Wow thank you for this, Oxtail are so expensive in the USA and my family love them, now I will try this and also the Turkey neck curry instead of Goat. So glad I found this channel.
I just brought some Grace Oxtail Sauce in the bottle today I start to get Turkey Neck raise on on that in Alabama but I Live Jamaicans Food but God daughter is Jamaican just Visiting Jamaican in May if this Of 2022 in I Love it's there the People's is so Nice and me in my Family's stayed at the Montego Bay for 6 Day went on the Plane , but will be going back in November on a Cruise for Thanksgiving if the Lord Will and the Foods was Delicious at the Hotel and the Cruise, 2time going on the Ship in I Love it
lol i was just browsing on youtube for something else and i showing my dad a jamaican singer (aj brown) his favorite and when i somehow clicked on this video my dad was laughing at the name and noticed you used turkey neck instead of oxtail if you cant afford it great video it gave my mom more ideas she was shockeed also thanks:)
@focusedonfishing...I have never seen oxtail cheaper than 4.99/lb and that is on sale. Broad beans are aka butter beans. You should be able to find them canned in any grocery style isle under any brand...Goya carries them if you can't find Grace. Scotch bonnet isn't substitute-able bc no other pepper has it's flavour. You really don't need the meat/fish sauce-use browning and Lawry's seasoning salt and let everything simmer. You will get the same basic flavour.
Love oxtails. I want to know how to make them 100 different way's. And I love the fact that our people in the Islands use natural herbs and vegetables to season their food..It's much healthier for us to use the same techniques here in U.S.A.. I started using palm-oil from Ghana-instead of the processed oil i.e.Crisco etc. Also East Afrakan Ghee-butter is great too.
Hah my PEOPLE sure know how to cook while watching the video, I could smell the Oxtails, now you know that is well prepared. I must go up on Utica Ave and find me some tails ,TODAY, Ya'digg? !?!
Good recipe. What can you use if you don't have the Grace Browning? For mine, I brown the oxtail, then put in chopped carrot, onions, celery and minced tomato paste, garlic, ginger and 2 bayleaves before covering with stock&water and simmering for a few hours. Your recipe is much quicker and won't wash out the colours.. thanks ladies! Could see myself at your kitchen table right now.
"i jus 'flick' it ova...an jus keep on 'flickking' it" lol..lol...she stole my dish...i'm the one who invented the term 'ghetto oxtail' i cook it all the time
is not poor people alone cook that I am a million air and I cook it all the time chicken back foot I no we're I am coming from belvedere, red hills, now queens New York love my Jamaica people
I don't know if ghetto is the appropriate term as far as how I understand what ghetto is. Using all those fresh vegetables wouldn't always be accesable for people living in the ghetto or the seasonings and spices for the complete dish. Stewed turkey necks is what it is.
Dee Mari I was thinking the same thing. "ghetto" just sounds like an unrefined pot of "whatever" slopped together, and it takes away from the professionalism of the show. Don't call it an oxtail if it's not an oxtail. Huge difference between a bird and a bull. smh
That was way too much thyme!!!... Ive been cooking this since 15 years ago and they just finding out now?.chups? And why it got to be ghetto? Its just turkey necks..its healthy meat... And Jamaican don't flip no bowl..
I know some folk's can't cook but you don't like African American oxtails, honey you seriously need to rethink that statement which is meant for you and should have been kept to yourself not utube....
I miss this program on television. i love this lady😍😍
Lovely authentic Island cooking..gotta appreciate how the Senior Ladies make the old recipes..Respect.

I'll make mine without the ketchup... This recipe would be nice with chicken wings, thighs, or legs. Nice with ribeye steak or NY strip steak too.

Grace is Aretha Franklins Twin!!!
You need glasses for sure they look nothing alike the only thing in common they have is being strong black women
#OneDeep
Turky neck is cheap unlike oxtail over in the USA at most places... so I guess that's why it's "ghetto oxtail."
Seems you would have one huge pile of bones to get through using turkey necks.
You can use oxtail which has more meat johnnyohness, to replace the turkey necks.
put een di "ile"
haha..
Lol
Ghetto Yaad Oxtail
every cook would critic her for not getting in there and usung her hand to marinade that meat. Get your hands dirty woman. What was that all about?
thought this was an ox tail tutorial. the title is misleading. it should just say turkey necks. lol
Did this say, that she and the other woman with short hair were lesbians?!!! Is this true?!!!
That was way too much thyme!!!... Ive been cooking this since 15 years ago and they just finding out now?.chups? And why it got to be ghetto? Its just turkey necks..its healthy meat... And Jamaican don't flip no bowl..
I am phobic to ketchup I dont know why a lot of Jamaicans start cooking wid ketchup.... Yuk ! That ruined that great dish.
it adds an extra depth of flavour... you can leave it out.
