is still easy to perform because it is the only one of the 5 that has a race. They shoulding eliminate that invincibility. And come back with Skate and Shiva from SOR3 before being nerfed. Skate was not overly strong like Cherry is now. Before he was at the right point. Now it sucks. And Shiva was strong because he has a lot of disadvantages compared to the other characters. Since he cannot take advantage of the weapons we found on the floor during the game.
She was one of the hardest bosses in the game imo, but apparently a friend of mine who plays way less of these types of games thought she was really straightforward

The super specific way you have to play to avoid getting cheap shot by random jabs, the constant need to take on more green health to keep from losing your green health to a cheap shot, how AI manipulation is more important than actually knowing how to use your character, the combo score system just... In general... Etc, etc.
You're literally describing every SoR in the series, kid. If you hug the wall, the AI won't come out. Every enemy type has distinct attack(s) that you have to play around. Maybe find an easier game, like SpongeBob Adventures or something IDK.

There are a few tweaks, like donovans only pick up pipes now, galsias only pick up the knives, but henchmen have the same moves like the jump kicks, slides, jabs etc.

The series did keep slightly lowering that agility as it went along to be fair, to the point he was the power character by SoR3. He's supposed to be more about technique than agility, which roughly translates here to "good lord, those combos."

Difficulty is a joke now, they shot themselves in the foot as there's little reason to replay the game. Whereas before, challenges at higher difficulties gave players something to aim for at least. Another example of why you don't let a vocal subset of your player base convince you to pull apart your game; I doubt most of those complainers even play anymore either.
@@View619 fighting multiple enemies at once is the challenge. Multitasking. A little armor is fine, but before the patch, the armor was fucking annoying. What made mania so hard on SOR2 was the massively multiplied enemies, that were more aggressive, and so fast it looked like they did 5 tons of cocaine. SOR4 mania feels more like another standard difficulty, though some stages do feel bat shit crazy.
I still think Axel should have a run or dash at least, him trying to carry combos into the next part of the map feels like a chore more than anything lol

This mania level is beyond ridiculous, i never finished the game on that level. I died on stage 10, played as floyd.

Good buffs, but to much nerf for enemies, imh. Diva is so easy now...
She was super broken before though. As the first boss, she should be a bit easier especially because she blitzes you with extra attackers.

If you are playing story mode the lives don't stack. They only stack if you play in arcade mode.

This video really does exemplify everything I hate about SoR4. The super specific way you have to play to avoid getting cheap shot by random jabs, the constant need to take on more green health to keep from losing your green health to a cheap shot, how AI manipulation is more important than actually knowing how to use your character, the combo score system just... In general... Etc, etc.
You're literally describing every SoR in the series, kid. If you hug the wall, the AI won't come out. Every enemy type has distinct attack(s) that you have to play around. Maybe find an easier game, like SpongeBob Adventures or something IDK.

@@YourIdeologyIsDelusional No, it isn't. I've played every single one on their native consoles and have beat all of them. Go back and play them, the AI literally almost identical in most parts. There are a few tweaks, like donovans only pick up pipes now, galsias only pick up the knives, but henchmen have the same moves like the jump kicks, slides, jabs etc.

The series did keep slightly lowering that agility as it went along to be fair, to the point he was the power character by SoR3. He's supposed to be more about technique than agility, which roughly translates here to "good lord, those combos."

@@OhNoTheFace Giving enemies a means of not just getting run over mercilessly was interesting, yes. Unless you're in the crowd that prefers to just run through everything the same way with little variation? You must love that things like Big Ben's flame attack are irrelevant now.
Difficulty is a joke now, they shot themselves in the foot as there's little reason to replay the game. Whereas before, challenges at higher difficulties gave players something to aim for at least.
Another example of why you don't let a vocal subset of your player base convince you to pull apart your game; I doubt most of those complainers even play anymore either.

@@View619 fighting multiple enemies at once is the challenge. Multitasking. A little armor is fine, but before the patch, the armor was fucking annoying. What made mania so hard on SOR2 was the massively multiplied enemies, that were more aggressive, and so fast it looked like they did 5 tons of cocaine. SOR4 mania feels more like another standard difficulty, though some stages do feel bat shit crazy.
