... This is The REAL Person/Inspiration for Bigg Worm in Friday. The Ice Cream Truck, Perm etc. 💯
I grew up in the 5....Vicksburg & Bancroft Ave apts. It was hella funny when I found out Droopy rapped. I came home from Navy bootcamp in December '93 to visit the fam before I reported to my first duty station down in San Diego. Me and one of my patnas hopped on BART to go to Berkeley to do some record shopping. I was in fuckin Tower Records looking at some rap tapes. I kept hearing about this dude named Dru Down, so I picked up the tape and looked at the cover...
"Is this fuckin Droopy from the 500!?!?! Hell naw!! Droopy with the Shirley locks?? Rob and Jason's folks?? Oh shit!! Droopy fucking with C&H like that?? He used to hoop with us at Horace Mann Elementary all the time!" 😆
That shit caught me by surprise because I had no idea he rapped. Never heard him rhyme until I bought that Fools From The Streets tape. Became a certified East Oakland rap legend.
Rest in Power to my old school HMV folks Rob Brown too!
I grew up on Congress….me, Danyel, and all the HMV’S spent our days on the schoolyard playin’ basketball & ridin’ our bikes. I was shocked too when Danyel started rappin’, but I can tell you we were listening to The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five back in the early 80’s…It’s always been in the blood😎
@@hoodsplicer I miss the HMV. RIP to Skeet and Jojo too. Heard Skeet from Fairfax passed last year.
Bro I was stationed in alameda at that time back in 93...shit was lit in the town.
@@marcuseagles5342 I couldn’t get Alameda at that time because they were shutting down. San Diego was still cool.
Damn rite I was living in the bay at the time I used to bump in to C&H all the time working at FoodMaxx in Hayward and into Dru down everywhere I remember the concert on 96th and sunny side was a classic
I knew C&H back around the early 2000s. He was always a super solid and genuine guy. Every time I would bump into him he always had a smile on his face and positive energy. Haven't seen him in many years but it's always cool running in to him...pause.
Man - I just found this - what a true and genuine gift to the fans of Oakland rap to give us this interview. Thank you. I've liked and subscribed without having to be begged.
Check it out our hip hop museum
C&H, WE NEED THE BOOK! Youz a EAST OAKLAND LEGEND!
I like this never heard any of this and it's great hearing how the legends made stuff happen I'm from the city and it's great to hear the big homies from Frisco and Oakland made history together and this new generation should be on the same path. Salute great interview "I like that"
Yall be fronting but C.H was the nigga back in the day
Fun fact : The Luniz 911 song 🎵 was actually me and a guy from Richmond CA CA named Harm's song 🎵 Tone Capone from Berkeley made the beat and we created a song to it that C and H heard, then he bought the beat and gave it to my homies The Luniz 😔 If you listen to my verse, then Yuckmouths verse you will see a couple of similarities, but they killed the song and were more popular and organized for sure. The guy that put me and arm in the studio was the same guy dollars in Spence who had Keak the Sneak and 3 Times Crazy at that time ⏲ Yuckmouth is family and in no way am I taking any credit from him and his talent #actor #radiohost #townbiz 🎬💯✌🏾 - Deno Brown Entertainer
One of my favorite songs from the bay.

What is the name of the song
Did you notice the beat?
@@fonzarellyplay370 Soon as you hear the first song "Call Me Dru Down" and the second one "Pimp Of The Year" you could easily tell it was Ant Banks by the sound of the type of Kick, 808, Snare, and Synth Bass he was using.
