Wow you are right. It is really quite eerie. There is a Charlie Chan movie where his son is told by an actuary exactly his age and how he will die, and in real life that is what happened, Victor Sen Yung.
What a wonderful and inspiring movie! It has helped me finally decide exactly how I want to designate my assets when I pass on. To give the bulk to missionary work! Blessings to all who made it possible for us to see this. 🙏✝️
No missionary work...manipulation by people claiming they want to "help"...with strings attached. UGH! I'm donating to animal rescues, food banks, and organization like Heifer which help with pushing religions on cultures which have their own customs.
Thank you Pizza Fix for sharing great film with us. I saw Leslie Howard and Myrna Loy in this and I said, Must Watch. The role Leslie played with Bette Davis in one of her first roles as a moneygrubbing waitress, and he had a club foot, was an artists. He is more lively and talkative and authoritative role. Great acting.
Spoiler alert... Tom was weak and easily swayed. Daisy wanted what was best for him and was his soulmate. But he met Cee and she was beautiful and alluring. She used sex to manipulate him which he realizes at the end when he compares her to a madam he used to visit. Cee should have been her father in laws daughter, they were similar. The father used money to get what he wanted. The butler felt sorry for Tom, that was why he stayed but he did not like Cee or the father. Daisy was very good and Cee accused her of her own bad behavior. Cee was mildly bad but not terrible, she just wanted her way and did not care what Tom wanted. Plus they really had nothing in common. Tom made the right decision for them all, Cee got money, she would take care of the dad. Tom and Daisy got each other. I liked them all in this especially Ann Harding. She looked so young and vunerable. I always hate her hair and clothes, though. I would have liked her hair in a shorter more stylish cut. She had little old lady hair but was quite pretty. Myrna Loy was an expert in vamp playing, this was another movie she got early typecast in.
Great casting! William Gargan aka Barrie Craig, Confidential Investigator. I'm sure quite a few people don't agree with the ending, but you have to be true to yourself.
What a sad and tragic end to a great and courageous actor! The Nazis shot the commercial plane he was on with other innocent Passengers who were returning to England from Portugal!
With just a little bit better writing this remarkable study in the tangled web of love might have been a true classic. Even so, for the period it is as grand as it is important.
And to think I thought this was a remarkable study in several people with no moral compass, or better term, no moral turpitude who truly did not know the first thing about true love. I speak of agape love as practically defined by the late Lyndon H Laruche. If this screenplay were to be a classic I would suggest it falls into the category of a how not to do it.
25:19 I love Myrna Loy's outfit and her glamorous silhouette. SPOILER ALERT: I knew when he said, "We're not in love anymore", that she was in love....that's why she said, "No more Sweet Dear". In today's movies and real life they would have slept together then, and at the last time they met - when he declared his engagement.
Ann Harding lowered her voice for the talkies. Contrast this 1932 film with her appearance in the 1929 film Her Private Affair (her 2nd Hollywood appearance) .
Well MANIPULATION IS EVERYWHERE IN SOCIAL LIFE IN POLITICAL LIFE AND ON FAKE LOVE... BUT STILL I BELIEVE IN GOOD PEOPLE WITH INTEGRITY... AND LOVE..FOR TRUE LIFE MONEY MONEY MONEY DESTROY THE GOOD PART OF HUMAN BEEN
Some script editing needed. It lacks pace. Ideas dangle forever looking for an action that never arrives. I am half way through and I don’t know what I do know. The final line resolved it all!
Bantam Books was a very popular paperback publisher in the 50's & 60's when people still read books; they actually had much better stories than this one, meh
Some parts are confusing to me. Did he marry Cee? Or were they just engaged. At the end he said he was going home to his wife who was Daisy. Did that mean he decided to marry her?
I just love movies with Leslie Howard! So handsome and an amazing actor! 💖💖💖
What a wonderful film! The storyline was so human and believable.
Such an adult drama handled with grace and strength.
Leslie Howard,great actor.
June 1 was mentioned several times in the movie,as wedding days. Tragically, Mr. Howard died on June 1,1943.

He was an Englishman & was serving in the war
An all star cast, excellent film, acting. Thank you for sharing.
dear David O. Selznick... never got the recognition you deserved while you were alive... rest in peace
He got Jennifer Jones! 😂
@@GeneRogers-xl9um well, she was wonderful, she loved him and many men would have loved to have her
Some of these old movie have the best one liners in them . " slightly mellow ? Well he could hardly stand !" LMBO 😆

I would be happy to do some 'missionary' work for you Nancy.

Of Human Bondage (1934)

They always seem to tip-toe around the idea of sexual behavior and virtue. This one seemed quite ribald in several different scenes. I liked it!
Leslie Howard plays 40 yr old child still in puberty, rebelling against father and wife. "Howard" is made for these roles.
32yo
Powerful. Thank you.

I like the way cars pull-up in old movies, they push them and they bump into a block of concrete ..boom..and it rocks back and forward ..lol
just like the people that think it's so cool to back into a parking space today 😄
Very dramatic film! All such Very actors! Again,PizzaFlix,Thanks!
Nancy Sanders uj
NOTE TO SELF: If I ever make a Hollywood Movie, ... don't let the actors mope around acting like it's a High School Play.
Enjoyed it..thx.
What a sad and tragic end to a great and courageous actor! The Nazis shot the commercial plane he was on with other innocent

YUMMMMY THANK YOU 🙏🙏💋💋💋🤩😇😇🙌👏🎂🎁♥️♥️♥️ thank you pizza flix :)!!!
I especially love Myrna in this film...She's not the good girl for a change!
although it's a bit long and dull Leslie Howard made this film alive. Quite educative for real life teachings.
Regan, the butler was the most interesting/cool character
LOVE THIS MOVIE - REAL TRUE LOVE
Thanks for watching! Please subscribe. May the Sauce be with you.

Yes, the Song of Solomon might have been composed for this Myrna Loy.

I couldn't tell the time periods if it was one day or months, and did sidechick leave that night shecwas packing with her friend frank.?
She went backstage for a spell
Do you have "The Life of Vergie Winters"?
He cant have his cake and eat it too !
You can't have your Kate and Edith too.
I think ML had a terrible script and part to play! It was not worthy of her although AH was perfect for hers!
You Think
Worst roll I can think of for Leslie Howard. He is not convincing as a weak, indecisive man.
"Role" not "roll," a possible Freudian slip and not a typo!
Or autocorrect;) AI is more artificial than intelligent.
@@misskim2058 What do you mean? I am 70 and you left me behind.
