    I live in Barnstaple, My Volvo D5 blew an injector out of the cylinder head as a previous helicoil repair had failed, I was so stressed out thinking i would have to get the cylinder head replaced which i could not afford, I went to Barum engines and had a chat with Lee, He put me straight to my ease and told me to get the car over to him as he could sort it, Sort it he did for a very reasonable cost and he turned the job around in a few hours, The D5 is still going strong after the Barum engines repair, I highly recommend Barum engines as Lee is genuine, Loves his work and will not rip you off 👍

      it’s nice to hear a positive review, unfortunately the bad jobs spread a lot faster than the bad, especially in the classic car scene it’s like wildfire

    Thanks for doing this video, it gives another perspective how Barrum’s business works. Lee is upfront about everything, and running a business, added with the change in attitude of customers since Covid, is not to be envied. You still have to make a profit, and repairing engines with classic and high performance in mind does increase the scrutiny on how you run your business. Some of the comments are critical, but I’d love to see how they would cope in the same situation.

    I have had a number of engines built by Barum engines. Excellent service and did exactly what was agreed and end result was perfect. Recommend speaking to them if you need engine work.

    Enjoyed that👍 As an ex engine rebuilder its nice to see someone doing the job properly to show some transparency as theres so many sharks out there in the murky world of engine re'conning' - Keep up the good work Lee!

    Being a small specialist is a good route to take. It allows you to take a small amount of work, and make the most profit. It's about making money, not keeping super busy.

    They do a good job with the tooling they have. Problem for a company trying to expand is the cost of equipment required to make the jobs any better, for example a CNC honing machine from Rottler is £340k. To tool up with all the machinery to build an engine to exacting standars is around 1 million. To charge 80-100 £ per hr to the public.
    Not happening.

    • @rmsdiagnostics

      same as our work,we can carry out repairs they hold up but if you want the loom making the the spec of the manufacturers is going to cost more than the car is worth every time

    Have heard alot of BAD things about BARBUM ENGINES

    • @rmsdiagnostics
      @rmsdiagnostics  4 місяці тому +7

      I can only judge from what I see on the channel,Lee is upfront with the good and bad parts of trying to fix broken stuff,it’s never perfect and I like he is still trying to move forward with his business and processes to give the customer a better experience. can’t ask for much more, but like everyone in the classic/ performance industry all bad experiences travel like wild fire and chinese whispers don’t help either. I’m sure I have a bad name in a lot of people minds but I can only keep trying to improve. 🙏🙏

    • @habliutfish
      @habliutfish 4 місяці тому +7

      Everyone has heard bad things about all engine builders. Because of the successful YT channel and their exposure, there are going to be more people that have ‘heard bad things’ about them.
      For example,my sister’s ex husband’s gardener saw a Facebook post from their Venezuelan cousin that Lee and Isaac are eating the dawgs, they’re eating the cats, they’re eating the pets of the people that live in Barnstaple.

    • @fatwalletboy2
      @fatwalletboy2 4 місяці тому +1

      Yeah its like good news you rarely hear about that which covers off 99% its always the 1% who have "heard bad things" that grabs the headlines so I dont sweat the small stuff........
